This organizational structure provides the power, control, and enablers for the treatment cycle and includes administrative processes, services, staff, and equipment. Such elements may be helpful when evaluating a company. To define a company as a qualified pharmacy operation, it should be taken in or arranged by a pharmacy and conducted on or offsite. The patients' treatment outcome depends upon the pharmacy practices of the procedures by collaborating with the health-care professionals or the Doctors. 4 major aspects of the medical treatment procedure include an individual access in the drug intervention, pharmaceutical medical programs, strategies regarding the pharmacy procedures and analysis of the obtained results. The method will be applied through laboratory environments, taught in advanced degree courses, incorporated into the clinical rotations of the candidates, developed through internship training & utilized in the form of a model for potential research for evaluation of medical professionals' impact upon consequences related to Medication for patients. Various reports have been evaluated which are relevant to medicinal pharmaceutical programs, although it is challenging to establish which patient treatment procedure has been included in each of these researches.

Research paper thumbnail of Allosteric Inhibition of Zinc Finger Proteins by DNA Binding Polyamides

Small molecules that can bind selectively to any predetermined DNA sequence in the human genome c... more Small molecules that can bind selectively to any predetermined DNA sequence in the human genome could potentially be powerful tools for molecular biology and human medicine. Polyamides containing N-methylimidazole (Im) and N-methylpyrrole (Py) are small molecules that bind DNA according to a set of "pairing rules" with affinities and specificities similar to many naturally occurring DNA binding proteins. The study of DNA binding polyamides is further expanded by the development of new monomer pairings and new synthetic methods which allow access to polyamides with varying truncated tails. A new pairing of N-methylpyrazole with N-methylpyrrole increased specificity substantially without loss in affinity. This result indicates that other ring positions, besides the 3-position, can also greatly impact DNA recognition properties. Polyamides having truncated tails are shown to bind DNA with greater generality at the tail positions while maintaining high affinity, and may allow ...

It is non-invasive, radiation-free and portable. This technique could be used for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, which up to now does no have a satisfactory solution. However, the current resolution of EIT is very low, rendering its sensitivity for perfusion defects not yet suitable for clinical application. This paper presents a simplified computer simulated model using 3D EIT to image the perfusion defects. A FEM mesh of 122 880 elements is used to solve the forward voltages using algorithms built-in to EIDORS, an open source software for EIT. The EIT system simulated has 4 rings of 16 electrodes, excited in adjacent patterns. The resulting voltage measurements with added white noise at 24 dB are reconstructed on a coarser mesh of 7680 elements. The results show that 3D EIT can image perfusion defects as small as 5% of a lung volume in the upper lung regions. Larger defects are observable from the reconstructed images in all regions of the lung. Although the study is simple and therefore suffers from several drawbacks, the results are encouraging for future application of this technique in perfusion defect imaging.

Rectal displacement devices (RDDs) allow for improved rectal dosimetry during prostate cancer treatment. This study used KIM to perform a preliminary investigation of prostate intrafraction motion observed in patients with an RDD in place. Ten patients with intermediate to high-risk prostate cancer were treated with a Rectafix RDD in place during two boost fractions of 9.5-10 Gy delivered using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) on Clinac iX and Truebeam linacs. Two-dimensional kV projections were acquired during treatment. KIM software was used following treatment to determine the displacement of the prostate over time. The displacement results were analyzed to determine the percentage of treatment time the prostate spent within 1 mm, betw...

Research paper thumbnail of Service recovery: A re-conceptualisation

Despite considerable effort by organisations to provide excellent service, service failures occur... more Despite considerable effort by organisations to provide excellent service, service failures occur. Increasingly, as the business environment becomes more dynamic and complex, it is unrealistic to expect service delivery to be completely error free (Bansal and Taylor 1999; Keaveney 1995a). When service failure occurs, firms are advised to put in effort to recover customers, because lost customers typically result in substantial financial and reputational loss (Hogan, Lemon and Libai 2003). Moreover, building relationships with customers is always considered as an ideal approach to avoid customers’ dissatisfaction with the recovery attempt. However, it appears that the majority (81%) of customers who complain are not happy with the complaint handling process (TARP 2001). The high percentage of dissatisfied customers suggests that current approaches to recovery are largely ineffective (Davidow 2003). In searching for explanations for the ineffectiveness of service recovery strategies, a programmatic research study was conducted. Study 1 is a qualitative study, including Study 1A and Study 1B. Study 1A was conducted on 199 consumer complaint letters, and Study 1B was conducted using 22 in-depth interviews. Study 2 is a quantitative study conducted on a consumer sample of 431 respondents. Study 2A is a scale development study and Study 2B is a structural equation modelling study. The research program is reported in seven chapters. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the thesis. Chapter 2 reviews service recovery literature. Chapter 3 outlines the methodology. Chapter 4 reports the results of Study 1. Chapters 5 and 6 report results of Study 2. Finally, Chapter 7 presents the conclusions, key theoretical and managerial implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research. In sum, the thesis proposes a conceptualisation of service recovery by providing a model that highlights the different aspects of the relationships between the following constructs: (1) Customer Recovery Expectations; (2) Purchase Deliberation Recollection; (3) Customer Emotional Attachment; and (4) customer’s Recovery Expectation Disconfirmation. Customer Recovery Expectations concept reflects the customer’s perception of an appropriate recovery attempt that they prefer in a particular service recovery context. Purchase Deliberation Recollection reflects the customer’s recalled time and effort invested in the purchase deliberation process. Customer Emotional Attachment captures the emotional connection between the customer and the service provider that motivates the customer to act in the provider’s interest. Lastly, the customer’s Recovery Expectation Disconfirmation describes the customer’s comparison between their preferred recovery solution and their received recovery solution. The relationships between these constructs significantly influence the two dependent variables: the customer’s satisfaction with recovery and their repurchase intention. The findings highlight that, in service recovery, creating a customer’s positive perception of recovery expectation matching attempt is the key. To affect this, employees should understand that the customer has a recovery expectation which the organisation should attempt to match. In addition, customers with a good and long term relationship with the organisation tend to have more sympathy when service failure occurs. However, long term customers may also be more demanding and have higher expectations than short term customers. When the organisation fails to recover the service failure for a long term customer, the negative effect of not appropriately recovering may outweigh the positive benefits of having a relationship. Therefore, once a good relationship has been built, organisations should be prepared to invest more resources to maintain it through time. That is, a relationship should be maintained in normal as well as in service failure situations. The findings thus have significant theoretical and managerial implications.

