Tobaccos negative effects are well-known, and there is strong evidence that its constituents are responsible for cancer, oral problems, other health hazards and even deaths. Also, tobacco users with COVID-19 have higher risk of severity. Therefore, Cessation is necessary to lower this risk from coronavirus, and other illnesses. Consumers are looking for alternative methods to quit tobacco use. Numerous pharmacologicaland non-pharmacological strategies havebeen tried for tobacco cessation.Although pharmacological approaches have been reported more effective but non pharmacological approaches are also gaining importance and popularity. This review article is primarily focused on non-pharmacological approaches for Tobacco Cessation.

Other than certain institutes which hold their own examinations, this competitive, norm-referenced test has been representing the sole gateway to the bulk of residency positions across the nation since its beginning in 2017. The all-India ranks (AIRs), a metric that utilises examination score alone, obtained here also act as the foundation for Diplomate of National Board (DNB) counselling. Currently, for courses of pulmonary medicine or 'tuberculosis and chest disease', there exist 693 seats of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and 47 seats of Diploma.

The material was grown in four different test environment in randomized block design with three replications to identify the stable genotypes under different environments. The genotypes WH 711, DBW 17, PBW 343, UP 2338, WH 542, HD 2687, PBW 550, WH 416 and were promising for grain yield. A major portion of G×E was accounted by non-linear component for days to heading, days to maturity and biological yield per plant. However, the linear portion was higher for number of grains per spike, effective tillers per plant and protein (%). The genotypes WH 711, DBW 17, PBW 343, UP 2338, HD 2687, WH 416 and WH 283 were found stable for grain yield in all the environments, because they had above average mean, βi value equal to zero and non-significant S 2 di value. It means that these were less responsive to the environmental changes and therefore, more adaptive.. The genotypes WH 1052 and WH 1053 were found stable for favourable environment as these genotypes were having high mean performance with high response and least deviation from regression.

There has been a profound link between nutrition and lung health. Malnutrition could lead to poor lung
development. Various diet such as Mediterranean diet, prudent diet, etc. have reported their protective
effect against respiratory diseases while westernized dietary patterns and fast-food intake could cause poor
lung health. Fruits and vegetables constituting various vitamins and minerals provide antioxidant shield to

to have beneficial role for the lung’s wellbeing. Its anti-inflammatory property helps to combat respiratory
diseases such as asthma, cystic fibrosis and COPD. Even in the chronic conditions such as lung cancer it
works as an important constituent of nutritional therapy. It also impairs immune responses against various
infections and strengthen lungs. To our surprise it has also proven positive effects over smoking cessation
also. However, more research is certainly needed to identify the chief role of nutrients involved in managing
respiratory diseases and their implications in practicality.

Lockdown during COVID 19 has greatly impacted the life of the people physically as well as mentally. It immensely
changed the lifestyle, dietary intake and nutritional status of the people. An online survey was conducted through Google forms to assess the effect
of lockdown on dietary intake and nutritional status of the college going students. The sample size was 134 and the subjects were chosen from
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. COVID 19 pandemic left a scar in almost everyone's life. Apart from the disease Lockdown was another drastic
unexpected thing to happen during this period. From the study it was concluded that Lockdown has changed the life of the people. For some
people it was in the positive side and for some it was negative. People's sleep time as well as duration both changed during lockdown. Very few
were gym person and mainly focused on healthy balanced diet including fruits, vegetable, egg, cereals and pulses for their body. We have also
noticed that their hygiene and sanitation condition improved with the awareness of COVID 19. People are focusing more on immune booster
foods with proper meal timings and healthy diet. Still due to more of sedentary lifestyle and less physical exercise, people have experienced
change in weight, out of which more people are observed with increased in their body weight.

The small-cell and large-cell variants of this cancer comprise 20% of all lung cancers. However, large-cell neuroendocrine tumor (LCNET) is not frequent and seen in about less than 3% of cases of lung cancer. Here, we describe a young nonsmoker male with the unholy triad of LCNET, newly diagnosed diabetes mellitus, and skin metastasis.

Till date there is no promising drug and vaccine available to treat this deadly viral infection. In the early phase chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulphate have been used to fight this illness on the basis of handful observational and small randomized and small-randomized studies. The paucity of clinical evidences of an unequivocal beneficial effect of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine on COVID-19 has resulted in the passionate use of the drug for moderate to severe cases only and stimulated the need for large clinical trials for this and other molecules. In this review, we describe in brief the mechanism of action, the clinical studies, factors for cardiac toxicity, guidelines and future directions for hydroxychloroquine use in management of COVID-19 infection.

