A one-shot survey was administered to 1,696 purposively selected residents. Data are analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results revealed that almost all the respondents had experience with disasters, especially earthquake, flood, and fire. Most of them have moderate to high level of knowledge of disaster and DRRM. In general, they had positive attitudes toward the importance of information on disasters and DRRM. The study reveals that there is significant relationship between the respondents’ knowledge of and attitudes towards disasters and DRRM; knowledge of disasters and DRRM, and practices during and after earthquake and flood; and attitudes towards disasters and DRRM, and practices before, during, and after disasters. The study concludes that the respondents’ communication behaviors as well as their media and non-media sources of information are significantly related to their level of knowledge of and attitude towards disasters and DRRM information, and their practices before, after, and during disasters.

A total of 25 e-forum participants were surveyed and interviewed. Data gathered were analyzed descriptively using frequency counts, percentages, and weighted means. Moreover, relationships were examined using the chi square test of independence. Findings showed that respondents who were female, had high educational attainment, and who worked in the academe tend to participate more actively in the learning modes used by the IBSEA project. In general, e-forum participants had very good basic communication skills. However, language barrier served as the most common communication constraint among them. Most of the participants rated their skills in computer software and Internet connection methods as “poor”, respectively. However, they were very good in using various hardware...

This descriptive qualitative research evaluates such experiential approach to learning history by investigating the experiences and insights of a group of students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), who participated in Katipuneros RPG.Design/methodology/approachTextual data obtained from the participants' reflection papers and focus group discussion transcripts were analyzed using open and axial coding.FindingsThree key themes summarized the participants' learning experiences as they went through the play, as follows: (1) Katipuneros RPG as an immersive, interactive and intrinsically motivating medium for learning history; (2) the knowledge, values and skills that served as facilitating factors for their learning...

To analyze the effect of flipped classroom with peer instruction on Chemistry achievement, a two-group quasi-experimental pretest-posttest research design was used. In addition, student perception and participation were conducted using a post-implementation survey. In the flipped classroom with peer instruction, the students were introduced to the lesson using the science courseware developed by the Department of Science and Technology and YouTube videos as pre-class activities. The in-class activity was focused on answering concept questions through peer instruction. Findings show that the two groups of students significantly increased their Chemistry achievement after the implementation of the teaching strategies. However, the students in the flipped classroom with peer instruction had higher Chemistry achievement, high...
