The aim of the current study was to examine some factors that contribute to career decision makin... more The aim of the current study was to examine some factors that contribute to career decision making of 11th and 12th grade students within the context of the Learning Theory of Career Counseling (LTCC; Krumboltz, 1996). Specifically, the study examined to what extend the variables of gender, career beliefs, self-efficacy and problem solving skills and their relationship predict career indecision. The sample was composed of 409 (234 female, 175male) 11th and 12th grade students whose ranged between 16-18 (M = 16.48, SD = 3.04). The Career Beliefs Inventory (Krumboltz, 1991), Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (Jerusalem & Schwarzer, 1981; Yılmaz, Gürçay & Ekici, 2007), Problem Solving Skills Inventory (Heppner, 1988; Şahin, Şahin & Heppner, 1993), Career Decision Scale (Büyükgöze-Kavas, 2010; Osipow et al., 1976) and Demographic Information Form were used as data collection instruments. Although the studies conducted in the field of gifted students in our country have gained momentu... more Although the studies conducted in the field of gifted students in our country have gained momentum in recent years, studies regarding interventions that will respond to their social and emotional needs remain limited. In addition to evoking many positive features such as giftedness, being smart and successful, the difficulties caused by giftedness in individuals' lives are ignored. Therefore, the aim of this study is to introduce the problems faced by gifted children in the social-emotional field and the most common intervention programs. However, possible risk factors and protective factors were also summarized for them to be guiding in the selection of the intervention program to be implemented. In addition, the problems experienced by gifted individuals in the social and emotional field were illustrated with a case study. Finally, some conclusions and recommendations that may be useful for psychological counselors serving in the field of gifted students, families of gifted students, and teachers working with gifted students were examined in the light of the relevant literature.

It reflects using literature for helping children to overcome their problems. Choosing the appropriate book for bibliotherapy is crucial point to make the process productive. Research on the books that can be used through bibliotherapy with gifted students seems to be limited; led this study. This study examined three books in terms of the content regarding psychosocial difficulties experienced by gifted students and their appropriateness for bibliotherapy applications for gifted children at primary school level.