It is classified under “salivary gland type” tumors in the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of lung cancers. It generally carries a better prognosis than the more common small cell and nonsmall cell lung carcinomas. It is pathologically classified into high-grade and low-grade tumors. High-grade tumors are usually unresectable at presentation. However, surgery is the mainstay of treatment, which aims at surgically negative margins for a complete cure. In our patient, pulmonary MEC presented with intrathoracic mass with pericardial effusion. It came out to be low-grade neoplasm, which was treated with platinum-based doublet chemotherapy and responded well with near-total disappearance of tumor, like a vanishing lung tumor.

However, a considerable amount of patients do develop COPD without exposure to cigarette smoking. We aimed to analyze the incidence, demographic and clinical profile of nonsmoker COPD subjects at a tertiary care center. Methods: In this prospective observational study, 410 patients were screened for dyspnea. On the basis of spirometry findings, 360 patients were diagnosed as COPD and enrolled into the study. Patients were categorized into 2 groups on the basis of smoking habits (smoker and nonsmoker COPD). Clinical and demographic attributes were compared in between these two groups. This study was conducted over a period of one year, from August 2014 to July 2015. All statistical analyses were performed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 19.0 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA). Values were considered to be statistically significant at P < 0.05. Results: Out of 360 COPD cases, about 2/3rd (60%) were smokers and the rest nonsmokers. Majority of the patients were in the age group of 51-70 years. The mean age of smokers with COPD was significantly higher than nonsmokers with COPD (59.29 ± 10.28 years vs. 53.90 ± 8.77 years; P = 0.0001). Overall, males were predominant (57.2%) but there were higher number of female patients in nonsmoker group (25% vs. 70%; P = 0.001). At presentation, majority of nonsmoker with COPD were in GOLD severity grade II while in the smoking cohort majority were in GOLD severity Grade III. Among the 144 nonsmoker COPD patients, the most important and statistically significant risk factor was exposure to biomass smoke (68.06%). Other risk factors were long-standing asthma (37.50%), lower respiratory tract infection in childhood (32.60%), exposure to outdoor air pollution (17.92%). Conclusion: Nonsmoker COPD is emerging as a distinctive phenotype. They have less impairment in airflow limitation, and a lower prevalence of emphysema, chronic cough, and sputum compared with their smoking counterparts.

According to World Health Organization, a TB patient can be completely cured with 6-9 months of anti-TB treatment under directly observed treatment short course. The aim of this study was to check the mono, multi- and triple-drug resistance to first line drugs (FLDs) among TB patients and to access their genetic profile using DR 3074, DR 0270, DR 0642, DR 2068, and DR 4110 using molecular techniques. To gain a better understanding of drug resistant TB, we characterized 121 clinical isolates recovered from 159 drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis patients by IS6110 genotyping. MTB isolates recovered from HIV- negative, and smear positive cases of both genders, age varied from 18 to 70 years with drug resistant-TB that was refractory to chemotherapy given for > 12 months. Of a total of 159 sputum smear positive patients sum number of male and female patients was 121 (76.1...

Asthma is defined simply as reversible airway obstruction. Reversibility occurs either spontaneously or with treatment. The basic measurement is peak flow rates and the diagnostic criteria used by the British Thoracic Society. [4] Yoga is known for its beneficial effects on physiologic and psychologic functions and improves the quality of life of the patients. [5-12] During the last 3 decades, extensive physiologic research has been done on yogic practices. It has been reported that yoga can increase muscular efficiency, endurance time, [13] and aerobic capacity and can reduce perceived exertion after exercise. [14-16] Chronic inflammation plays a major role in the pathogenesis of asthma, and it has long been recognized that many of the inflammatory cells that are Access this article online Website: www.ijoy.org.in Quick Response Code

Laboratory differentiation between MTBC and NTM by routine methods are time consuming and cumbersome to perform. We have evaluated the role of GenoType® Mycobacterium common mycobacteria/additional species (CM/AS) assay for differentiation between MTBC and different species of NTM in clinical isolates from tuberculosis (TB) cases. Materials and Methods: A total of 1080 clinical specimens were collected from January 2010 to June 2012. Diagnosis was performed by Ziehl-Neelsen staining followed by culture in BacT/ALERT 3D system (bioMerieux, France). A total of 219 culture positive clinical isolates (BacT/ALERT® MP cultures) were selected for differentiation by p-nitrobenzoic acid (PNB) sensitivity test as and BIO-LINE SD Ag MPT64 TB test considering as the gold standard test. Final identification ...

Identification of INH resistance is largely based on the occurrence of mutations in the katG gene, coding for the catalase-peroxidase, or in the promoter region
