Nanotechnology (the mechanics of Quantum Theory) is science, engineering, medicine and technology... more Nanotechnology (the mechanics of Quantum Theory) is science, engineering, medicine and technology conducted at the Nanoscale, which is about 1 to 100 Nanometers (1 billionth of a meter) on the metric scale and involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating matter at this length scale (10 -9). Therefore, the subsets of Nanotechnology – Nanoscience, Nano-biology and Nanomedicine -- involve the ability to see and to control individual atoms and molecules “the internal movement of matter with a certain external cause” (Tudor 227) at the Nanoscale. The focus of this discussion is the “miracles,” described in the Judeo/Christian Old Testament and the Christian New Testament. This paper postulates that God, Jesus, the heavenly angels, and their human emissaries (Moses, Aaron, Elijah, the disciples/apostles) tapped, harnessed and applied similar scientific techniques (albeit far advanced beyond what mankind has done today) to accomplish what are often referred to as “miracles” (secular, “magic”). Therefore, what we in the religious communities have long referred to as “miracles” (as are recounted throughout Holy Scripture and non-canonical Scriptures as well) were actually the results of advanced technologies applied.

What Scripture says happened on each of the six “days” of Creation precisely parallels the timeline scientists have determined to have occurred during the universe’s 13.7-billion-years of existence and Earth’s 4.7-billion-year development as is currently measured by Earth time.

Inherent in the Creation (“Intelligent Design”) vs. Theory of Evolution (“natural selection”) War, is the scientific belief in the millennia-long “evolution” of humankind, versus the Christian belief in the creation of the Biblical Adam and Eve circa 7,700 B.C. I show that, over the course of millions of years, God created and re-created humankind in successive stages, which accounts for the non-linear progression of humanoids. I also argue that after God created Homo sapiens – early modern man – He created the Biblical Adam and Eve circa 9,700 years ago, and that Adam and Eve were the prototypes for present-day man, referred to in my paper as Homo sapiens sapiens. Mitochondria DNA evidence suggests that under the skin, all humans today are 99.99% alike (Scientists 2000), which leads directly back to a single female – the Biblical Eve. Moreover, archaeological and Biblical evidence suggests that Eve and Adam were created during the Mesolithic Period and co-existed with Homo sapiens (Cro-Magnon) during the Mesolithic/Neolithic Periods. Anatomist Alan Thorne became intrigued enough with the discovery of the Australian Mungo Lady and Mungo Man, that he ordered tests to be conducted on these and other Mungo fossils, and published the results in January 2001. The first discovery was that the Australian Aborigine fossils dated back to 60,000 years. Geneticist Gregory Adcock of Australian National University then extracted the DNA from the interior of the bones in a manner so as to avoid contamination. He “compared mitochondria DNA from an early-modern Australian” [Mungo Man] with that of the mitochondria DNA of contemporary man, and they did not match. Furthermore, “His [Mungo Man’s] mitochondria DNA signature did not match anyone's, living or fossil, on Earth. There was no evidence that he was genetically related to ancient Africans” (D'Agnese 2002, 56). Anthropologist Alan Mann of Princeton University remarked: “The people of Mungo were totally modern looking and were expected to carry the DNA we have, but they didn't” (ibid. 56).

ACCORDING TO STRONG’S HEBREW OLD TESTAMENT DICTIONARY, THE WORD DAY IS DERIVED FROM THE HEBREW WORD YOWM WHICH MEANS “TO BE HOT” (REFERENCE # 3117). THIS MAY EXPLAIN HOW “YOWM” CAME TO BE TRANSLITERATED IN THE BIBLE AS THE TIME WHEN EARTH’S SUN IS SHINING UPON IT -- THE LITERAL TIME OF DAYLIGHT. YET, ITS TRUE MEANING -- “AN AGE” OR “A SPACE OF TIME” -- WAS SOMEHOW LOST IN TRANSLATION ACCORDING TO THE WHORF-SAPIR HYPOTHESIS.

For that reason Religion was always a subject for endless study in different perspectives and with different outcomes. We all know as a fact that a global influence over Society is been done by and through Religion. In this case, is Religion a threat for human evolution as seen by some? Or, is Religion a factor of regress or even a mean of fighting against reason, science and rationality? Or, on the contrary, can we fight crime and other social conflicts through religious means? There are lots of examples regarding the involvement of religion in the civil society and its influences upon it. We can see that these influences are regarded lately as negative and there are significant efforts, concerted by politics, education, and even culture life-style that are trying to diminish this impact religious views have on human civilization. In this context what would be the ideas any field of science and theology can bring to a dialogue in the mutual benefit of both Society and Religion? Should we exclude religious representatives from the table of civilization’s values and leave no place for religion in this new, post-post-modern re-organization of Society, or this cannot / shouldn't be the case at all? What can be today the function of religion in a utopian community? How does the place of the visionary tradition change in the context of the “return of the religion” in a post-secular society? What compromises are religions compelled to make in order to still be considered as a real player on the market? Considering all these sides of relationship between Society & Religion, this panel seeks papers that study and comment on any aspect of the relationship of faith, Religion, Churches, and Civil Society in the contemporary era, and its aftermath. Moreover, any idea, proposal, research, apology, or theory that can help people understand the ground of these inter-relations and even come to a solution - especially from the fields of science less known, but not least involved, i.e. Management, Economy, Demography, et.all. - are most welcome for this panel.
