Methods: The objective of the study was to assess the quality of life and barriers associated with access to healthcare services among adults with disabilities in the age group of 18-59 years. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Disability is defined as "any restriction or la... more According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Disability is defined as "any restriction or lack of ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being''. 1 Disability is complex, dynamic, multidimensional and contested. 2 According to the Census 2011, there are 8 types of disabilities which include disability in seeing, disability in hearing, disability in speech, disability in movement, mental retardation, mental illness, others and multiple disabilities. 3 The international classification of functioning (ICF) 2001, replaces the term "Disability" with newer terms like impairment, activity limitation and participation restriction denoting the functional aspects of the interaction between individual (with a health condition)and their contextual factors (environmental and personal factors). 2 The WHO report 2011 puts the global burden of disability at 10-15% with more than a billion people who experiencing any form of disability. 2,4 According to the Census of India of 2011, the prevalence of disability is 2.21%. 5

Most couples value parenthood and look forward to it. Infertility is a global phenomenon and is considered a public problem; it does not only affect the couples' lives but also affects their social environment and the healthcare services Objectives: To assess the knowledge and perceptions of fertility among the adults aged 18-49 years visiting Anekal Taluk general hospital. Methodology: A hospital based cross-sectional study was done in Anekal Taluk General Hospital. A consecutive sampling technique was used. Participants aged 18-49 years who were aware of the word infertility were included in the study. A total of 218 participants fulfilled the criteria and were included in the study. To assess the knowledge, a nine-item fertility awareness questionnaire was administered by an interviewer. Assessment of the perceptions of fertility was done using a structured, face-validated 15 item questionnaire. Data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20. Results: There were 300 participants in the study. The mean age was 31.2±9.1. A total of 218 (72.7%) study participants were aware of infertility. A total of 171 (78.4%) had adequate knowledge of fertility. Most participants had positive perceptions about infertility. Gender, marital status, and socioeconomic status were significantly associated with awareness on fertility. Conclusion: Awareness on fertility is increasing among general population however negative attitude towards infertility and stigma towards infertile females is still present in the communities.

Teachers play a vital role in the society by helping students acquire knowledge and moral values.... more Teachers play a vital role in the society by helping students acquire knowledge and moral values. The objectives of our study were to measure the occupational stress and factors associated with them among school teachers. A cross sectional study was conducted among 102 teachers using eight item, pretested, semi-structured, face-validated questionnaire to assess the factors contributing to occupational stress and scored on a scale of 8-16 with a higher score depicting lower stress. In this study, 35(34.3%) teachers were in the age group of 22-31 years, 72(70.6%) were males, 73(59.8%) were working for more than 5 years, 68(66.7%) were permanent employees, little less than half 42(41.2%) had completed Post-Graduation. The mean occupational stress was 10.8 + 0.96. Factors like male gender, number of classes per day, work distribution, work pressure, strength of the class, duration of travel to work place and job satisfaction had significant impact on work related stress.
