International Journal of Computational Biology and Drug Design, 2010

This method does not significantly suppress the non-coding regions which may result incorrect identification. To enhance the discrimination between the coding and non-coding regions of the DNA sequence, Signal Boosting Technique (SBT) is applied on the projection coefficients which are obtained by applying MGWT. The performance of the proposed Modified Gabor-Wavelet Transform with Signal Boosting Technique (MGWT-SBT) is compared with other existing methods such as MGWT, Short-Time Discrete Fourier Transform (ST-DFT), anti-notch filter and multi-stage filter. Results show that the proposed method gives better identification accuracy as compared to other methods.

Research paper thumbnail of An Improved VME Technique via Heap Based Optimization Algorithm and AWIT Method for PLI and MA Noise Elimination in ECG

IEEE Access, 2023

Diagnosing cardiac conditions require careful examination of an electrocardiogram (ECG). However,... more Diagnosing cardiac conditions require careful examination of an electrocardiogram (ECG). However, a significant issue arises when capturing an ECG due to interference from various noises. Noises like power line interference (PLI) and muscle artifact (MA) change the morphology, making it difficult to interpret the original signal. Our research proposes an improved variational mode extraction (IVME) technique using a Heap-based optimization (HBO) algorithm and an automatic wavelet interval-dependent thresholding (AWIT) method to eliminate such noises. First, HBO uses the envelope entropy spectrum (EES) as the objective function to find the best fitness value for optimizing the VME parameter, known as penalty factor α. Then, we extract a specific mode using the optimal α value in VME to accurately remove PLI from the signal. Finally, the AWIT method automatically computes the intervals and their respective threshold values to remove excessive MA noise from the PLI-filtered ECG signal. We evaluate the efficiency of ten random real-time ECG signals from the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The result analysis proves that our algorithm can accurately extract the mode containing PLI and eradicate MA from the noisy ECG signal. It also shows improvement in signal parameters like signal-to-noise ratio (SNR improvement), mean square error (MSE), and correlation coefficients (CC) with 36.7968 dB, 0.00030901, and 99.7278%, respectively. INDEX TERMS Automatic wavelet interval-dependent thresholding, electrocardiogram signal, envelope entropy spectrum, heap-based optimization algorithm, muscle artifact, power line interference, variational mode extraction.

According to medical research, central cause of cancer is due to the genetic abnormality. Most cancers are generated due to permanent change in the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). For the past two decades, genomic signal processing (GSP) is a vital area of research. It has engrossed the consideration of digital signal processing (DSP) researchers for the massive amount of data accessible in the public data base. By finding out the DNA sequence for cancer cells & normal cells of human beings & applying some digital signal processing (DSP) approaches on both, difference between them can be found. Previously, discrete Fourier transform (DFT) power spectrum was used to predict cancer cells of a DNA sequence. In this paper, discrete cosine transform (DCT) and discrete sine transform (DST) approaches are presented as an alternative to analyze the spectral characteristics of cancer cells and normal cells. Further, post-processing is done using digital ...

An increased volume of vehicles not only increases the chances for them being involved in accidents. According to a report published in Times of India, 146,133 people were killed in road accidents in India in the year 2016. Unfortunately, about 30% of deaths are caused due to delayed ambulance. Another data shows that more than 50% of heart attack cases reach hospital late. Everybody detests traffic clog, and it continues deteriorating, despite endeavoured cures. In this manner, emergency vehicles stuck in a road turned parking lot and deferred in arriving at their goal can cause loss of property and significant lives. This paper provides the knowledge of all kind of techniques used till now to make traffic management system for emergency vehicle better and make it easier for people to reach on time to the hospital. Explain ways to get the best route while maintaining a cloud using IoT based system and various algorithms to various ways to detect ambulance using image processing and fuzzy logic.

Protein-target interactions are very specific in nature and occur at predefined locations in proteins known as hotspots. For successful protein-target interaction both protein and target must share common spectral component known as characteristic frequency. Characteristic frequency is very importance since it forms basis for protein-target interactions, thus far various computational simulations have been used for determination of characteristics frequency. In this paper we have applied all computational simulations used till now and also use comparative study based on computational time and Signal to Noise Ratio parameter to stress the best suitable technique. The design of a second-order cascaded multi-notch filter using MATLAB has been implemented. The performance and characteristics of the filter has been shown. Here, we have considered many ECG signals database from Physio Bank ATM and added them with odd noise harmonics since there are fluctuations that occur in the power line interference of 50Hz frequency and its odd frequency harmonics. So original ECG signal is combined with odd noise harmonics and a cascaded multi-notch IIR filter is constructed so that noise harmonics can be removed efficiently, so that there would be no corruption in the actual ECG signal. Various noise parameter schemes have been computed to show the effectiveness of the designed filter. The noise parameters we considered are its correlation with the original signal, its signal to noise ratio(SNR) and root mean square e...

A bandpass filter designed is also implemented to filter out undesirable frequencies which may be present along with the input signal. This was carried out in software and hardware. The inspiration is drawn from various research papers and articles online and it is very intriguing to work with All pass filters given the wide scale real-life applications of All pass filters in places where one could never even imagine for them to be present.
