The research used a quantitative research method using the SPSS. Primary data was collected from the sample of 15 respondents who were chosen using purposive sampling from a total population of 40 employees at National Foods Limited who had background knowledge of strategic operations management. The main outcome of the study proved that strategic operations management has a positive effect on organizational performance as it lead to increase in sales volumes, customer satisfaction, increased financial resource utilization and increased productivity. This led to the recommendations that firms in the food manufacturing industry must be flexible to adapt to new technological innovations in its strategic operations management such as digital inventory systems, strategic supply chain as well as continuous improvement in total quality management and human resources management systems.

The mission statement being the major purpose of the organisation and the vision is a powerful statement that draws organisational future image in the present moments. Having the vision statements in local government institutions in Zimbabwe, the research was therefore carried out to evaluate whether the vision statements are a reality of success or are mere dreams, rhetoric statements that can never be achieved within their time frame by local authorities using the Municipality of Kariba as a case study. There are no problems in making the vision statements but the anxiety is upon on the implementation and the translation of the vision statement to the intended resultant mental picture within the boundaries. The research highlighted the background information and history of the operationalisation of vision statements in the public sector from the global to the local level as given by the introductory Chapter I in a bid to formulate the objectives and research questions which exactly crack where the problem is towards the attainment of the vision statements in the public sector institutions. The objectives are; to explore the impacts of vision statements to local authorities, to identify the strategies used by local authorities to achieve their visions, to investigate the importance of stakeholder involvement in the achievement of vision statements in local authorities, to explore the challenges faced by local authorities to achieve their visions and to establish the recommendations to local authorities to achieve their visions. The research constitutes the literature review in Chapter II which provides the theoretical framework of the study by reviewing the credited scholars in finding out how credible are the vision statements , are they achieved, identifying the impediments that bedevilling local authorities to a successful implementation and achievement of the vision statement in local government entities and highlighting the possible solutions. Having the literature review, it sets the pre-conditions for a research plan being the research methodology in Chapter III. The methodology of this research is characterised by sampling methods that are random sampling, purposive sampling and convenient sampling techniques to gather data as guided by the research questions. The research used three major primary data collection that include questionnaires, interviews and observations. These three complimented each other in gathering data in the field. The secondary data collection involves the use of the organisational journals, reports and strategic plan was used to gather information from the Municipality of Kariba. Quantitative and qualitative research methods are central to this study where enumerated data and subjective data which encompasses opinions of the population sample of 75 respondents randomly selected from the population of 27 000. The researcher observed the procedures and research ethics as a requirement to obtain the highly needed data from the field. Chapter IV dealt with data presentation and analysis that was obtained from the field through graphs and tables in finding out the significance, strategies used by the Municipality of Kariba to achieve its vision Statement, challenges and recommendations. The last but not least, chapter V gave an overall summary of all chapters, conclusions were made basing on the major findings from the entire research. The possible recommendations to the challenges that affect the implementation of the vision statement of Municipality of Kariba were highlighted in chapter V.
