The taxonomic investigations of the collected specimens revealed presence of 66 species within 39 genera in 5 subfamilies (Desmobathrinae, Geometrinae, Ennominae, Larentiinae, Sterrhinae) in the study area. Gnophos chorista Wehrli, 1939, is reported as a new record for the Turkish fauna and photographs of the species are given for the first time. Charissa adjectaria Staudinger, 1898, Eupithecia dearmata Dietze, 1904, E. reisserata Pinker, 1976 and Gnophos sacraria Staudinger, 1895, which are rarely distributed in Turkey, are recorded in the study area. Specimens from south-eastern Turkey are described here as Perigune jordanaria anatolica subsp. n. and the differences between this taxon and the nominotypical populations are given. Within the mitochondrial COI barcode sequences, the genetic distance between nominate subspecies and the new subspecies is not BIN-sharing with the nominotypical subspecies and diverging from the latter by 2.5%.

Details of recent field observations of P. glauconome are provided and we discuss and illustrate early stages found on Reseda aucheri, a possible new host-plant. The route by which P. glauconomemay have entered the country along the Tigris River from Syria is proposed. Larvae were found to have been attacked by a hymenopteran parasitoid species of the genus Hyposoter; the 'mummified' larval skin and the adult parasitoid are illustrated.

Field based investigations were prominently carried out from sunset till sunrise due to the fact that the dominance of Noctuoidea species are regarded as nocturnal. Insect nets and UV light traps took over efficient roles in capturing noctuoid moths. The cycle of collecting those samples comprised of softening, stretching, and identifying consecutively in accordance with the current literature. The results of the research indicated that there are 160 noctuoid moth species in the study area, 110 of which are newly recorded from Batman. The second report of Haemerosia vassilininei A. Bang-Haas, 1912 and endemic Dryobotodes glaucus Ronkay & Gyulai, 2006 in Turkey, are highlighted.
