Risk management is an essential and integral part of project management on all construction projects. Risk analysis is one of the core components of risk management that enables professionals to quantify and analyze risks that may pose potential threats to project performance in terms of various parameters. This research was conducted to identify and analyze risks associated with residential construction in Bangalore. In this study, risk and its impact on time and cost was identified and analyzed. Schedule impacts of project risks were supplemented by conducting quantitative risk analysis such as Monte Carlo simulation and sensitivity analysis using the Primavera risk analysis software. In case of cost, the cost variance was found out and mitigation measures were given. Thus, by effectively managing the risks, organization has more timely, comprehensive and deeper understanding of risks which in turn facilitates better decision making and confidence to take on new ventures or even to accept higher level of risk.

Therefore, the current study aims to evaluate the bending characteristics of corroded fly ash based fibre retrofitted concrete beams. Thus, the study attempts to measure the corrosion inhibition characteristics of fibre retrofitted reinforced concrete beams. Aside beams produced with conventional materials, other beams were produced with fly ash fixed at 30% replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement. Beams were cured in water for up to 34 days before they were induced in simulated corrosive environment. Some corroded beams were retrofitted with basalt fibre and others with sisal fibre, before being subjected to bending test. Despite the evident deterioration resulting from corrosion, the results clearly indicated that the fibres provided additional strengths to the corroded beams, with basalt fibre producing better response to loading at about 18% capacity than control beam before failure. Basalt fibre has been found to enhance the structural bending capacity of corroded member.

In research by the U.S. Green Building Council, the construction industry accounts for 40% of worldwide energy usage. Also amount of C & D wastes in India has been estimated to be 10 - 12 million tons annually according to Central Pollution Control Board, 2017. It is high time to minimize waste and use resource efficiently. Lean Construction(LC) and Sustainable Construction(SC) has its own significant economic and environmental benefits. LC is application of lean manufacturing principles to the construction process, which helps to reduce the wastage of resources while increasing the value.SC is a comprehensive integration of environment, social and economic issues. Both lean and sustainability have their core as the efficient usage of valuable resources. The strong need for integration of LC and SC are to reduce the impact on global environment, to optimize the process and to improve the building as whole. In this ...

Prompt delivery of construction project to the client is a major issue to any construction company. To overcome and enhance the project delivery, Integrated project delivery (IPD) can be adopted successfully. The main objective of this study is to examine the factors influencing the implementation of Integrated project delivery in Indian construction projects and evaluating the performance of the project though implementing IPD. Major ten IPD influencing factors are addressed in the study among which top five factors identified though questionnaire survey for construction project carried across India and the main focus of the study is to identifying major IPD influencing factors in TCE construction projects and provided with suggestive measure to avoid same mistakes in the future.

Risk analysis is process of risk which is used to quantify and analyze risks and give the mitigation strategies for each risk. This research was conducted to identify, analyze risks and provide mitigation measures associated with Residential Projects in Bangalore. In this study, risk and its impact were identified and analyzed based on quality, safety and procurement of materials using the questionnaire survey. The impact of project risk was analyzed using qualitative risk analysis like probability of occurrence and impact of each risk based on quality, safety and procurement was found out. Separate risk heat mapping was also created and finally a risk register with risk mitigation measures was provided for impact of risk related to quality, safety, and procurement. Though it is used worldwide, it has its ill effects like the presence of pores and micro-cracks. These ill effects lead to acid intrusion and less resistance to atmospheric attack. As a result, its durability and strength get reduced. In this study attempt was made to investigate the effect of waste carbon black powder addition as filler material in concrete. Study on uniformity, surface hardness, split tensile strength, flexural strength and compressive strength of concrete specimens containing various percentages of carbon black were carried out. The effectiveness of using waste carbon black as filler in cylinders with rebar was also studied. From the experimental results, it can be seen that optimum percentage of 5% to 8% carbon black can be effectively used for enhancement of properties of concrete.

Hence strengthening beam-column joint is vital to save the structure and its inhabitants in case of seismic forces. Numerous retrofitting works using fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are being undertaken worldwide. This work aims to investigate the effectiveness of strengthening beam-column joints using natural and artificial fibres. In this study, basalt (natural fibres) as monolithic composite (BFRP) and as hybrid composite along with glass (artificial fibres) were used for strengthening of beam-column joints. Totally six specimens were prepared and tested under monotonic loading. Specimen details used were: two control specimen, two specimens for monolithic wrapping and remaining two specimens for hybrid wrapping. The test results were compared with control and rehabilitated specimens. The performance of the treated joints was studied using the following parameters: initial and ultimate cracking loads, energy absorption, deflection ductility and stiffness at ultimate. From the test results, it was found that the hybrid combination of Basalt and Glass FRPs were found to be more effective in the treatment of beam-column joints. The strong column weak beam concept was achieved by failure in beam portion which helped in preventing the catastrophic failure of the entire structure.

In this study, a detailed questionnaire covering major factors influencing work productivity has been identified by surveying the labourers and their supervisors. The relative importance index (RII) has been used to consolidate the responses and identify the key factors. Based on the factors identified a field study is conducted to develop an automatic productivity assessment tool. The worker performance is estimated using data collected from wearable devices. The data is calibrated against the site supervisor estimated labour performance by training a neuro-fuzzy interference system. The developed model can serve as a framework for the automatic assessment of labour performance in a construction site. This can find extensive applications in making the resource allocation process in major construction sites more rational.
