The novel Things Fall Apart (1958) by Chinua Achebe focuses on a young Nigerian man of great fame who cannot be subject to domination by the white man. As a result, the story is characterized by a series of tense moments when the reader's suspense builds to the brim. Nevertheless, catharsis comes at different points, starting with when Okonkwo can win the wrestling fight against Amalinze the Cat. Beginning with this victory, the reader gets to release tension at various times throughout the story, such as when Okonkwo becomes repentant of his mistakes and pays the fine to the earth goddess, when Ikernefuna arrives in Umuofia, and finally when Okonkwo commits suicide to seal his tragic fate. This analytical discussion of Things Fall Apart aims at identifying the critical points within the story when catharsis occurs, allowing the reader to release the inwardly built-up emotions at different points in the story.

Ferree, Lorber and Hess stated that gender is an ongoing product of daily social practice. Men and women are typically geared towards behaving in particular ways by their society and culture (Ferree et al. 5). According to Burr, social constructions warn people to be doubtful of their beliefs about how the world seems to be (Burr 3). This theory illustrated in A Doll's House affects the demeanor of Nora. Nora's father and husband segregate her from involving in social circle. Nora desires to involve in the society like everyone. However, her husband's "entrapment" blocks to go further behind the four walls of the house. It is inside the four walls that Nora's anger and agony develops.

The findings of this work suggest that these three authors of the Victorian literature used dialect to both individualize characters and to bind them to a certain groups, which can mostly be defined by social status. It is a narrative strategy that attempts to grant the written equivalent of the method of individual reflection; it successfully embodies the character's complete mental process, thoughts and feelings. In literature, the term alludes to the stream of these ideas, with reference to the method of looking at a specific personality. Modernists utilize this device to show a story in the shape of individual contemplations instead of employing a dialogue or depiction. In this paper light is shed on two different kinds of interior monologue; direct and indirect and the differences between them are displayed, later descriptive qualitative method is used to identify and analyze the direct interior monologues that is used by the three main characters in Joyce's Ulysses (1922) which is considered as the greatest work of modern English literature today. So, there will be no discussion about indirect interior monologue in this research.

Throughout history, people of color, particularly blacks, were rejected in American communities because whites believed they had more power and control over them. Although blacks work positively and do manual labor in supporting the structure of white industry, whites have a bad treatment toward colored skin and treat them as an embarrassing inhumane human to serve whites. This paper portrays problems of prejudices and racial discrimination through the kid's eyes in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird 1960.

Harper Lee in To Kill a Mockingbird (1960) explains how serious events can be underlined enough for attracting the attention of the readers. This motive had been fulfilled by the novelist with the help of adding a “sense of humor” in it along with the illustration of pathos. The book largely focuses on the social and racial injustices perpetrated against the blacks in the early 1900s American southern community of Alabama. While the story covers serious issues of the American dark past during the Great Depression era, humor is a major part of the novel. Thus, the novelist aims to ensure that all the information she tried to suggest is precisely understood by the readers, wherein, they feel glad enough to go through it. This is the only way through which, the book, presently, attains an important role in the American culture and people from varied parts of the world can enjoy the details involved in the novel. This textual analysis is a threadbare study of some different parts of the book and interpreting the meaning and the intent behind them to depict how Lee's novel has applied humor successfully to make light of serious subject matters such as corrupt accumulation of wealth, social injustices, and personal immoralities during the early twentieth-century American south.

This study provides a psychological analysis of the immigrants in Selvon’s The Lonely Londoners through the lens of Derek Parfit’s notion of identity. It examines the psychological predicaments of West Indian immigrants who migrated to London in the 1950s searching for a better life, but were subjected to racial discrimination, alienation, and sufferings due which they lost their own identities before gaining a new one. The immigrants find themselves confused and psychologically disturbed in the harsh and cold British society. Despite the racial abuse and discrimination metered against them, immigrants slowly coped with London life by adopting a new identity. Based on Parfit’s theory, self-continuity refers to the number and strength of psychological connectedness. The research uses this perception to examine the psychological sufferings that immigrants faced in The Lonely Londoners. Through the characters, Selvon presents various colonial concepts, such as nostalgia, racism, and marginalization that impact migrants’ mental states and identity.

Literature works have also developed the ideology of sustainability through narratives and fictional novels. The Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer is one of such literary works that have featured sustainability and environmental conservation as the main themes in their plots. Kingsolver uses three interwoven chapters and three protagonists to develop the idea of sustainability in environmental, economic and social aspects. She demonstrates a complex mutual relationship between human beings and the natural wildlife resources. The author also uses the main characters characteristic of great passion for protecting the ecosystem to demonstrate the importance of maintaining an ecological balance for the sake of future generations. The novel description of the existing mutual relationship in the ecosystem also shows the dynamic forces in the environment that ensure the survivability of each constituent of the environment. Hence, human beings should envision in the concept of environmental protection to support sustainable lives for the future generations.

Modern drama influenced African Americans to realize the nature of their whole history in America as being deeply affected by the heritage of slavery, particularly to guarantee that others recognize the institution for the inhumanity and terror that it was, also to motivate those with slavery in their past to demand this experience as part of their cultural identity. August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson looks at the African Americans segregation from Mississippi who has travelled North without coming to terms with their southern past.
