The experiment was conducted with 240 males broilers chicks, Cobb 500, were distributed in floor pens of 2m2 each, with one tubular feeder, one pendular drinker, an electrical brooder and on the top of rice hulls. An entirely randomized experimental design was used, with 3 treatments and 4 replicates with 20 birds each, which received, diets containing 0, 20 and 40% of broken rice. Data were submitted to Analisis of regression. Weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion to the1- 21, 1- 35 and 1-42 days of age, litter humidity, carcass, liver, breast, thigh and drumstick yield did not present significant difference. The gizzard and the carcass pigmentation decreased lineally with the increase of the level of broken rice in the diet. It is concluded with that the inclusion of up to 40% of broken rice in diet substituting the corn for broiler does not affect the performance, and carcass yield.

A total of 264 genetically homogeneous crossbred sows were used. They were blocked by farrowing order and randomly allotted to four treatments, in a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement (lactating diet (LD) x pre-starter diet (PD)), with two levels per factor (with or without EC). The following variables were measured in the sows: weaning weight; weaning weight variation; backfat; backfat variation; body condition; feed consumption and milk composition. The following variables were measured in the litter: feed consumption; post-natal weight; weaning weight; and average weaning weight. No interaction was found among LD and PD for any of the variables studied. Additionally, no effect was observed for either, female weight, backfat, body condition score or milk composition (fat content, crude protein, lactose and dry matter). Litter weaning weight and average litter weaning weight were higher when LD was supplemented with EC in comparison to the piglets from sows fed with diets without EC (74.6 vs 72.9kg and 6.32 vs 6.47kg, respectively). Litters from female fed with CE were 1.7kg heavier at weaning and showed a 0.15kg increase in the average weaning weight (P=0.06; P=0.07, respectively). This resulted in an estimate 2.27kg increase in the body weight at slaughter. Lactating sows fed with diets containing enzymatic complex with carbohydrases had heavier litters at weaning.

Impact P® is a commercial product obtained from Bacillus subtillis and it enzymes. Using animal litter and organic matter as a feed source, the product was designed to improve the quality of floor pens of broiler breeders. When hens aged 58 weeks, all used floor pens material was replaced with a new one and the following treatments were tested: T1 - control; T2 - 2.5g Impact P® m-2 litter; T3- 5.0g Impact P® m-2 litter. Counting of number of enterobacterium colonies in agar Mac-ConcKey was performed in a sample of new floor pens material and after 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 days of litter treatment with Impact P®. The statistical analysis was accomplished with the General Linear Models - GLM procedure, using the minimum square method in a 3x4 factorial (treatment vs. time of floor pens utilization), in a completely randomized design with four replications. The averages were compared by Tukey test. The utilization of 5.0g Impact P® m-2 litter was efficient to reducing approximately 13% logarithmic total counting of the enterobacterium in comparison to the untreated group (2.89 versus 3.31log10 (CFU), respectively, P<0.05).

Four treatments were tested: (T1) control (without quicklime); (T2) 300g quicklime m-2; (T3) 600g quicklime m-2; and (T4) 900g quicklime m-2. The following average pH values were observed 12 days after adding quicklime: 8.95, 9.91, 10.75 and 11.11 for treatments 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. An 82 and 97% reduction in the most probable number Log10 (CFU) of Salmonella and Clostridium spp, respectively, was observed when 300g m-2 of quicklime was added to the used litter from floor pens of broilers. Additionally, a 100% reduction was obtained when both 600 and 900g m-2 of quicklime were added, differing significantly from control (before adding quicklime). A progressive reduction in water activity (from 0.2 to 3.82%) was observed when growing levels of quicklime were used. In conclusion, even the lowest level of quicklime added to litter from floor pens of broilers reduces the most probable number of Salmonella and Clostridium spp

We compare the Brazilian production from 2001 to 2005 with some Latin American, Latin European, BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China), and other relevant countries (South Korea, Australia and USA). We also classify and compare these countries according to the ratio of publications in journals and conferences (the ones indexed by the two services).

The results show that Brazil has by far the largest production among Latin American countries, has a production about one third of Spain’s, one fourth of Italy’s, and about the same as India and Russia. The growth in Brazilian publications during the period places the country in the mid-range group and the distribution of Brazilian production according to impact factor is similar to most countries.
Sentiment analysis is the fundamental component in text-driven monitoring or forecasting systems,... more Sentiment analysis is the fundamental component in text-driven monitoring or forecasting systems, where the general sentiment towards real-world entities (e.g., people, products, organizations) are analyzed based on the sentiment signals embedded in a myriad of web text available today. Building such systems involves several practically important problems, from data cleansing (e.g., boilerplate removal, web-spam detection), and sentiment analysis at individual mention-level (e.g., phrase, sentence-, document-level) to the aggregation of sentiment for each entity-level (e.g., person, company) analysis. Most previous research in sentiment analysis however, has focused only on individual mention-level analysis, and there has been relatively less work that copes with other practically important problems for enabling a large-scale sentiment monitoring system. In this paper, we propose Empath, a new framework for evaluating entity-level sentiment analysis. Empath leverages objective measurements of entities in various domains such as people, companies, countries, movies, and sports, to facilitate entity-level sentiment analysis and tracking. We demonstrate the utility of Empath for the evaluation of a large-scale sentiment system by applying it to various lexicons using Lydia, our own large scale text-analytics tool, over a corpus consisting of more than a terabyte of newspaper data. We expect that Empath will encourage research that encompasses end-to-end pipelines to enable a large-scale text-driven monitoring and forecasting systems.
