Bu araştırmanın amacı, kelebeklerin renk ve desenlerinin insanlardaki estetik ve renk tercihleri ... more Bu araştırmanın amacı, kelebeklerin renk ve desenlerinin insanlardaki estetik ve renk tercihleri üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmaktır. Bununla birlikte, kelebeklerin insanlar üzerinde oluşturduğu etkiler ve hissettirdikleri de çalışma hedefleri kapsamındadır. Bu doğrultuda, farklı renk tonları, şekiller ve kompozisyonlara sahip özgün 10 kelebek fotoğrafı seçilerek araştırma yürütülmüştür. Nitel araştırma yöntemleriyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmış ve toplamda 22 katılımcıyla görüşülmüştür. Katılımcılara, kelebek fotoğraflarından hangi türü seçtikleri ve bu tercihi neye göre yaptıkları sorulmuştur. Kelebek tercihleri, renk seçimleri, hissettirdikleri ve kelebek renkleriyle ilgili diğer konular olarak dört kategori belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, katılımcılar tarafından en çok beğenilen kelebek türü Dicle Güzeli olmuştur. Mavi ve şeffaf renkler en çok, kahverengi ve sarı tonları ise daha az tercih edilen renkler arasındır. Ayrıca, renk zıtlığı; ahengi ve hissettirdikleri de dikkat çeken etkenler olmuştur. Kelebeklerin katılımcılara hissettirdikleri kategorisinde en çok tercih edilenler neşe, estetik, canlılık ve ahenk gibi konforlu hislerdir. Kelebek renk seçimine etki eden diğer etmenler incelendiğinde katılımcıların çoğunlukla kanat desenleri ve şekil-zemin ilişkisine göre kelebekleri değerlendirdikleri görülmüştür. Renklerin insanlarda yarattığı etkinin anlaşılması, turizm sektöründe renklerin kullanılması bakımından yararlı fikirler sunulabilir.

The distribution area of all Laristania species and assessment on the morphology of some species are presented. Habitus, male and female genitalia of the new species are illustrated. The male genitalia of all species in the genus are compared. Besides, photos of adult, male and female genitalia of L. taftanella (Amsel, 1954), and adult and male genitalia of L. aspergella (Ragonot, 1887) are provided.

This study was conducted on the Geometridae fauna of Hasankeyf district of Batman between 2018 an... more This study was conducted on the Geometridae fauna of Hasankeyf district of Batman between 2018 and 2020. 27 different localities were visited and 2.870 specimens in total were collected using insect net and UV light traps mostly in nighttimes, since the majority of Geometridae species are nocturnal. The taxonomic investigations of the collected specimens revealed presence of 66 species within 39 genera in 5 subfamilies (Desmobathrinae, Geometrinae, Ennominae, Larentiinae, Sterrhinae) in the study area. Gnophos chorista Wehrli, 1939, is reported as a new record for the Turkish fauna and photographs of the species are given for the first time. Charissa adjectaria Staudinger, 1898, Eupithecia dearmata Dietze, 1904, E. reisserata Pinker, 1976 and Gnophos sacraria Staudinger, 1895, which are rarely distributed in Turkey, are recorded in the study area. Özet: Batman ili Hasankeyf ilçesi Geometridae faunası üzerine yapılan bu çalışma, 2018-2020 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. 27 farklı lokasyonda çalışılmış ve Geometridae türlerinin çoğunluğu noktürnal olduğundan daha çok gece saatlerinde atrap ve UV ışık tuzakları kullanılarak toplam 2.870 örnek toplanmıştır. Toplanan örneklerin taksonomik incelemeleri ile 5 altfamilya (Desmobathrinae, Geometrinae, Ennominae, Larentiinae, Sterrhinae) ve 39 cins içerisinde 66 tür belirlenmiştir. Specimens from south-eastern Turkey are described here as Perigune jordanaria anatolica subsp. n. and the differences between this taxon and the nominotypical populations are given. Within the mitochondrial COI barcode sequences, the genetic distance between nominate subspecies and the new subspecies is not BIN-sharing with the nominotypical subspecies and diverging from the latter by 2.5%.

We report on the apparently successful overwintering in Batman and Siirt Provinces, Turkey of Pon... more We report on the apparently successful overwintering in Batman and Siirt Provinces, Turkey of Pontia glauconome, a pierid recorded in south-eastern Turkey for the first time in autumn 2016. Details of recent field observations of P. glauconome are provided and we discuss and illustrate early stages found on Reseda aucheri, a possible new host-plant. The route by which P. glauconomemay have entered the country along the Tigris River from Syria is proposed. Larvae were found to have been attacked by a hymenopteran parasitoid species of the genus Hyposoter; the 'mummified' larval skin and the adult parasitoid are illustrated.

