Keempat tanaman tersebut telah banyak diteliti dan digunakan untuk mengatasi kondisi hiperglikemia namun keamanan kombinasi keempat tanaman tersebut belum diketahui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian kombinasi ekstrak etanol keempat tanaman tersebut terhadap perubahan histopatologi glomerulus tikus wistar jantan yang mengalami hiperglikemia akut. SARS-CoV-2, a Coronaviridae virus related to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), is the virus... more SARS-CoV-2, a Coronaviridae virus related to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), is the virus that causes the COVID-19 pandemic. Diabetes mellitus is a condition that is reported to have a connection with the emergence of COVID-19. A diabetic patient has a higher risk of infection compared to other nondiabetic patients. In addition, some reports showed the possibility of infection that can stimulate diabetes in an individual without a hyperglycemia history. COVID-19 was also found to show a hyperglycemic conditions that may affect mortality. Therefore, a proper monitoring as well as management of glucose level is needed for COVID-19 patients regardless of their diabetes status, to minimize the risk of mortality and development of diabetes. The possibility of diabetes mellitus induced by COVID-19 infection is investigated in this paper, as well as the monitoring of COVID-19 patients with hyperglycemic conditions. Further investigation might be needed to confirm the relationship between COVID-19 and diabetes mellitus type 1.

Bacillus subtilis potato isolate was able to be an antagonist of plant pathogens. The aims of thi... more Bacillus subtilis potato isolate was able to be an antagonist of plant pathogens. The aims of this study were (i) to examine the potential of potato isolate B. subtilis as a control for Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) as a pathogen rice bacterial leaf blight, (ii) determine the inhibition mechanism of their isolates, (iii) evaluate the best B. subtilis to make nanosuspension formula. The method was carried out in a completely randomized design with 5 treatments of B. subtilis potato isolates B46, B209, B211, B298, and B315, repeated 4 times. Xoo and five B. subtilis were grown in nutrient broth medium in a shaker. Xoo and B. subtilis were grown in yeast peptone glucose agar medium by the diffusion method. Xoo was inoculated on medium, and then a 5 mm diameter filter paper immersed with B. subtilis suspension was placed on the medium. The best B. subtilis as a controller was used to formulate into nanosuspension. The variables were zone of inhibition, inhibition mechanism and antibiosis index. The results showed that only three B. subtilis were able to inhibit the growth of Xoo, namely B211, B298 and B315 isolates. The highest (10 mm) inhibition zone was recorded by B. subtilis B315 isolate. The mechanism of inhibition of the three isolates of B. subtilis against Xoo was bacteriostatic. The antibiosis index of B. subtilis B315 against Xoo was 1 (strong). The selected B. subtilis B315 was developed as a nanosuspension formula with inhibition zone of 2.1 mm and antibiosis index was 0.42.

Objective: Liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are chronic liver diseases that can... more Objective: Liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are chronic liver diseases that can cause serious health problems. Meanwhile, the methods used to detect liver cirrhosis and HCC are limited. Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) is a protein that makes up high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which plays a role in liver cirrhosis and HCC, and can be used as a biomarker. This study aims to determine the ability of ApoA1 to detect and differentiate liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 47 patients with liver cirrhosis and HCC at Margono Soekarjo Regional General Hospital, Purwokerto, Indonesia. This study also involved 33 healthy participants from blood donors at the Blood Transfusion Unit, Indonesian Red Cross, Banyumas. Serum ApoA1 levels were analyzed by ELISA method. Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) were used to evaluate the diagnostic power of ApoA1 and differentiate between cirrhotic, HCC, and healthy patients. Multivariate binary logistic regression test to determine the most influential variables on the incidence of cirrhosis, HCC, and health. Results: ApoA1 was able to differentiate cirrhosis from HCC, cirrhosis from healthy and HCC from healthy, with sensitivity 56.7%, 86.7%, 70.6%, specificity 70.6%, 93.9%, 84.9%, respectively, and AUC 68.5%, 92.6%, 75.0%. AFP (p = 0.002, OR 1.004) and bilirubin (p = 0.021, OR 1.259) were variables that contributed to cirrhosis-HCC. Age (p = 0.011, OR 0.766) and AST (p = 0.003, OR 0.834) are variables that play a role in health-cirrhosis. ALT (p = 0.024, OR 0.965) and PT (p = 0.004, OR 0.253) are variables that play a role in healthy-HCC. Conclusion: ApoA1 was best for detecting healthy from cirrhosis, followed by healthy from HCC and cirrhosis from HCC. ApoA1 is not the primary variable determining the incidence of cirrhosis-HCC, healthy-HCC, and healthy-HCC.

