The independence of children is the assets of childrens to become prime human resource, independe... more The independence of children is the assets of childrens to become prime human resource, independence not to depend on others is one of the steps that must be trained from an early age. This study is a cross-sectional analytic study that was conducted to identify the external and internal factors that influence development of childrens independence. The study was performed on mother who had 3-5 years old child, simple random sampling selected through from 170 mother in Al-Wahyu Kindergarten School. 119 mothers were selected study's respondents. The data were collected through questionnaires. The results of the study was obtained using mulitiple logistic regression test and it showed that the factors that influence development of childrens independence in Al-Wahyu Kindergarten School, Surabaya, were gender of the child as internal factor (OR=2.91; 95% CI=1.27 to 6.64; p=0.011); parenting style as external factor (OR=1.35; 95% CI=1.10 to 1.65; p=0.004) and the number of children in the family (OR=0.48; 95% CI=0.24 to 0.94; p=0.034). From the results it can be concluded that internal and external factors have a related influence so that right parenting style that is in accordance with the gender and position of the child in the family will increase the childs independence.

Background: Breastfeeding is essential for health, development, and child survival by preventing ... more Background: Breastfeeding is essential for health, development, and child survival by preventing child illness. However, exclusive breastfeeding has not reached the desired target. Health promotion by Indonesian Breastfeeding Association (AIMI) participation is one way to increase exclusive breastfeeding coverage. There are several causative factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding, which can be explained by the PRECEDE-PROCEED model. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of health promotion through the Association of Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers (AIMI) in increasing exclusive breastfeeding practice in Surabaya, East Java. Subjects and Method: This was an analytic observational study with a cohort retrospective design. The study was conducted at AIMI Surabaya branch office and 6 community health centers in Surabaya, East Java, from December 2017 and January 2018. A total sample of 120 lactating mothers was selected for this study by simple random sampling. The dependent variable was breastfeeding. The independent variables were AIMI participation, maternal maternal knowledge, maternal education, maternal attitude, family support, and peer support. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by path analysis. Results: Exclusive breastfeeding increased with AIMI participation (b= 1.02; 95% CI=-0.19 to 2.24; p=0.101), better maternal knowledge (b= 1.48; 95% CI= 0.15 to 2.79; p=0.029), positive maternal attitude (b= 2.22; 95% CI= 1.03 to 3.38; p<0.001), and stronger family support (b= 2.69; 95% CI= 1.25 to 4.11; p<0.001). Maternal attitude increased with AIMI participation (b= 0.69; 95% CI=-0.18 to 1.57; p=0.116), better maternal knowledge (b= 1.56; 95% CI= 0.72 to 2.39; p<0.001), and higher maternal education (b= 0.71; 95% CI=-0.11 to 1.52; p=0.089). AIMI participation increased with higher education (b= 1.07; 95% CI= 0.26 to 1.87; p=0.009). Family support increased with stronger peer support (b= 2.24; 95% CI= 0.73 to 3.75; p=0.004). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding increases with AIMI participation, better maternal knowledge, positive maternal attitude, and stronger family support.

Breastfeeding decreases the risk of respiratory tract infections and diarrhea, both in developing and developed countries. Other benefits include lower risks of asthma, food allergies, celiac disease, type 1 diabetes, and leukemia. Breastfeeding may also improve cognitive development and decrease the risk of obesity in adulthood. In Indonesia, exclusive breastfeeding has not reached the desired target. Previously, the implementation of posyandu in Jati Kalang Village had rarely examined mothers; generally, the posyandu only screened the growth and nutritional status of children and the application of immunizations. The need for knowledge about central obesity in women of childbearing age is still lacking; most women or mothers underestimate it, even never checking the condition of central obesity they experience. The purpose of this community service activity is to map and report maternal health status by conducting early detection of health status related to central obesity. This activity attended by 78 wus or 78% of the 100 recorded with the results of 40 wus experiencing central obsession or about 51.28% and as many as 38 wus (48.72%) not obese.

Dental caries is one of the problems that often occurs in pre-school age children (3-6 years) as ... more Dental caries is one of the problems that often occurs in pre-school age children (3-6 years) as a result of unfavorable habits of children in maintaining dietary and brushing habits. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with the occurrence of dental caries in pre-school children. The type of research was observational analytic with cross sectional design. The samples were 81 children by using simple random sampling technique. The analysis of the data used univariate and bivariate using the Chi Square statistical test. The results showed that the factors associated with the occurrence of dental caries in pre-school children were the habit of eating cariogenic food (p = <0.001), the habit of drinking milk with a dot bottle (p = <0.001), the frequency of brushing (p = 0.004 ), and brushing time (<0.001). Rumah Sakit Kirana Sepanjang jumlah kunjungan pasiennya menurun, yaitu 84.539 pada 2015, 36.619 pada 2016, dan 31.897 pada 2017. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh kualitas kesehatan terhadap kepuasan pasien rawat jalan Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak Kirana Sepanjang Sidoarjo. The method of this research use Analytic, research with cross sectional approach. The, population of the study was 136 people using accidental sampling obtained by the number of samples 101 people. Previously, the implementation of posyandu in Jati Kalang Village had rarely examined mothers; generally, the posyandu only screened the growth and nutritional status of children and the application of immunizations. The need for knowledge about central obesity in women of childbearing age is still lacking; most women or mothers underestimate it, even never checking the condition of central obesity they experience. The purpose of this community service activity is to map and report maternal health status by conducting early detection of health status related to central obesity. This activity attended by 78 wus or 78% of the 100 recorded with the results of 40 wus experiencing central obsession or about 51.28% and as many as 38 wus (48.72%) not obese.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with the occurrence of dental caries in pre-school children. The type of research was observational analytic with cross sectional design. The samples were 81 children by using simple random sampling technique. The analysis of the data used univariate and bivariate using the Chi Square statistical test. The results showed that the factors associated with the occurrence of dental caries in pre-school children were the habit of eating cariogenic food (p = <0.001), the habit of drinking milk with a dot bottle (p = <0.001), the frequency of brushing (p = 0.004 ), and brushing time (<0.001). Rumah Sakit Kirana Sepanjang jumlah kunjungan pasiennya menurun, yaitu 84.539 pada 2015, 36.619 pada 2016, dan 31.897 pada 2017. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh kualitas kesehatan terhadap kepuasan pasien rawat jalan Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak Kirana Sepanjang Sidoarjo.
