Two research sessions were conducted-one in Beijing, China with university students (N = 680), and the other in Calgary, Canada where two groups of Chinese students were administered the WLEIS in either Chinese (N = 151) or English (N = 151). The WLEIS had satisfactory reliability, the four-factor structure was replicated, and metric invariance was supported across the three groups. The present study provided empirical support to the growing emotional intelligence measurement invariance literature and demonstrated the robustness of both the English and Chinese versions of the WLEIS.

Analyses were performed using a sample of undergraduates (N = 585) recruited from four universities across China. Confirmatory factor analysis of the Chinese TEIQue-SF supported the one-factor structure of trait emotional intelligence. Measurement invariance analyses were conducted across the Chinese sample and a sample of Canadian undergraduate students (N = 638). Although the two samples demonstrated configural and partial metric invariance, scalar invariance was not found. Cross-cultural implications and explanations of the present findings, as well as suggestions for future research are discussed.

Task efficiency (the ratio of resources input to task performance output) is negatively correlated with perfectionistic strivings. In the context of online questionnaires, task efficiency can be measured in terms of the time required to complete a questionnaire and the number of mouse clicks used to change responses. Perfectionistic strivings and perfectionistic concerns were thus predicted to be related to longer completion times and higher numbers of response revisions. Perfectionistic self-presentation (a behavioural facet of perfectionism) was hypothesized to be correlated with both perfectionism dimensions and to mediate the perfectionistic concerns-task efficacy relationship. To test this hypothesis, 130 undergraduate students completed online questionnaires measuring perfectionistic strivings, perfectionistic concerns, and perfectionistic self-presentation. Completion time and the number of mouse clicks were recorded. Significant relationships were found between both perfectionism dimensions and perfectionistic self-presentation.

Samples of women from Canada (N = 360), China (N = 216), Italy (N = 209), Lebanon (N = 295), and Spain (N = 291) were administered the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short form (TEIQue-SF). Each cultural group was compared with its unique OCC obtained by merging the other groups. Results showed that emotionality and well-being facets were invariant across all respondents. A difference in self-control was found when comparing Chinese women with women belonging to different cultures and in sociability when comparing Lebanese women with those belonging to different cultures. The current findings provide a preliminary basis for studying EI in women across cultures.

Findings indicated the three forms of perfectionism showed different relationships with both interpersonal traits and interpersonal problems, but also suggested that these relationships were gender-specific. Revisiting Hill et al.'s findings, the present study reexamined how the three forms of perfectionism related to interpersonal traits and problems, and tested whether the relationships also showed reliable gender differences, in a sample of 391 Prolific workers (195 men, 196 women; mean age = 37.1 years). Circumplex analyses confirmed the three forms of perfectionism showed different relationships with interpersonal traits and problems. However, the relationships with interpersonal traits were stronger and more differentiated than those with interpersonal problems, and only socially prescribed perfectionism showed elevated levels of interpersonal distress. Whereas only few reliable gender differences were observed, self-oriented perfectionism had a distinctive interpersonal quality (assured-dominant) in men, but not in women. Results are discussed in relation to theory and research on perfectionism and personality, the expanded perfectionism social disconnection model, and conceptions of other-oriented perfectionism as a "dark" form of perfectionism.
