samples in the Nanoscale range and to minimise the usage of samples for diagnostic application.
The reflection, absorption or transmission phenomenon alters the incident light during the
interaction with the sample. A spectrometer measures this change over a range of incident
wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that has interacted with a sample. The light that acts
as a source is passed through the sample. The prepared test sample is analysed in order to
validate the developed system. Following the test samples, urine is analysed. 10 volunteers were
involved as subjects. The light from the sample passes through a slit and then reflected by a
collimating mirror. The wavelength of the light from the sample is analysed by Thermino
software in the UV and visible range. The input to this software is provided by the webcam. A
1000 lines/mm diffraction grating is utilized to split the light into its constituent wavelength.
This is a low-cost system than the available commercial spectrometers used in the laboratory.

When the terminal functions as a general purpose input/output (GPIO), the pull device is enabled on reset or on setting a control bit. For operation as a data port, the pull device is disabled, and on reset the pull device is enabled only after any pending data transaction has completed. Upon completion of the reset period the pull device is again disabled for data port operation. In one embodiment, a terminal has a first interruptible function and a second uninterruptible function. The terminal is coupled to a pull device and control logic. If the second function is active, the control logic enables the pull device with a time delay sufficient that the second function is completed prior to the enabling of the pull device.

The strength deteriorates if one or more digits of the hand are amputated. The main aim of this study was to determine the influence of single-digit exclusions on the GS. Healthy adults ( n = 102, male) with an age range of 20 to 70 years (mean ± SD, 31.92 ± 13.14 years) participated in the study. The movements of unused digits were restrained using splints to avoid digit enslaving effects. T (Thumb), (I) Index, M (Middle), R (Ring), L (Little) digits were chosen for exclusion based on the digit configurations. The digit configurations were IMRL, MRLT, IMRT IRLT and, IMLT with exclusions T, I, L, M, and, R respectively. The results of two-way ANOVA with repeated measures showed no significant interaction ( p = 0.923) between hand dominance and digit configurations. But statistical significance ( p = 0.000) was observed in digit configurations and hand dominance individually....

In medical field, magnetic resonance image (MRI) is used to discriminate pathological tissues from normal tissues, particularly for brain tumors. Many methods are proposed and already in use for the tumor segmentation. In this paper, we have proposed a new sophisticated algorithm for the segmentation of the brain tumor. The image is segmented using swarm intelligence based approach by characterizing the ecological behaviour of clown fish. The algorithm is based on the queuing characteristics of the clown fish. In this paper a step by step methodology for the automatic MRI brain tumor segmentation is presented. Initially acquired MR brain images are divided into two approximately symmetric halves. Next skull is detected. Next an ellipse is fitted to the skull boundary, from which the line of symmetry is extracted. Final step is the tumor detection. The results of the proposed ...

The aim of this work is to rigorously derive the Oseen-Frank model of cholesterics from a more fundamental model concerned with pairwise molecular interactions. A non-local mean-field model of the two-species nematic host/chiral dopant mixture is proposed, and it is shown that Oseen-Frank's elastic free energy for cholesteric liquid crystals can be obtained in a simultaneously large-domain and dilute-dopant asymptotic regime. By techniques of Γ-convergence, it is shown that in the asymptotic limit dopant-dopant interactions are negligable, the Frank constants and nematic host order parameter are unperturbed by the presence of dopant, but the mirror asymmetry of the dopant-host interaction leads to a macroscopically twisted ground state. The constant of proportionality between the helical wavenumber and dopant concentration, the helical twisting power (HTP), can be explicitly found through such an analysis, with a non-linear temperature dependence. Depending on the relative strengths of the host-host and host-dopant interactions, it is shown that HTP may increase or decrease with temperature.

There are many factors that makes PID controller most popular, such as its low cost, easy maintenance and its robustness in a large range of operating condition. Razor flip-flops are incorporated to improvise the PID’s performance, by detecting and correcting the timing errors on critical path. A novelty has been introduced in the proposed methodology, which involves a Flip Flop called Razor Clock Gated Flip Flop (RCGFF) by using PulseTriggered Flip-Flop. This proposed outlook reduces the timing error and improves the integrated sequential circuits’ robustness. RCGFF has been used to achieve high-precision, high-speed, power reduction in static and average power consumption in PID controller. The pharmacological approach to this problem often raises issues related to dependence and residual daytime side effects. An alternative approach offering a potential solution to sleep deprivation is a non-pharmacological technique. This paper presents a compact wearable sleep monitoring device prototype having the capabilities of tracking the sleep stages during the consecutive night sleep cycles, identifying the Slow Wave Sleep (SWS) stage. Embedded into the device prototype are sensors for monitoring body movements, EEG signal and heart rate during the consecutive night sleep cycles and can be used for more precise detection SWS stage.

In this paper, different image segmentation techniques applied on magnetic resonance brain images are reviewed. The selection of papers includes sources from image processing journals, conferences, books, dissertations and thesis. The conceptual details of the algorithms are explained and mathematical details are avoided for simplicity. Both broad and detailed categorizations of reviewed segmentation techniques are provided. The state of art research is provided with emphasis on developed algorithms and image properties used by them. The methods defined are not always mutually independent. Hence, their inter relationships are also stated. Finally, conclusions are drawn summarizing commonly used techniques and their complexities in application.

In practice, lesion load is often quantified by either manual or semi-automated segmentation of MRI, which is time-consuming, costly. We proposed model for automatic segmentation of multiple sclerosis lesions from brain MRI data. These techniques use a supervised classifier that is trained Support Vector Machine (SVM) to discriminate between the blocks in regions of MS lesions and the blocks in non-MS lesion regions mainly based on the textural features with aid of the other features. The main contribution of this set of frameworks is the use of textural features to detect MS lesions in a fully automated approach that does not rely on manually delineating the MS lesions. As a result, the sensitivity for detection of MS lesions was 81.5% with 2.9 false positives per slice based on a leav...

Segmentation of an image is the partition or separation of the image into disjoint regions of similar feature. We propose a method that integrates Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering and marker controlled watershed segmentation algorithm for medical image segmentation. The use of the usual watershed algorithm for medical image analysis is common because of its advantages, such as always being able to construct a complete division of the image. However, its downsides include over-segmentation and sensitivity to false edges. We concentrate on the downsides of the usual watershed algorithm when it is applied to medical images by using Fuzzy C-Means clustering to produce a primary segmentation of the image before we apply marker controlled watershed segmentation algorithm to it. The Fuzzy C-Means clustering is an unsupervised learning algorithm, while the marker controlled watershed segmentation algorithm makes use of automated thresholding...

The increasing demand to new developments in healthcare technologies poses inevitability to the thought of easing the patient monitoring in a non-invasive and unobtrusive manner. Patients, who are in need of regular checkups, find the existing modes of electrode-based and probe-based monitoring, a discomfort.
