Power-added efficiency of 61% is achieved at-1 dB gain compression in CW and is maintained at 61% at 5.5 dB back-off from the above point. The theory, design and measurement for this new amplifier will be discussed. as possible, this region of high efficiency can not be used. A Doherty amplifier, however, does not have the same relationship between efficiency and the input drive level and a high efficiency linear region is created. It is important to note that the amount that the input drive must be reduced from the saturation level is directly proportional to the number of carrier frequencies.
