3-month internship (from 01.02.2016-01.05.2016) as a social worker in the Félix Schroeder
accommodation center for applicants of international protection; it will provide a qualitative analysis
of their perceptions of the integration system in Luxembourg using the center as a case study, where
I will highlight the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the system, and compare these results

There is no question to the fact that the institutional and governmental integration that resulted did not solidify in a day, though no single theory has been credited for singlehandedly explaining the process of integration to the contentment of everyone (Engbers, 2014, p. 3). Liberal intergovernmentalism is one of the theories that try to explain the process that led to such a successful evolution. With some reference to the concept of intergovernmentalism developed by Hoffmann, Andrew Moravcsik’s liberal intergovernmentalism is based on assumptions that member states of the European community were critical and rational actors in the integration process

This has resulted in the formulation of policies and rights for such individuals to ensure their protection and that governments provide them with the required assistance. Various scholars have analysed the rights and policies of EU asylum-seekers to determine how they affect EU member states and the impact these have on individuals seeking asylum 1. The systems put in place ensure that Asylum seekers enjoy a decent standard of living and benefit from international protection. Asylum seekers come from different parts of the world into EU to shelter from epidemics in their original places of residence. Due to the high number of Asylum seekers coming into the region, EU developed the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) to ensure that all member countries treat asylum-seekers equally and that no member country has higher numbers of Asylum seekers than others. In addition, the proposed system aims at enhancing collaboration when dealing with issues confronting Asylum seekers in the region 2. 1 Bauloz, Céline, Meltem Ineli-Ciger, Sarah Singer, and Vladislava Stoyanova. 2015.Seeking asylum in the European Union: selected protection issues raised by the second phase of the Common European Asylum System.
