With the modern world being benign to the environment, alternative energy sources must be needed. The search for alternative energy sources has become necessary due to the rapid depletion of fossil fuel resources. A long-term promising energy source to meet the ever-increasing energy demand of mankind is solar energy (PV). The source is practically unlimited, the conversion process is pollution-free, and the technology has been firmly resolved. The use of solar energy in every sectors of our modern life will be an interesting option to power the modern world world which is renewable and abundant globally. Looking at other common energy sources, such as wind power and hydroelectricity, are also forms of solar energy conversion, sometimes referred to as indirect solar energy. Since the solar energy reaching the earth’s surface is highly variable and intermittent, storing this energy becomes vital in order to get the most benefits from the sun. Not only is the extensive consumption of fossil fuel depleting it is having major effect on the Earth’s climate. Climate change has been a major topic in recent years. As the planets temperature rises (Global Warming) more than it normally would, the climate varies. The global surfaces temperate has increased nearly 2℃ since the beginning of the twentieth century. These changes have already already affected human life directly by changing the environment they are exposed to. Impacting resources like water, wind and key sectors of the economy such as agriculture and tourism. Climate change affects our daily life in many ways no matter where we live in the world. This paper discusses the usage of solar energy and it long-term affects on our daily lives. While also discussing climate change and the current position of Turkey, giving insight on the countries future plans to a zero-net future. Text is provided in Turkish.

Therefore there is a strong need for understanding the active processes of making cultural heritage. To ensure a sustainable development of society, based on democratic values, there is a need of constant reflection on what we choose to preserve from the past.
This paper focuses on the preservation and development of the built heritage in the district of Galata. Discusses the impact of the urban development from the past to present. And proposes design guidelines in order to prevent further loss of urban fabric in the future.

While some argue that replacing certain buildings with commercial ones is a better approach, since they can generate money and thus benefit to a country’s economy. Others however, claim that these heritage sites should be preserved, as they are part of a country’s cultural identity. But how important is it to maintain old buildings? And should history prevent artistic progress?

These elements of disempowerment help give birth to problematic areas, parallel societies and even ghettoes. This stigmatization and hier-archisation of neighbourhoods has an impact on people's perception of these areas. Considering stigmatisation as a process ingrained into power relations, difference and context, this paper focuses on how social stigma and gentrification has its long lasting effect on the city of Athens, with specific focus on the area of Metaxourgio.
