This study aims to analyze the students’ self-esteem and self-efficacy attending online courses o... more This study aims to analyze the students’ self-esteem and self-efficacy attending online courses of an MBKM exchange program. It was organized by three participating universities using SPADA DIKTI. Quantitatively, the study employed an online questionnaire to collect the data from 80 participating students (N=80). The statistical analysis, which included multiple regression analysis, was performed using SPSS 26. The findings indicate that the variables self-esteem and self-efficacy have a significant and beneficial effect on students enrolled in concurrent online courses. Statistically, the study used an F test and a T-test to identify the considerable impact of the measured variables. The results show that both variables have a substantial and beneficial impact on students enrolled in concurrent online courses. Book reviews are intended to inform and evaluate a book's content and quality. It presents re... more Book reviews are intended to inform and evaluate a book's content and quality. It presents review critiques of the English curriculum and material development book by Pryla Rochmawati. The reviewer classified into four major sections from 11 chapters: curriculum and syllabus, curriculum components, the English curriculum in Indonesia, and the development of English-language materials. To begin, curriculum and syllabus are introduced briefly in language and explained in simple terms like those found in the first paragraph. Secondly, the curriculum is addressed by analyzing the needs of the students, establishing objectives, assessing their progress, and evaluating their progress. The third section discusses the Indonesian curriculum and how it has evolved. Material development based on Tomlinson's theory is presented in the fourth section. An evaluation of the author's visual approach and the content will be conducted in the review.

The study aimed to discover students perceive of Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. The data can be help... more The study aimed to discover students perceive of Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. The data can be helpful in government and policymakers and as evaluation from the host university. Additionally, it can be used to determine the overall controlling students' exchange program. Using a survey approach, the researcher conducted this research. The information was gathered using a questionnaire that was distributed through an online form. The research shows that 62% of respondents have basic information about this program in the good category in the first category. They also reported that more than 50% total of respondents felt satisfied with guiding from offcampus. Meanwhile, they complained that the most problems come from the technical issue about funding that cannot be the normal distribution, and they did not get credits recognition in the academic area from some universities in Indonesia. To sum up, this program needs a comprehensive evaluation from top to bottom. It means the university must match the guideline and prepare well before conducting and implementing this program.

Since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic, educational technology has become trended by playing E-le... more Since Covid-19 was declared a pandemic, educational technology has become trended by playing E-learning. Teachers and students are forced to transform from traditional classes into E-classrooms. However, full e-learning did not give students a massive impact yet, and lately, they have become less motivated since it provided no real communication (Mese & Sevilen 2021). Integrating face-to-face learning (direct interaction) and technologybased learning (digital communication) becomes promising (Garrison &Vaughan, 2008; Rianto, 2020). This study explored the perspectives of 3 pre-service teachers and 27 students towards the blended learning (BL) practices in the EFL context. The setting was the English education department, Universitas Borneo Tarakan. The data were collected using online interviews to gain in-depth information. The findings uncovered that the teachers and students gave positive perspectives to apply this model to the new normal. In addition, BL could reshape the teachers' roles by applying multiple technology use in the teaching and learning process. BL was also able to broaden students' learning experience and provide them with a technology-based world. This study highlighted some implications, including the need for pre-service teachers' professional development that ultimately will help teachers assist students in succeeding in blended learning.

The objective of this research was to discover the implementation of D-learning from the teachers... more The objective of this research was to discover the implementation of D-learning from the teachers' perspective. The data can be helpful for schools in evaluating and controlling studies conducted at home during an online learning activity. Additionally, it can be used to determine the overall online learning quality. Using a survey approach, the researcher conducted this research. The information was gathered through a questionnaire distributed through an online form. This investigation made use of a public opinion survey that classified respondents according to their intended use. The researcher adopted four essential parts of D-learning from Keane's theory. The research showed that in part 1 digital teaching materials, the teachers had great confidence in using technology in teaching methods, supported by 87.32% of teachers choosing good to an excellent capability. Similarly to Part 1, the ability to manage and control student learning was still dominated by good to excellent answers (78.88%). Even when the learning was conducted digitally, these teachers still had confidence in managing the learning process (part 2). Meanwhile, in part 3, the capability to prepare content for online and distance learning showed decisive reaction proven by 79.05% of teachers chose good to excellent answers. It also showed that the learning could be delivered through the internet. The last part was the ability to conduct online and conventional teaching after the pandemic still showed consistent responses, with 80.98% of teachers showing their ability to answer good to excellent. To sum up, the implementation of digital learning did not hinder North Kalimantan teachers from implementing distance learning.

This research aimed to identify and describe the common types of grammatical errors and the sourc... more This research aimed to identify and describe the common types of grammatical errors and the sources of errors made by the students in thesis abstracts. The research design in this research was descriptive qualitative, the respondent was a student of Borneo University Tarakan who graduated in 2016 and had officially compiled their thesis to the library of Borneo University Tarakan. There were 247 thesis abstracts to be used as a sample. The result showed that 1079 total errors were found in the thesis abstract made by students. The researcher took ten samples of the source of errors, and those samples were the common errors taken from 4 categories based on the Taxonomy of Errors. There were developmental errors, interlingual errors, ambiguous errors, and other errors.

The research design of this research used to be a Classroom Action Research. The research conducted from July 31st up to August 28th, 2019. The researcher described the research process, such as planning, implementing the actions, observing, and reflecting. It also elaborated on data obtained from students' scores and observation results. The cycle of this research divided into four meetings. Based on the two cycles' results, the data showed that optimizing of five stages, a scientific approach to teaching English. It can be the impact that students could improve students' achievement. It could be seen from the quantitative data by proving the students' scores got better than the pre-test. In the post-test, it indicated from 44,83% (13 students) increase to 93,10% (27 students) gained. So, they succeeded in to achieve the goal of the minimum standard of KKM. Meanwhile, the qualitative data that showed the students have been more active and exciting in the learning process.

Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil pretest dan posttest sebelum diberi perlakuan, data dianalisis menggunakan desain pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest . Dari hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa pengajaran TOEFL Listening Test menggunakan model pembelajaran Group Investigation memberikan hasil yang baik dengan meningkatnya nilai TOEFL pada pretest sebesar 37,68 dan posttest sebesar 45,16. Forty-two civil engineering students at the Borneo University of Tarakan were chosen as the sample of this research. The intervention was conducted for four months, two days every single week. A written test, questionnaire, and interview were used in collecting the data. The result presented that the mean difference between both tests was 33.00, where the post-test driven pre-test. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus, siklus I dengan pembelajaran model TGT dan siklus II pembelajaran TGT dengan permainan Ular Tangga. Alat pengumpulan data adalah observasi, tes, dan catatan lapangan. Teknik data diolah dengan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menggunaan model TGT dan permainan Ular Tangga, (2) terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar sebesar 31.25%, dan (3) terjadi peningkatan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dari 77.5 % menjadi 85%. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan TGT dan dan permainan ular tangga dapat meningkatkan hasil belaajr siswa pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris.

The subject of this research was the fourth semester students. To determine significant different of pretest and posttest before treatment, the data were analyzed using pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest design. The result showed that teaching TOEFL listening test through Group Investigation model had significant different between pretest of 37,68 and posttest of 45,16. Based on the result of hypothesis testing obtained data that there is significant score of 0,000 less than significance level of 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05).

They are dealing with students’ interest and motivation in learning literature. Most of students are uninterested in and unmotivated to learn about literature since they find difficulties in understanding figurative language. In fact, students do not get the point on how the figurative language is used to illustrate the implied meaning of the passage. Understanding figurative language can be perfectly retrieved through a cooperative learning, that is, literature circles. Literature circles is a temporary discussion groups between students who have chosen to read the same book in which each of the students has their own roles that differ from one another. When students are given a voice in what they read, they are more likely to learn and enjoy the experience. Additionally, their learning deepens their knowledge and becomes more meaningful to them.

This research employed Classroom Action Research as its methodology (CAR). In this study, there were 21 of the sample. An observation checklist, an interview, and a writing test were used in this study. In this study, there were two success criteria. First, students should get at least a 75.0 on their writing assignments. Second, class participation and instructor engagement must both total 80. In this study, the researcher did the analysis of the data using a combination of different methods. Quantitative data analysis was used to evaluate the results of the written tests, while qualitative data analysis was used to evaluate the results of the observation checklist and interviews. The study was conducted at grade eleven in SMA Negeri 1 Kalasan. The subjects of this study were the English language teacher and 117 students. This study was essentially qualitative with complementary quantitative data. The qualitative data were collected from the classroom observation and interview. In the classroom observation used to get the data about the implementation of integrated-skills teaching in the classroom. The interviews were about teachers’ understanding, opinion, actions, and obstacles in applying integrated-skills teaching. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan menerapkan model TGT dan p... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan menerapkan model TGT dan permainan ular tangga. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus, siklus I dengan pembelajaran model TGT dan siklus II pembelajaran TGT dengan permainan Ular Tangga. Alat pengumpulan data adalah observasi, tes, dan catatan lapangan. Teknik data diolah dengan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menggunaan model TGT dan permainan Ular Tangga, (2) terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar sebesar 31.25%, dan (3) terjadi peningkatan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dari 77.5 % menjadi 85%. Dari hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan TGT dan dan permainan ular tangga dapat meningkatkan hasil belaajr siswa pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris.

The subject of this research was the fourth semester students. To determine significant different of pretest and posttest before treatment, the data were analyzed using pre-experiment one group pretest-posttest design. The result showed that teaching TOEFL listening test through Group Investigation model had significant different between pretest of 37,68 and posttest of 45,16. Based on the result of hypothesis testing obtained data that there is significant score of 0,000 less than significance level of 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05).

This article is launched based on the highly seriously significant problems that are faced by the... more This article is launched based on the highly seriously significant problems that are faced by the students in literature class. They are dealing with students’ interest and motivation in learning literature. Most of students are uninterested in and unmotivated to learn about literature since they find difficulties in understanding figurative language. In fact, students do not get the point on how the figurative language is used to illustrate the implied meaning of the passage. Understanding figurative language can be perfectly retrieved through a cooperative learning, that is, literature circles. Literature circles is a temporary discussion groups between students who have chosen to read the same book in which each of the students has their own roles that differ from one another. When students are given a voice in what they read, they are more likely to learn and enjoy the experience. Additionally, their learning deepens their knowledge and becomes more meaningful to them.

Penelitian ini dilakukan pada penerapan menggunakan Self directed e-learning dan tatap muka langsung didalam kelas, penelitian ini juga dilakukan selama satu semester pada 67 mahasiswa dengan menggunakan topik yang sama namun dengan metode pembelajaran yang berbeda. The purpose of this study was to determine if the animation video can enhance students' narra... more The purpose of this study was to determine if the animation video can enhance students' narrative writing skills at Universitas Borneo Tarakan. This research employed Classroom Action Research as its methodology (CAR). In this study, there were 21 of the sample. An observation checklist, an interview, and a writing test were used in this study. In this study, there were two success criteria. First, students should get at least a 75.0 on their writing assignments. Second, class participation and instructor engagement must both total 80. In this study, the researcher did the analysis of the data using a combination of different methods. Quantitative data analysis was used to evaluate the results of the written tests, while qualitative data analysis was used to evaluate the results of the observation checklist and interviews.
