Manado as the capital of North Sulawesi province in the past four years has become one of the lea... more Manado as the capital of North Sulawesi province in the past four years has become one of the leading destinations for Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia. One of the things that has not yet been explored well is cultural and historical tourism. Though this can be a special attraction when managed properly, it can be an alternative to tourism other than marine tourism. But in his observation the sites were not used as a means of learning culture and history for the people of Manado. The purpose of this study is the use of Historical Sites as Educational Tourism. The analytical method used is descriptive by combining qualitative and quantitative methods. The research instruments used were interviews, observation and questionnaires. The analytical method used is the assessment using a Likert attitude scale. The results showed that the Manado community agreed that the various sites were used as educational tourism

This paper aims to describe the state of cultural heritage sites in Manado City that are poorly m... more This paper aims to describe the state of cultural heritage sites in Manado City that are poorly maintained, damaged, changed in function, and the challenges of developing Manado city center as a heritage area. In developed countries, the old city area with historic sites is well preserved, even though the old building is located between modern buildings, people still appreciate it and tend to protect it from damage both by nature and by human hands, so that the site becomes a tourist attraction. However, this did not happen in the city of Manado, cultural heritage sites were damaged, stolen, and tended to change functions. Using the methods of observation, documentation, and interviews, the researchers examined the condition of several historical and cultural sites in relation to the development of heritage tourism areas.

The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of Bahoi village as an ecotourism village... more The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of Bahoi village as an ecotourism village. Bahoi village is on the coast which is a legal area of the sea. Bahoi is located in West Likupang Subdistrict, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. Currently, Bahoi Village has been designated as an ecotourism village by the local government and marine area protection managers, but to be designated as an ecotourism village, it is necessary to consider if the village is feasible to be an ecotourism village. The research method used was structured observation using the Research Instrument used in the assessment of eligibility criteria as well as feasibility Index, supported by interviews with community leaders and local government. The results show that the attraction of ecotourism in Bahoi Village is considered to have potential with the category of feasibility index as a tourism object of above 66.6%. This shows that the village of Bahoi deserves to be a village of Ecotourism.

Without a deep study of the environmental balance, the new tourist attraction is exposed through information technology network that resulted in the enslaving of visitors coming to the place. The decline in the quality of the natural environment and the disruption of sociocultural life is an indication to the unpreparedness of unexpected tourist locations through an appropriate plan. The purpose of this research is to analyse the carrying capacity of mangrove coastal area that will be used as ecotourism attraction, by taking case study at Budo Village, Wori Sub-district, North Minahasa Regency, which is also included in Bunaken National Park area. However, there has not been a study on the readiness of the carrying capacity of coastal areas as an ecotourism attraction. The Method of instrument used is the analysis of coastal environmental carrying capacity. The results of this study will be used by policy makers in planning the development of ecotourism and the determination of various tourist attractions that match the condition of the natural environment and social culture of local communities.

Accelerated development of facilities such as accommodation and restaurants have proved that local governments are concerned with the development of tourism sector. However, the success is not supported by local human resources development; especially waitresses at the local restaurant do not have up-graded skills, knowledge and attitude. As an area that emphasizes the spirit of kinship with its regional philosophy "we are brethren” (torang samua basudara), has had an impact on the recognition of this area as a high tolerance area of religion. The city was formerly dominated by indigenous Minahasa tribes, but over time due to its high open nature, the city was populated by various inhabitants such as Sangir, Gorontalo, Maluku and even foreign immigrants such as China and Arab migrating since the Dutch colonial era. Because this event resulted in cultural assimilation between indigenous and outsiders. Currently practically only one particular culture with religious rituals that still provide a shock value for the identity of the city of Manado. Due to this policy, many accommodations and restaurants are built here. Certainly, this is an opportunity for local people to work in the hospitality industry. Meanwhile, so far the tourism development industry is only physical, it was not supported by the human resource local tourism development, in this case, the waitresses who work in local restaurants. The research aims to examine the quality of service of waitresses who work in local restaurants. The research was conducted from October to December 2015, and locations of the area where data were taken are Mega Mas and Sabua Bulu Malalayang. These areas are the centers of local culinary industry. The research method used is descriptive qualitative supported by quantitative data. Field research includes a survey involving 116 respondents, observation and documentation, and the analysis by servqual method. Service quality measured based on visitors' perceptions of the five dimensional aspects. They are the tangible aspect, responsiveness aspect, assurance aspect and empathy aspect. Result of this research shows that service quality of local waitresses are still low, where service performance appraisal is 3.11 while the guest expectations of service quality were 4.47. Guest rating on the performance expectations of service and quality of service shows a minus value. This indicates that the guest is not satisfactory with the performance of services provided by a waitress with an average value of-1.35 satisfactions which means that the value of service of local waitress is ≤ 0. Recommendation is that the local governments should encourage business manager of local restaurants training to improve service quality of waitress. The methods of training suggested are video presentation, vestibule, role plays and case studies.