Methods: The preparation of Citronella oil microemulsion was carried out through a high-speed homogenization technique. The microemulsion was formulated with a base of 100 g, consists of Citronella oil in several concentrations 5%, 10%, and 15%, emulsifier (Tween 80 and Tween 20) 10-20% by weight of citronella oil and 80-90% distilled water, made into six formulas (F). The microemulsions were then evaluated for the organoleptic, pH, and transmittance. Results: Based on the organoleptic test showed that F1 was selected as the best formula, a microemulsion with an active ingredient of Citronella oil in a concentration of 5% and an emulsifier 10%. The average pH was 5.35 according to normal skin pH (4-6.5) and the average size of the microemulsion is 2.42±0.09 µm and the PdI (polydispersity index) is 0.68±0.1. In current medical practice when a patient feels symptoms he/she would consult the doctor. The do... more In current medical practice when a patient feels symptoms he/she would consult the doctor. The doctor then gives medication in a one-fits-all fashion. However, recent genetics studies had shown that different genetic makeup can results in different effects on medication, so the medication should be customed for every individual. The main idea of "personalized medicine" is to provide the right intervention including medication to the right patient at the right time and dose. With this approach, the medication paradigm would shift from curative to preventive. The rise of personalized medicine had been possible because the information from ever-increasing biomolecular (proteomics, genomics, and other omics) and health-related data are successfully "mined" by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In this paper, we proposed that AI systems toward personalized medicine must have acceptable performance, be readily interpretable by the clinical community, and be validated in a large cohort. We examined a few landmark papers with the keyword "AI for personalized medicine application"; 1) automatic image-based patient classification, 2) automatic gene-based cancer classification, and 3) automatic health-record heart failure with preserved ejection fraction patient phenotyping. All the examples are evaluated by their performance, interpretability, and clinical validity. From the analysis, we concluded that AI for personalized medicine could benefit by five factors: (1) standardization and pooling of genetics and health data, nationally and internationally, (2) the use of multi-modalities data, (3) disease specialist to guide the development of AI model, (4) investigation of AI-finding by clinical community, and (5) follow-up of AI-finding by the large clinical trial.

The volatile oil of Alpinia galanga rhizomes are known active as antibacterial. Three formulation of gels containing of 1 mL of galangal oil were made with variations of carbopol 940 from 0.5% - 2 %. Antiseptic test were done using replica methods. Data of viscosity, spread power, and adhesion were analyzed using one way ANAVA. Data of effectiveness was analyzed using one way ANAVA and if there is any differences, it will be continued by using HSD Tukey. The results showed that viscosity of gels were pseudoplastic flows. Spread power of gel preparations increased, adhesion and viscosity decreased during storage. The properties of thiolated chitosan was then characterized, and being formulated with metformin HCl and sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) to form microparticles. Metformin HCl microparticles tested for drug release use type II dissolution tester (paddle). Statistical data analysis performed using one-way ANOVA test followed by t-test significance level of at least P <0.05. The results showed that thiolated chitosan formed a slightly yellowish white solid, distinctive smells, looks fibrous, soluble in acid, in water, and mixed with water to form transparent gels with high viscosity. However, to date, no study has been conducted to compare the effectiveness of these two therapies. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the effectiveness of BSS and VCO on diabetic wound healing in rats. Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups depending on the formulation used on the wound: BSS, VCO, and control-treated with film dressing. The tissue samples were obtained on days 4, and 14. The wound size, the presence of necrotic tissue, level of inflammation, level of fibroblast, and re-epithelialization were assessed. On day 10, wounds in the BSS group were the smallest compared with other groups. The necrotic tissue and level of inflammation in the BSS group were also less as compared with other groups. Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) were used to evaluate the diagnostic power of ApoA1 and differentiate between cirrhotic, HCC, and healthy patients. Multivariate binary logistic regression test to determine the most influential variables on the incidence of cirrhosis, HCC, and health. Results: ApoA1 was able to differentiate cirrhosis from HCC, cirrhosis from healthy and HCC from healthy, with sensitivity 56.7%, 86.7%, 70.6%, specificity 70.6%, 93.9%, 84.9%, respectively, and AUC 68.5%, 92.6%, 75.0%. AFP (p = 0.002, OR 1.004) and bilirubin (p = 0.021, OR 1.259) were variables that contributed to cirrhosis-HCC. Age (p = 0.011, OR 0.766) and AST (p = 0.003, OR 0.834) are variables that play a role in health-cirrhosis. ALT (p = 0.024, OR 0.965) and PT (p = 0.004, OR 0.253) are variables that play a role in healthy-HCC. Conclusion: ApoA1 was best for detecting healthy from cirrhosis, followed by healthy from HCC and cirrhosis from HCC. ApoA1 is not the primary variable determining the incidence of cirrhosis-HCC, healthy-HCC, and healthy-HCC.