Early immunological studies showed that p53 is rapidly activated upon TCR stimulation. Nevertheless, the mechanism that underlies the TCR-mediated p53 activation is unclear. Recently, we reported that p53 negatively regulates Th17 differentiation. Here, we further examined the function of p53 during non-polarizing T cell activation. Upon TCR stimulation (α-CD3+ α-CD28), especially under suboptimal conditions (low level of α-CD3), p53null T cells proliferated more aggressively with a higher effector function than their WT counterparts. To investigate the molecular mechanism by which p53 modulates T helper differentiation, we examined their gene expression via microarray. Among the 45,000 probe sets hybridized, 4025 genes within the Gene Ontology (GO) pathways of immune responses (innate immunity, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-17 pathways), DNA damage responses, Cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and survival showed significant differences (p

However, not all stories result in positive outcomes. Specifically, when a story introduces an anti-climax plot and unanticipated information is presented that does not draw from a stock plot, it runs the risk of disengaging the audience from the story. This might subsequently drive potential donors away from the charity organization. Building on storytelling literature, this current research contributes to marketing communication literature and practice in philanthropy in several areas. This research uses foreign charity appeals as the context of an anti-climax plot in a charity appeal story, and examines whether charity donors respond differently to names of foreign countries revealed at the climax point of a charity appeal story. An experimental design uses video stimuli to narrate a charity appeal story to 243 consumers. The results suggest that the charity donors vary their behavior depending on whether they are exposed to the name of a rich or a poor country.

This paper suggests some ideas to improve this process: (1) Associate an algebraic specification with each software component; these specifications should include complete syntactic information, but need have only partial semantic information. (2) User queries consist of syntactic declarations plus results for sample executions. (3) User queries may be posed in standard programming notation, which is then automatically translated into algebraic notation. (4) Search is organized as ranked multi-level filtering, where each level yields a ranked set of partial matches. (5) Early stages of filtering narrow the search space by using computationally simple procedures, such as checking that the number of types is adequate. (6) Middle levels may find partial signature matches. (7) Pre-computed catalogues (i.e., indexes) can speed up early and middle level filtering. (8) Semantic information is used in a final filter with term rewriting, but complete verification is not attempted. (9) The series of filters is implemented incrementally, so as to backtrack to lower ranked components in case of failure. This approach avoids the need for complex theorem proving, and does not require any knowledge of algebraic specification from the user. Moreover, it does not require either specifications or queries to be complete or even fully correct, because it yields partial matches ranked by how well they fit the query. The paper concludes with a description of some preliminary experiments and some suggestions for further experiments.

Research paper thumbnail of Consumer social identity: cool and single or caring and attached

Journal of Strategic Marketing, 2014

Using lab experiments, we provide evidence that consumers regard brands differently when media characters are presented in a social environment versus an isolated environment, and that such variance is dependent on a consumer's key salient social identity dimensions: gender and ethnicity. Specifically, our evidence indicates that male and Western consumers prefer an isolated environment, whereas female and Asian consumers prefer a social environment. This preference translates to brand preferences and in some instances purchase intention. Further, when the branded product is identified as private, females and Asian consumers retain their preferences. This suggests that images of being cool and single in an isolated environment or caring and attached in a social environment should be tailored wisely for specific market segments.

Examples are provided of different pro bono giving styles, as professionals struggle to resolve inter-institutional tensions, thus addressing this little understood yet vital form of giving, and meeting an important research priority.Design/methodology/approach– Using a discovery-oriented grounded theory approach, this paper draws on narratives from interviews with 31 professionals to explicate, from the professional’s point of view, the backstory of pro bono service.Findings– The authors provide an integrative institutional logics-based framework for understanding the backstory to professionals’ giving. Three distinct pro bono giving styles are revealed: first, an individual logic (self-centric), an “I” logic; second, an organizational logic (organization-centric), “We” logic; and third, a societal “All...

For certain oriental languages where word boundary is not clearly defined, a recognition process can become very challenging. One of the serious problems is dealing with word ambiguity.
