Meditation is a spiritual discipline found in numerous religious traditions, but its philosophica... more Meditation is a spiritual discipline found in numerous religious traditions, but its philosophical foundations, objectives, and practices vary significantly across different faiths. This research paper delves into the contrasting approaches to meditation in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity, offering an in-depth exploration of their respective theological and metaphysical underpinnings. Hindu meditation emphasizes the realization of the self 's oneness with Brahman, striving for liberation from the cycle of birth and rebirth (Moksha). Buddhist meditation focuses on achieving enlightenment by understanding the impermanence of existence and the denial of a permanent self (Anatta), leading to the cessation of suffering and the attainment of Nirvana. In contrast, Christian meditation, rooted in biblical teachings, seeks personal communion with God, spiritual transformation through the Word of God, and alignment with His will. The paper highlights key practices, such as the Hindu focus on Mantra meditation, the Buddhist methods of Vipassana and Samatha, and the Christian practice of meditating on Scripture.