Methods: The preparation of Citronella oil microemulsion was carried out through a high-speed homogenization technique. The microemulsion was formulated with a base of 100 g, consists of Citronella oil in several concentrations 5%, 10%, and 15%, emulsifier (Tween 80 and Tween 20) 10-20% by weight of citronella oil and 80-90% distilled water, made into six formulas (F). The microemulsions were then evaluated for the organoleptic, pH, and transmittance. Results: Based on the organoleptic test showed that F1 was selected as the best formula, a microemulsion with an active ingredient of Citronella oil in a concentration of 5% and an emulsifier 10%. The average pH was 5.35 according to normal skin pH (4-6.5) and the average size of the microemulsion is 2.42±0.09 µm and the PdI (polydispersity index) is 0.68±0.1. The doctor then gives medication in a one-fits-all fashion. However, recent genetics studies had shown that different genetic makeup can results in different effects on medication, so the medication should be customed for every individual. The main idea of "personalized medicine" is to provide the right intervention including medication to the right patient at the right time and dose. With this approach, the medication paradigm would shift from curative to preventive. The rise of personalized medicine had been possible because the information from ever-increasing biomolecular (proteomics, genomics, and other omics) and health-related data are successfully "mined" by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In this paper, we proposed that AI systems toward personalized medicine must have acceptable performance, be readily interpretable by the clinical community, and be validated in a large cohort. We examined a few landmark papers with the keyword "AI for personalized medicine application"; 1) automatic image-based patient classification, 2) automatic gene-based cancer classification, and 3) automatic health-record heart failure with preserved ejection fraction patient phenotyping. All the examples are evaluated by their performance, interpretability, and clinical validity. From the analysis, we concluded that AI for personalized medicine could benefit by five factors: (1) standardization and pooling of genetics and health data, nationally and internationally, (2) the use of multi-modalities data, (3) disease specialist to guide the development of AI model, (4) investigation of AI-finding by clinical community, and (5) follow-up of AI-finding by the large clinical trial.

The volatile oil of Alpinia galanga rhizomes are known active as antibacterial. Three formulation of gels containing of 1 mL of galangal oil were made with variations of carbopol 940 from 0.5% - 2 %. Antiseptic test were done using replica methods. Data of viscosity, spread power, and adhesion were analyzed using one way ANAVA. Data of effectiveness was analyzed using one way ANAVA and if there is any differences, it will be continued by using HSD Tukey. The results showed that viscosity of gels were pseudoplastic flows. Spread power of gel preparations increased, adhesion and viscosity decreased during storage. The properties of thiolated chitosan was then characterized, and being formulated with metformin HCl and sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) to form microparticles. Metformin HCl microparticles tested for drug release use type II dissolution tester (paddle). Statistical data analysis performed using one-way ANOVA test followed by t-test significance level of at least P <0.05. However, to date, no study has been conducted to compare the effectiveness of these two therapies. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the effectiveness of BSS and VCO on diabetic wound healing in rats. Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups depending on the formulation used on the wound: BSS, VCO, and control-treated with film dressing. The tissue samples were obtained on days 4, and 14. The wound size, the presence of necrotic tissue, level of inflammation, level of fibroblast, and re-epithelialization were assessed. On day 10, wounds in the BSS group were the smallest compared with other groups. The necrotic tissue and level of inflammation in the BSS group were also less as compared with other groups.
