Arrow's model generalizes to non finite set of states describing uncertainty so as to encompass general financial assets pricing. We present several theorems of equivalence between General Equilibrium and Perfect Foresight Equilibrium (PFE), a concept adapted to financial assets markets. These results put forward several points: -The welfare properties of PFE, or in Arrow's term, the "role of securities in the optimal allocation of risk". -The role of the complete market hypothesis (CMS) and the reason why it takes an abstract mathematical form in modern finance. -The probabilistic interpretation of assets prices under the CMS hypothesis. This interpretation extends to dynamic models (as the equivalent martingale property) and allows the pricing of assets by their expected payments. -The necessary properties of equilibrium prices w...

We show that cheap talk has a differentiated effect depending on the scenario implemented. It decreases protest responses with no effect on WTP values in the scenario based on a new drug. When a move to a less polluted city is involved, it has no effect on protest responses but decreases WTP values. Surprisingly, cheap talk increases protest responses but decreases WTP values when new regional air pollution regulations are at stake.

We define fishing not only through annual harvest, but also through a second component, called the degree of protection of the fishery environment. This characterizes the environmental impact of fishing. A stochastic dynamic programming problem is presented in infinite horizon, where a sole owner seeks to maximize a discounted expected profit. We assume a stochastic stock-recruitment relationship where both components of the fishing activity have an impact on the probability law of the state of the fishery environment. We characterize the optimal fishing policy and we compare it with standard models. We find that the optimal policy is not a constant escapement policy and indicates an element of self-protection by the fishery manager. We also analyze the existence of degrees of protection of the fishery environment that take into account the environmental conservation and preservation of ...

We propose an extension to the G-S model that incorporates the dynamics of carrying capacity as an indicator of dynamics of the marine habitats. The study yields two main findings. First, we demonstrate that habitats matter, by showing that the main outcomes of the G-S model are dramatically modified if habitats are included in the analysis. Second, through a heuristic model and simulations, we show, for the first time, that our extended model provides an appropriate framework to analyse the putative contribution of MPAs and ARs. The model presented in this article opens the way to a better understanding of the benefits of MPAs and ARs, as well as other habitat protection policies.

T... more We study how actors perceive the coastline and its governance around the big city of Marseille. The analysis is based on the Institutional Analysis Development (IAD) framework. Interviews were carried out in order to get information about actors' definition of coastline, what is important for them, their perception of uses, conflicts and equity and governance in this area. From these interviews we show a first series of institutional performances diagnostics about the coastline relevant intuitions, around the big city of Marseille. A major institution appears to be The National Park of Calanques even though its launch process is questioned. Operational rules and rules of collective choice are found to be globally accepted by actors; by contrast, constitutional rules seem to be perceived as missing from the launch of the National Park.

Stated preference surveys are usually carried out in one session, without any follow-up interview... more Stated preference surveys are usually carried out in one session, without any follow-up interview after respondents have had the opportunity to experience the public goods or policies they were asked to value. Consequently, a stated preference survey needs to be designed so as to provide respondents with all the relevant information, and to help them process this information so they can perform the valuation exercise properly. In this paper, we study experimentally an elicitation procedure in which respondents are provided with a sequence of different types of information (social cues and objective information) that allows them to sequentially revise their willingness-to-pay (WTP) values. Our experiment was carried out in large groups using an electronic voting system which allows us to construct social cues in real time. To analyse the data, we developed an anchoring-type structural model that allows us to estimate the direct effect (at the current round) and the indirect effect (on subsequent rounds) of information. Our results shed new light on the interacted effect of social cues and objective information: social cues have little or no direct effect on WTP values but they have a strong indirect effect on how respondents process scientific information. Social cues have the most noticeable effect on respondents who initially report a WTP below the group average but only after receiving additional objective information about the valuation task. We suggest that the construction and the provision of social cues should be added to the list of tools and controls for stated preference methods. "Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof." Galbraith, 1971.
