Most of clinically significant pharmacokinetic interactions are those at the biotransformation level. Co-administration of inducers or inhibitors of major enzymes involved in antipsychotic drugs metabolism may lead to correspondent changes of their plasmatic concentration, possible associated with reduced effectiveness, or increased risk of adverse effects, respectively. The best defence against these equally important, unwanted consequences is awareness of this issue. Knowledge of the pharmacokinetic interaction profile of individual drugs may help clinicians in choosing the best therapeutic option for distinct patients.

These severe psychiatric symptoms can be found in many psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, personality disorders, cognitive disorders, intellectual disability and substance abuse. Although indications for the use of antipsychotics are limited to a specific group of diseases, they are frequently used as rescue medication in high-risk or nonresponsive cases. Clozapine, the gold standard for TRS (treatment resistant schizophrenia) is effective in controlling aggression. The aim of the research was to identify the use of clozapine for treatment-refractory aggressive behavior in psychiatric emergency. A retrospective study based on the paper files of patients admitted between 2010 and 2019 in the Clinical Hospital of Psychiatry and Neurology of Brasov, Romania. Were included all the patients admitted as a psychiatric emergency and treated with clozapine for a...

Although intended to maintain the health status, several cases of adverse effects to Plant Food Supplements (PFS) have been described. Objectives To describe the self-reported adverse effects collected during the European PlantLIBRA PFS Consumer Survey 2011-2012, with a critical evaluation of the plausibility of the symptomatology reported using data from the literature and from the PlantLIBRA Poisons Centers' survey. Subjects/Setting From the total sample of 2359 consumers involved in the consumers' survey, 82 subjects reported adverse effects due to a total of 87 PFS. Results Cases were self-reported, therefore causality was not classified on the basis of clinical evidence, but by using the frequency/strength of adverse effects described in scientific papers:

Among the first promising repurposing agents proposed for treatment and prophylaxis, two antimalarial agents came into limelight: chloroquine and its less toxic derivative, hydroxychloroquine. Intense research and public debates have followed.

DC are believed to evolve into tumor-antigen pulsed cells and then to migrate to local lymph nodes, where they activate anti-tumor immune responses. This theory is supported by studies showing that high DC densities are associated with favorable prognosis in some tumor types. In the present study, we evaluated 40 primary and metastatic laryngeal carcinomas for the presence of DC, using immunohistochemistry with the anti-S100 protein antibody. We analyzed the relationship between the degree of infiltration by S100-positive (S100+) DC and prognostic factors, including histological subtype, histological grade, peritumor inflammatory infiltration, and stromal desmoplasia. The results show that in all evaluated laryngeal cancers S100-positive cells were significantly more frequent in the tumor stroma. Primary tumors with nodal metastases showed more significant differences in ...

However there is a scarcity of data on the usage of such products at European level.

The review considers six botanical species commonly used as food supplements/medicinals: Urtica dioica L., Symphytum officinalis L., Calendula officinalis L., Curcuma longa L., Boswellia serrata Roxb., and Harpagophytum procumbens L. The search retrieved 579 publications. By removing the duplicates and applying the inclusion/exclusion criteria, the final number of papers was 47. No epidemiological data were found. The bibliographic search found no paper regarding the anti-inflammatory effects of Calendula officinalis L. and Symphytum officinalis L. by oral use. In spite of the long-term traditional use for inflammatory disorders, Curcuma longa L. and Harpagophytum procumbens L. warrant further investigation, whereas the efficacy of Urtica dioica L, even if the available data on hard endpoints are promising, requires other trials. Boswellia serrata Roxb. was found to be the most promising, since it shows the best efficacy for the treatment of pain/inflammatory conditions. In conclusion, it is advisable to conduct further studies with more homogeneous population and larger number of subjects by avoiding the heterogeneity of the herbal preparations considered.

In the first part of the paper we reviewed some points related to the theoretical aspects of biomechanical studies for stability and equilibrium. In the second part of the paper we describe the research methodology as well as the experimental system integrated with the analysis procedures. In the final part we present the analysis results and conclusions.

Electronic communication raises ethical problems, induced by e-communication that reduces time and space, but equally may create problems related to confidentiality issues and other ethical dilemmas. More and more private or public hospitals, medical centres or individual medical practices including Romanian ones use the Internet as a communication tool, both for presenting the health facility and assessing patient satisfaction or for increasing the quality of management of concerned units. In our paper we are presenting the results of a study on the Brasov hospitals' web pages, their structure, attendance, information quality, conformation with ethical rules.
