Far more interesting is the way to incorporate them into the design of a learning environment framed by certain institutional constraints. Through this study we present some reflections and ideas arising from the dialectic interplay between the environment and the students in their effort to formulate a calculus theorem and construct its proof. Related teaching and learning phenomena providing information on instrumental genesis processes are primarily discussed.
