The present analysis concerned the areas cultivated with wheat, and the productions achieved in relation to the quantities of fertilizers and protection products used in wheat cultivation, in Romania, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, Poland and the UK. The analysis highlighted that, the average productions are influenced both by the technology used, by the fertilization and treatments applied, as well as by other synergistic factors that intervene in wheat crops. In countries such as Spain and Italy, the correlation between the amounts of N (nitrogen), P2O5 (phosphorus), K2O (potassium) and the average production of wheat is insignificant, but in Romania and Hungary, there i...

We conducted an in-depth investigation in order to identify the reasons behind the underdevelopment of agricultural cooperatives in Romania, as well as the solutions that the representatives of cooperatives see, starting from the premise that they are the main connoisseurs of this activity, knowing the strengths, but especially the weaknesses of this activity, by administering a questionnaire-based survey as the main research tool. Clearly, cooperative representatives are aware of the socio-economic implications and role of cooperatives, with average values closer to “total agreement”, especially in terms of contribution to food security.

Liberalisation of the labour market is resulting in greater flexibility in the supply of agricult... more Liberalisation of the labour market is resulting in greater flexibility in the supply of agricultural workers, which is particularly noticeable within the European Union. The aim of the study is to identify the causes that have led to a decrease in the number of jobs in agriculture, given that it is a basic activity for rural inhabitants in Romania. In order to identify the causes that contributed to the decrease in the number of jobs in agriculture, the data were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively, using two statistical methods to describe the variability between the observed elements: factor analysis and Pearson coefficient. The results of the study indicate that the degree of mechanisation leads to better land use, bringing considerable increases in yields. At the same time, the degree of mechanisation leads to a decrease in the need for manual (unskilled) labour, as many activities are now automated.

The aim of this paper is to provide an improved understanding of the state of the literature on the impacts of climate change that can be addressed through measures related to disaster risk reduction, sustainable agricultural practices, and the circular economy. This review also represents a valuable and fundamental reference for both researchers and practitioners in these fields. A total of 74,703 articles (climate change adaptation, 45,030; disaster risk reduction, 5920; sustainable agricultural practices, 7940; circular economy, 15,813) published between 1990 and 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection, and the links between these areas were mapped using VOSviewer. There has been an increase in the amount of published research on these four topics since 2007, indicating the increasing involvement of researchers to address these topics, influenced by the ...

Thus, the study tracks the level of openness of farmers to implementing the measures that European policy makers will take in the coming period. Taking into account the fact that agriculture plays a particularly important economic role, due to the share of agricultural products in Romania’s total exports, particularly in plant production, a quantitative survey was carried out among Romanian farmers, using a questionnaire as an instrument, with a total of 407 respondents. The farmers interviewed undoubtedly recognize that the problems they face are caused by the effects of climate change and are willing to adapt, seek and implement the necessary solutions. The most problematic climatic phenomenon identified by far...

The analysis was carried out within the eight NUTS-listed development regions. A bibliometric analysis of the importance of the academic environment for agricultural labour force research was previously carried out using VOSviewer software. The content of this document aims to determine the impact that the agricultural labour force has on the productivity of the five main crops cultivated in Romania over large areas during the period 2015–2019, where, although the population employed in agriculture has decreased, the yields of these crops have increased due to the technological development process st...

Research paper thumbnail of Models Underlying the Success Development of Family Farms in Romania

Sustainability, 2022

A family farm is an important part of the countryside, both economically and especially socially.... more A family farm is an important part of the countryside, both economically and especially socially. In recent years, legislative measures have encouraged the development of large farms, ensuring food security while neglecting family farms, which are characterised by a lack of organisation, the absence of proper classification and the absence of measures to encourage their development and protection. In order to identify the premises underlying the development of family farms, and to create a development model for those family farms in a poor economic situation, the BMC method and SWOT analysis of seven family farms considered successful models were used. The development of these types of farms could provide a solution to a major problem facing the Romanian countryside: the depopulation of rural areas. The results of the study show that the development of these types of farms is based on joining an associative form (cooperatives) and/or making investments in the processing/storage line...

Normally, Romanian rural localities should show significant differences from one development region to another, being influenced by a number of factors (geographical positioning, the influence of agriculture in the economy, etc.). In this sense, data were collected from the town halls of the localities from Calarasi and Timis counties. The analyzed data were processed by the linear regression method, and the estimation of the evolution of the population was determined using the Vensim simulation program. The paper identifies a pattern in rural localities in Romania that hinders their development, reflected by various socio-economic indicators available in the analyzed localities. The main factor that can change this pattern in rural localities is the influence of local and national decision-makers, who can encourage investment in these areas...

Research paper thumbnail of Analysis on the Granting of Direct Payments in Romania and Bulgaria

So, time is critical and highly sensitive, being the last chance to reduce major differences compared to other countries, them benefited from such support on a much higher period than countries new entrants disfavored them up to a large extent thereon. It also represents a tremendous help of direct payments to farmers, contributing to their living standards and continuing their activities in agriculture. This paper seeks to highlight the need for support in agriculture so that by processing the statistical data it can be concluded that in both countries, even after the passing of seven years, regarding the first programming period, the situations are not solved completely, so these measures should be further enforced to help farmers.

This paper is identify from the point of view of legislation, how to classify holdings according to agricultural activity, but how they are classified according to economic size. The aim of the work is to identify the evolution of the number of holdings influenced by various factors, but also to determine the position that Romania must have with regard to agricultural holdings in relation to other countries of the European Union. The quantitative and qualitative method of data analysis was used in this paper. Also, the analyzed data show that the methods of subsidizing and financing agricultural holdings have contributed to the decrease in the total number of agricultural holdings (mergers) in Romania.

The cause of the occurrence of collinearity is the incomplete data base and that ideally, the elimination of the occurrence of autocorrelation is achieved by knowing the effect stage for all possible combinations of the variants of the factors involved. In many cases, the practical realization of such a desideratum is impossible. Such a difficulty is especially specific to statistical processing in the economic, social and psychological field. Neither multi-factorial experiments of agrobiological nature are not avoided by such difficulties. Consequently, to the researcher remain at his disposal methods of distributing collinearity on influence factors using methods based on the calculation of partial correlation coefficients (Merce E., 1986; Moineagu C., 1974). With obvious computing facilities, compared to the evoked methods, the authors suggest using an original method based on the principle of proportional distribution of autocorrelation with the proportion of simple determinations, following the next six steps, the last four are solved instantly after the first two steps have been solved: 1. The calculation of the multiple correlation coefficient and simple correlation coefficients using the Regression function of the Data Analysis component of Microsoft Excel Program; 2. Given the particularities of the sector, the quantitative and qualitative analysis of data shows that the agricultural sector needs to increase the areas cultivated under protected areas, thus reducing the off-season periods, which would contribute to the diminution of dependence on vegetable imports. This would also have a significant role in reducing the trade deficit in this segment.
