For these purposes, the results of several different test series are compared and discussed. Based on investigations on passivity and pitting corrosion in alkaline solutions with different chloride contents further results in cement paste, mortar and concrete are evaluated.

It is a direct measurement method without an extensive sample preparation. Concrete is a multi phase system. With LIBS it is possible to distinguish the different phases and based on that to correlate the chloride content to the cement mass. This is done by scanning the surface with a resolution of up to 0.1 mm. The high measurement frequency of 100 Hz or even higher allows the in-situ visualization of the chloride content over the measured area. With a calibration a quantification of chloride concentration is possible. As an example the LIBS measurement on a 50 mm by 70 mm area with a resolution of 0.5 mm and the visualization of the chloride distribution takes only 10 minutes. Additionally it is possible to evaluate the carbonation depth from the same measurement. Examples of practical application to determine the chloride-to-cement-content on concrete samples are presented. The possibilities and the limitations of LIBS are discussed.

Email: mpw3502@163.com Abstract To improve the corrosion resistance of Ti–6Al–4V (TC4) matrix, the influence on the corrosion behavior, microhardness, and microstructure of graphene oxide (GO)‐reinforced TC4 nanocomposites manufactured by selective laser melting was systematically investigated in this study. Microhardness tester, profilometer, X‐ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemical workstation were used to characterize the association between microhardness, pore microstructures, hard phases, and corrosion resistance of GO/TC4 nanocomposites. It can be observed that the incorporation of GO promotes the in situ formation of hard phases, such as TiC, TiO2, Al2O3, and so forth, and it also changes the microstructure of the matrix as well as increases its porosity. Nevertheless, GO/TC4 nanocomposites perform the best corrosion resis...

KG, Ruhlsdorfer Straße 7, 14513 Teltow, Germany. Email: eichler@corr-less.de Abstract A wide range of parameters was investigated by numerical calculations concerning their impact on DC stray current corrosion of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. A simplified model geometry was used to extract the relevant parameters and their interaction in terms of stray current‐affected structures. This study mainly focuses on RC structures that are fitted with cathodic protection installations. The findings reveal a complex interaction between the investigated parameters. The possible relevance of further parameters, which is not the subject of this study, was emphasised.

It is a goal of the current research to study the influence of mechanical cracks on chloride ingress. A compact reinforced concrete specimen was designed, mimicking the cracking behaviour of beam elements. Cracks of different widths were induced by means of mechanical loading. These cracked specimens were then subjected to 45 weekly cycles of wetting and drying with NaCl solution. After the exposure, the specimens were cut, and chloride profiles determined using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), an innovative technique which enables simultaneous determination of different elements with high spatial resolution and minimal specimen preparation. Combining different element distributions,