The present study conducted on the Noctuoidea (Lepidoptera) fauna takes place in Hasankeyf, Batma... more The present study conducted on the Noctuoidea (Lepidoptera) fauna takes place in Hasankeyf, Batman prov., southeastern Turkey, between 2018-2020. Field based investigations were prominently carried out from sunset till sunrise due to the fact that the dominance of Noctuoidea species are regarded as nocturnal. Insect nets and UV light traps took over efficient roles in capturing noctuoid moths. The cycle of collecting those samples comprised of softening, stretching, and identifying consecutively in accordance with the current literature. The results of the research indicated that there are 160 noctuoid moth species in the study area, 110 of which are newly recorded from Batman. The second report of Haemerosia vassilininei A. Bang-Haas, 1912 and endemic Dryobotodes glaucus Ronkay & Gyulai, 2006 in Turkey, are highlighted.

The studies are conducted at night with light traps and insect nets during the day. Samples are firstly identified by using their external morphological characteristics and genital structures of taxa are examined when necessary. As a result of the researches, 135 species from Pyraloidea superfamily and 70 species from Geometridae family are determined. Among these taxa, 65 species of Pyraloidea and 41 species of Geometridae are newly discovered in Lepidoptera fauna of Iğdır province. The number of pyraloid species in Iğdır province increased to 217 and the number of geometrid species increased to 118. We redescribe the rare geometrid moth Perigune jordanaria (Staudinger, 1901) which was originally... more We redescribe the rare geometrid moth Perigune jordanaria (Staudinger, 1901) which was originally discovered in the Jordan Valley (Israel, Palestine). Specimens from south-eastern Turkey are described here as Perigune jordanaria anatolica subsp. n. and the differences between this taxon and the nominotypical populations are given. Within the mitochondrial COI barcode sequences, the genetic distance between nominate subspecies and the new subspecies is not BIN-sharing with the nominotypical subspecies and diverging from the latter by 2.5%.

We report on the apparently successful overwintering in Batman and Siirt Provinces, Turkey of Pon... more We report on the apparently successful overwintering in Batman and Siirt Provinces, Turkey of Pontia glauconome, a pierid recorded in south-eastern Turkey for the first time in autumn 2016. Details of recent field observations of P. glauconome are provided and we discuss and illustrate early stages found on Reseda aucheri, a possible new host-plant. The route by which P. glauconomemay have entered the country along the Tigris River from Syria is proposed. Larvae were found to have been attacked by a hymenopteran parasitoid species of the genus Hyposoter; the 'mummified' larval skin and the adult parasitoid are illustrated.

The present study conducted on the Noctuoidea (Lepidoptera) fauna takes place in Hasankeyf, Batma... more The present study conducted on the Noctuoidea (Lepidoptera) fauna takes place in Hasankeyf, Batman prov., southeastern Turkey, between 2018-2020. Field based investigations were prominently carried out from sunset till sunrise due to the fact that the dominance of Noctuoidea species are regarded as nocturnal. Insect nets and UV light traps took over efficient roles in capturing noctuoid moths. The cycle of collecting those samples comprised of softening, stretching, and identifying consecutively in accordance with the current literature. The results of the research indicated that there are 160 noctuoid moth species in the study area, 110 of which are newly recorded from Batman. The second report of Haemerosia vassilininei A. Bang-Haas, 1912 and endemic Dryobotodes glaucus Ronkay & Gyulai, 2006 in Turkey, are highlighted.

The studies are conducted at night with light traps and insect nets during the day. Samples are firstly identified by using their external morphological characteristics and genital structures of taxa are examined when necessary. As a result of the researches, 135 species from Pyraloidea superfamily and 70 species from Geometridae family are determined. Among these taxa, 65 species of Pyraloidea and 41 species of Geometridae are newly discovered in Lepidoptera fauna of Iğdır province. The number of pyraloid species in Iğdır province increased to 217 and the number of geometrid species increased to 118. Eye large, globular, dark grey. Labial palp brown, short, upturned, third segment very short, pointed. Proboscis long, light brown. Head scales pale off white to light brown. <i>Thorax</i> — Ground colour similar to head, tegulae slender, metathorax somewhat more greyish. Legs gracile, brown, tibiae with longer milky white hair-scales, tarsi brown. Forewing: Ground colour and fringe light brown; basal and postmedial areas broad, white or brownish off-white; all lines wavy, terminal line beige to dark brown; orbicular stigma minute, rounded, dark brown with paler centre, reniform stigma fine, blackish, streak-like with fine white definition. Hindwing uniform beige, fringe brownish beige, terminal line narrow, black; discal spot, median line, and subterminal line dark, indistinct.
