This study reports on a project designed by the students to evaluate the development of their speaking skill through the digital storytelling with mobile devices. This study explores the perception of the learners on the digital storytelling in learning speaking and how the digital storytelling effects on students’ speaking. This research involved English students for Department of English Literature in the second semester who took speaking subject. A qualitative research was used in this study adapted a workshop approach and RASE (Resources, Activity, Support, and Evaluation) with three phases pre-production, production, and post-production and supported by a quantitative data by filling a questionnaire. Community service as one of the Tri dharmas that must be carried out by lecturers aims to provide... more Community service as one of the Tri dharmas that must be carried out by lecturers aims to provide knowledge and experience regarding the use of English in the scope of daily activities and the working atmosphere of ASN in the Province of West Sumatra. This training is packaged through a hybrid workshop held during the Covid 19 pandemic which was taken place from 9-18 March 2022. The focus of this training activity is the mastery of spoken English, correspondence, and TOEFL to support the role of ASN as public servants. This material is based on the results of a pre-test conducted a few days before the training day which concluded that most of the selected ASN in the province of West Sumatra is at the Basic to Intermediate level. This service team is STBA Prayoga lecturers who have the duties and functions of a planning and implementing team. The implementation phase included the process of providing material through zoom meetings and Moodle for 3 days and then continuing with the im...

Plenty of media is used, such as newspapers, magazines, novels, and movies to share information a... more Plenty of media is used, such as newspapers, magazines, novels, and movies to share information and incorporate some life values, including gender equality values. The collection of short stories entitled NING was written by Irma Argiyanti. She is an active Lombok writer. This research aims to identify the writer's ideology through the artwork (the short story collection). This methodological framework was adopted from Fairclough’s concept of the three-dimensional model, explored gender representation in the short stories, and tried to identify the truth behind the texts' ideology. The results show that the stories represent implicitly and explicitly gender equality values. Therefore, the topics and the stories' flow provide patriarchy, women empowerment, and equality values in the family. Based on the data, there are about 33 words representing women’s names and 19 words of men. Consequently, the short stories pursue the readers to think, elaborate, and accept gender eq...
