The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the psychological first aid kno... more The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the psychological first aid knowledge levels and psychological first aid practice self-efficacy of psychologist candidates and whether these variables differ according to gender. The study was carried out with 55 students studying in the Psychology Undergraduate Program. 42 of the participants were female and 13 were male; their average age was 21.53. The research hypotheses were tested by evaluating the mean scores of the participants on the Psychological First Aid Self-Efficacy Scale and the Psychological First Aid Achievement Test. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there was no statistically significant relationship between the psychological first aid knowledge levels and psychological first aid practice self-efficacy of the psychologist candidates (r=-.195, p<.05). Another finding obtained from the study is that while the psychological first aid practice self-efficacy of psychologist candidates does not differ according to gender (t(53)=-.534, p<.05), their psychological first aid knowledge levels differ according to gender (t(53)=3.012, p<.05). Psychological first aid knowledge levels of female participants (x̄=8.67) were higher than male participants (x̄=6.69). As a result, it has been tried to reveal how mental health professional candidates evaluate themselves about Psychological First Aid, which is one of the first steps of crisis intervention in the face of both individual and social traumas.

The inventory includes five subscales which are called; Approaching problems in a negative way, Constructive problem solving, Lack of self-confidence, Unwilling to take responsibility, and Insistent-persevering approach. The scale consists of 50 items constructed in a form of 5-point scale. The sample includes 610 adults, 324 females and 286 males, and aged between 30 to73. Problem Solving Inventory (PSI) which is administered to 99 participants and Trait Anxiety Scale (TAS), which were administered to 93 participants, were used to obtain the similar and different construct validity of Interpersonal Problem Solving Inventory. Humor Styles Questionnaire, Coping Humor Scale, Life Events Scale, Daily Hassles Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, Trait Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory were administered to 409 (199 females, 210 male) college students. Results indicated that the Affiliative Humor, Self-Enhancing Humor (subscales of HSQ which assesses the healthy styles of humor) and Coping Humor were negatively correlated with perceived stress, anxiety and depression. No significant relationship was found between Aggressive humor and negative affect however Self-Defeating humor was weakly but positively correlated with negative affect. The Endicott Work Productivity Scale (EWPS) is a brief self-report questionnaire designed to enab... more The Endicott Work Productivity Scale (EWPS) is a brief self-report questionnaire designed to enable investigators to obtain a sensitive measure of work productivity. The purpose of the study was to investigate reliability and validity of the Turkish form of EWPS. The study was performed with two separate groups; a patient group (n=74) and a community sample (n=107). Through the adaptation process the original form was translated into Turkish, and translated back into English. Statistical tests about construct validity, the concurrent validity, the test re-test reliability and internal consistency were performed. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) was >.90 for both groups. The correlations of the individual items with the EWPS total scores ranged between.32 and.75.
