Methods: A total of 106 patients with ED and without a history of coronary artery disease (CAD) were compared with 54 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. LV systolic function was evaluated using speckle tracking echocardiography via global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global circumferential strain (GCS). The patients with ED were compared with healthy controls. The study group was further subdivided into fQRS (+) and fQRS (-) groups and compared with each other. Results: The frequency of fQRS was significantly higher in the patients with ED (p = 0.01). The frequency of fQRS was higher in the patients with mild and moderate ED, and significantly higher in those with severe ED (p < 0.001). LV-GLS (%) was 17.46 ± 1.37 and 20.05 ± 1.42 in the fQRS (+) and fQRS (-) groups, respectively (p ≤ 0.001). LV-GCS (%) was 17.33 ± 0.81 and 18.55 ± 0.92 in the fQRS (+) and fQRS (-) groups, respectively (p ≤ 0.001). fQRS and age were independent predictors of LV-GLS. Conclusions: The frequency of fQRS was higher in the patients with ED even in the absence of overt CAD. In the patients with ED, the fQRS (+) group had significantly lower values of LV-GLS and LV-GCS. These results indicate that presence of fQRS is associated with subclinical LV dysfunction in patients with ED.

This study aims to provide evidence for the inflammatory process in patients with OAB whose etiology has not been fully elucidated. Material and Methods: The study included 154 people with OAB diagnosis and 131 people as controls. This study was conducted retrospectively, cross-sectionally between April 2015 and April 2020. The data were recorded at the first meeting by an expert on this subject. Groups were compared in terms of CRP and ESR measured in serum. Statistical analysis used the chi-square test, independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses. P<0.05 was accepted as statistical significance. Results: There were no differences between the groups in terms of comorbid diseases. There were significant differences identified in terms of age and BMI between the groups (p<0.005). When groups are compared according to CRP levels, values were 0.28 [0.54] for the OAB group and 0.17 [0.22] mg/dl for the control group (p=0.047). The distribution according to ESR in the groups was 19 [30.5] and 12.5 [13] mm/h, respectively (p=0.004). Conclusion: This study provides new evidence to the literature showing the relationship between OAB and an inflammatory process. It was determined that CRP and ESR levels were increased in patients with OAB compared to the control group. These results show us that there is an inflammatory process at the onset of this disease. Our study aims to investigate the nephroprotective effect of dexmedetomidine in an experimental model of nephrotoxicity in rats. METHODS: The control group was administered saline (SF) intraperitoneally twice a day. The colistin group received an intraperitoneal (ip) injection of 10 mg/kg of colistin twice a day. The DX10 group received 10 mg/ kg of colistin 20 minutes after the intraperitoneal injection of 10 mcg/kg of dexmedetomidine. The DX20 group received 10 mg/kg of colistin 20 minutes after the intraperitoneal injection of 20 mcg/kg of dexmedetomidine. Applications were continued for 7 days, twice a day. All rats were sacrifi ced on the 8th day after blood and kidney tissue samples were taken. BUN, Creatine, KIM-1 and Endothelin-1 were studied in blood samples. RESULTS: There was a signifi cant difference in the median values of Urea, BUN and Creatine between the groups (p<0.001, p< 0.001, p < 0.001, respectively). There was a signifi cant difference in the median values of KIM-1 and Endothelin-1 between the groups (p = 0.009, p = 0.001, respectively). A signifi cant difference was observed between the histopathological scores of the groups (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Dexmedetomidine signifi cantly decreased the elevated levels of BUN, Creatinine, KIM-1, and Endothelin-1 induced by colistin. Dexmedetomidine, at both doses, histopathologically prevented apoptosis and reduced the number of necrotic cells in the kidneys. Dexmedetomidine provides renoprotective effects, therefore it is a valuable sedation agent for clinicians working in intensive care units (Tab. 2, Fig. 4, Ref. 19).

Moreover, over-expression of tr-KIT, a stronger activator than c-KIT, appears to be specific to prostate cancer (PCa). Also, Imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, blocks the activity of full-length c-KIT but has no effect on tr-KIT in PCa. Tr-KIT has its own nuclear factor binding site. However, the transcription factors (TFs) binding to this region specific to tr-KIT are not known yet. This study was conducted to define the most potential TFs specific for tr-KIT via in silico analysis. Methods: Tr-KIT potential TF binding sequence was uploaded into Tfsitescan database. Five TFs with the highest potential binding to this sequence were selected. Transcriptomic data of LNCaP (PCa expressing tr-KIT), PC3 (PCa not expressing tr-KIT) and RWPE-1 (normal prostate) cell lines (GSM1647378, GSE36022 and GSM738189, respectively) from ...

Method: This study was conducted as a retrospective, cross-sectional study between April 2014 and July 2022. Two hundred seventy patients who applied to our clinic for various reasons and were diagnosed with PCa were included in the study. Characteristics of the patients, such as age at diagnosis, comorbidities, age at first PSA examination, and PSA values, were recorded. Results: The mean age of the patients at the time of cancer diagnosis was 67.42±8.64 (43-91) years. PSA value (median±IQR) at the diagnosis was 9.58±19.43 (1.83-3437) ng/ml. When the distribution of cancer according to different decades of life was examined, there were 5 (%1.8) patients in the 40-50 age range, 44 (16.1%) in the 50-60 age range, 111 (40.7%) in the 60-70 age range, 86 (31.5%) in the 70-80 age range, and 24 (8.8%) after the age of 80....
