Dr. Palmer, I thank you for all of the rich clinical experiences you have provided me with that e... more Dr. Palmer, I thank you for all of the rich clinical experiences you have provided me with that enhanced my learning about multicultural issues. This includes the international training experience in Trinidad and Tobago which was truly an immersion experience. I am also very grateful to you for your patience, guidance and for your teachings. I learned a great deal about your area of expertisetrauma and its neuropsychological correlates and benefited immensely from our discussions. Dr. Foley, thank you for all of your support throughout my 5 years in the program and during my dissertation. I also thank you for always challenging me to think critically and for holding me to the highest scientific standards. You truly embody a scientistpractitioner and your knowledge of psychology and statistics are stellar. I hope to one day pass on to my students all of the lessons that you have instilled in me and to one day be the role model to my students that you have been to me. I would like to thank the many excellent "thinkers," that contributed to my understanding of the science and practice of psychology that directly contributed to this project. Among them are the following faculty at the University of Medicine and Dentistry ofNew Jersey (UMDNJ), Child and Adolescent Services: Dr. Evelyn Orozco, Dr. Sueli Petry and Dr. Wanda Edwards. I owe a very special thank you to Dr. Beata Geyer-Beaudoin, for your teachings, caring demeanor and compassion for others and for providing me with an exceptional clinical training experience that profoundly influenced my thinking about systems psychology. I would also like to thank Dr. Bart Rypma for providing me with solid training in neuroscience and in research design. I would like to thank Dr. Milton Fuentes, a good friend, colleague and role model, who has always been willing to help and provide suggestions and support. You have contributed significantly to my understanding of Latino Psychology. Thank you for all of your guidance throughout my training and for continuing to collaborate with me on clinical and research projects and enhancing my pedagogy. I would like to thank my family for all of their support throughout the years. I am especially grateful to my mother, Milagros, for all of the life lessons, sacrifices and support that brought me to where I am today. Finally, I would like to thank Matthew Lichten, someone who has always inspired me to do better things. Matt, you are truly an exceptional person and I am always so impressed by your dedication, positive spirit and thirst for life.
