Landmark is conspicuous physical mark of a city or a region. It is an important element of a plac... more Landmark is conspicuous physical mark of a city or a region. It is an important element of a place that gives the place a special character and identity. Landmark can be mountains or hills, tall buildings, religious buildings, tall trees, etc. A landmark have to meet the landmark criteria; it has to be special and unique, easy to remember, easy to recognize, and its visual element can be enhanced by sound and scent. It also has to have more value, historically and aesthetically, so that it attracts people to come to the place. A landmark has to be in a strategic place so that every people that come to the place can see it. Landmark’s role as an instrument of promotion appears when it is publicized, be it intentionally or unintentionally. If a place is known widely by people because of its landmark, then the landmark is technically has a role as an instrument of promotion.
