This essay comprises three chapters: the first one introduces the figure of Robortello as researcher and Aeschylean philologist ante litteram; the second one illustrates the intrinsic characteristics of his edition of Aeschylus (comprehensive of tragedies and scholia), pointing out its main newness, that is the publication of seven Aeschylean tragedies: Robortello has the worth to have discovered that big gap among Agamemnon and Coephori, which has conducted him to the agnitio Coephororum. The third chapter introduces the examination of a small sampling of passages taken from his edition of the Persians, in which the choices operated by the Utinense appear particularly meaningful insofar as they unveil his wish to emend a text conforming to his own conception of Aeschylus.
