In this paper the Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimization technique, is successfully applied for tuning PI controller used in conical tank level process and hence to minimize the integral time absolute error (ITAE). A conical tank level process is represented as first order plus dead time transfer function. It is obtained by deriving mathematical differential equation and implemented in MATLAB. The main objective is to obtain a minimum rise time, minimum setting time, stable and controlled system by tuning the PI controller using Genetic Algorithm optimization technique. The incurred value is compared with the adaptive tuning techniques like gain scheduling and is proved better. An experimental setup of three tank level process in interacting and non- interacting mode was studied, to obtain the process models. Different control schemes such as Internal model controller (IMC), IMC-PID and Proportional –Integral and Derivative (PID) were implemented. The goal of the model-based controller is to compensate for shifts in the process and maintain the liquid level on target. The performance of different control schemes were investigated through computer simulation.

In this paper Ziegler- Nichols controller, Tyreus and Luyben controller, Cohen Coon controller are used to control the level of the conical tank. The controller is designed based on the mathematical model of the system. Non-linear variation is exigent in conical tank because of some of the awkwardness compared to linear system based on analysis, non-linear system is preferred by number of industries. For disposal of solid material non-linear is the system will be best supporter for controller used for conical tank. In this work, a non linear tank process is identified as first order plus dead time model and identified model is used for controller implementation. The closed loop response of process system is obtained using MATLAB simulink. Based upon obtained results and time domain specifications best tuning PID controller parameter is highlighted.

Industries are the huge developing areas in which all the complex systems are involved. They invo... more Industries are the huge developing areas in which all the complex systems are involved. They involve controlling and tuning of the controllers of processes with streams like gases, liquids, powders, slurries etc.[2] They exhibit variations due to the changes in the operating level. This, in fact is the very nature of a non linear process. So, for this reason, researcher prefers controller design and tuning by specifying their design level of operation. This performance changes may be tolerable in some applications and unacceptable in others. In this paper, non linear process of a spherical tank is controlled and tuned using certain methods such as damped oscillation method, modified ZN method,[1] TL, ZNCL methods[2][6]. Here the controllers are designed stimulated using mat lab simulink. The best among PID controller settings is identified by time domain analysis.

In this work, adaptive control technique is discussed in control of single conical tank level control system is a nonlinear system is identified mathematically. Analytical modeling were implemented and simulated in MATLAB SIMULINK and transfer function isobtain from the simulated response and PI controller parameter were derived for implementing gain scheduling adaptive controller and synthesis based method is used to obtain PI parameters for multiple linear models. The simulation studies were carried out for two controller parameters. From the results based on Performance indices like Integral Squared Error (ISE), it is proved the controller implemented using gain scheduling adaptive control technique out performs well over synthesis method based tuned multi PI controller.

The effectiveness of the control scheme has been studied on a TTCILS process in MATLAB environment.

In Western Sahara, longest conveyor belt is used for 98km from Bu craa to the coast south of EI-aaiun. These mechanical equipment used for control, storage, products and goods throughout manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal of materials at all shapes and sizes. Belt conveyors are mostly used in package handling, raw material handling and used for elevation change or incline/decline applications. The product of weight of the load and speed of the motor to get actual flowrate of solid. We can control the speed of the motor by using PID controller. Load carrying element is a metal or, less frequently, plastic or wood bed consisting of separate slats mounted on one or more free rollers.

In this work, a conical tank level process is identified as first order plus dead time model (FOPTD). Control of level in conical tank is a complex issue but in the presence of gravity discharge flow conical tanks are used in industrial unit. PSO algorithm is used to tune the parameters of PI controller to control the level of the liquid in the conical tank. Efficacy of proposed method has been validated through a comparative study with gain scheduling method. The proposed method has excellent features of high computational efficiency.
