Background: The purpose of applying bacterial consortium and rice husk charcoal to corn plants is... more Background: The purpose of applying bacterial consortium and rice husk charcoal to corn plants is to determine the effect of the combination and whether it can control the intensity of downy mildew attacks and increase corn plant growth. Methods: This research was conducted at the experimental farm of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research was conducted using two factors: the dose of rice husk charcoal application and the application of bacterial consortium with three replications using a randomized block design. The treatments were Charcoal husk (H): H5 = Charcoal husk @5 tons/ha, H10= Charcoal husk @10 tons, H15 Charcoal husk @15 tons/ha, Bacterial consortium (W): W0= without bacteria, WL = bacterial consortium 10 cc/l via foliar spraying, WS = bacterial consortium 10 cc/l through soil, WLS = bacterial consortium 10cc/l through soil and foliar spraying Result: The results showed that the intensity of downy mildew attack on the combined application of the bacterial consortium and rice husk charcoal was lower than that of the no-combination treatment. The length and diameter of the plants that were treated with rice husk charcoal had a significant effect. Still, the application of the bacterial consortium had no effectand the number of leaves was not affected by the treatment.

Usaha untuk meningkatkan produksi bibit kentang yang berkualitas dapat dilakukan melalui multiplikasi tunas dan produksi umbi mikro (mikrotuber) yang dilakukan secara invitro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh kultivar kentang dan komposisi media terhadap multiplikasi tunas tanaman kentang (Solanum tuberosum L.) secara in vitro. Penelitian ini menggunakan percobaan sederhana yang disusun dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAK) sederhana yang terdiri dari perlakuan M1 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Biru (32,10,10) + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l; M2 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Hijau (20,20,20) + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l; M3 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Orange (6,30,30) + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l; M4 = Media Murashige Skoog (MS) + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l ; M5 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Biru (32,10,10) + ZPT BA 0.5 ppm/l; M6 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Hijau (20,20,20) + ZPT BA 0.5 ppm/l; M7 = Pupuk Daun Growmore Orange (6,30,30) + ZPT BA 0.5 ppm/l; M8 = Media Murashige Skoog (MS) + ZPT BA0.5 ppm/l. Kemudian perlakuan tersebut dikombinasikan dengan kultivar Granola Lembang dan Kultivar Desire Merah, masing kultivar menjadi 8 kombinasi perlakuan dan di ulang sebanyak 4 kali dengan sampel tanaman masing-masing perlakuan sebanyak 3 sampel, Variabel yang diamati ; hari saat muncul tunas, saat muncul akar, jumlah nodus, jumlah daun, ketegaran planlet, Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Terjadi Interaksi antara Kultivar dan media pada pertumbuhan saat muncul tunas, jumlah buku dan jumlah daun, adapun kombinasi yang lebih baik adalah Kultivar Granola lembang dan Kultivar dengan Media MS + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l maupun dengan Media MS + ZPT BA 0,5 ppm/l. Media MS + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l berpengaruh terhadap persentase pembentukan kalus pada planlet. Potensi Persentase scoring ketegaran planlet tertinggi didapat pada kultivar Desire Merah.

Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) have become an important subject of research to increase m... more Plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) have become an important subject of research to increase maize production. The PGPB consortium should provide more benefits than single or dual inoculation. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a PGPB consortium on improving maize growth and yield. The field experiment used a split-plot design. The main plot consisted of three maize varieties (Talenta, Pertiwi-3, and Bisma), and the subplot consisted of three formulations of PGPB consortia [endophytic bacteria isolates, Acetobacter sp., cellulolytic, and ligninolytic (F1); endophytic bacteria isolates, Azospirillum sp., cellulolytic, and ligninolytic (F2); and endophytic bacteria isolates, cellulolytic, ligninolytic, Acetobacter sp., and Azospirillum sp. (F3)] and one control. PGPB consortia formulation did not influence maize growth significantly, but maize varieties did. Pertiwi-3 showed the highest value in all growth variables, followed by Bisma and Talenta, respectively. The effect of PGPB consortia formulation upon ear fresh and dry weight depends upon the maize variety, and Pertiwi-3 showed the highest value in yield variables. PGPB consortia formulation 2 was the most effective to apply for Pertiwi-3 cultivation, while PGPB consortia formulation 3 produced higher yields for Talenta and Bisma. These findings indicated that specific PGPB formula could improve the yield for specific maize varieties.

This study aimed to determine the potential of Rhizophora mucronata, Maclura cochinchinensis, and... more This study aimed to determine the potential of Rhizophora mucronata, Maclura cochinchinensis, and Ceriops tagal extracts as a dye for ecoprinting leather. The parameters evaluated were color values (L * , a * , and b *), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, and ecoprinting leather color fastness. The results showed that R. mucronata extract produced a brownish-red color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 17.53, 36.27, and 30.19, respectively. M. cochinchinensis extract produced a brownish-yellow color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 34.59, 31.87, and 58.61, while C. tagal extract produced a reddish-brown color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 32.36, 36.80, and 34.06. The results of FTIR analysis of the three mangrove extracts identified several functional groups such as O-H stretch, C=O stretch, C=C aromatic, CO -C stretch, and C-N stretch. The color fastness of wet rubbing showed that R. mucronata and C. tagal extracts have a value of 4, indicating a good category. In contrast, M. cochinchinensis extract has a value of 5, with an excellent category. It showed that the extracts of R. mucronata, M. cochinchinensis, and C. tagal could be used for leather coloring with the ecoprinting method.

The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the good concentration of PGPR for the ... more The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the good concentration of PGPR for the growth and yield of reciprocal crosses of purple waxy corn and sweet corn (Zea mays L.), the effect of PGPR on the character of a reciprocal cross between purple waxy corn and sweet corn (Zea mays L.) and the effect of reciprocal crosses of purple waxy corn with sweet corn (Zea mays L.) on the character of maize yield. The research was conducted in Tegalgondo Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. The study was arranged in a Split-Plot Design consisting of 4 main plots (PGPR Concentration) V0 (Without PGPR), V15 (15 ml PGPR / l water), V30 (30 ml PGPR / l water), V45 (45 ml of PGPR/ l of water) and consisted of 4 subplots (crosses) PW (Purple Waxy Maize), PWSC (Purple Waxy Corn♂ x Sweet Corn♀), SC (Sweet Corn) and SCPW (Sweet Corn♂ x Purple Pulut Corn).). The data obtained were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level. If there is a significant effect between treatments, it is continued with a comparison test with a 5% LSD test using Costad software and Microsoft Excel. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is an interaction between the administration of PGPR and the reciprocal cross of purple waxy corn x sweet corn on the observation of sugar content characters. PGPR treatment with PGPR concentration of 45 ml/l water (V45) can increase growth and yield characteristics. The results of the reciprocal crosses (PWSC) of Purple Waxy Maize x Sweet Corn and (SCPW) Sweet Corn x Purple Waxy Maize showed that the female parents were more dominant than the male parents.

This study evaluated the color fastness and crust quality of eco-printed leather using various ty... more This study evaluated the color fastness and crust quality of eco-printed leather using various types of mordant in the natural dye of mangrove extract. This study used 20 sheepskin crusts and mangrove bark extract. This experimental study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with different mordant types as the treatments. The types of mordant used were Aluminum Sulfate (Al 2 (SO 4) 3), Calcium Carbonate (CaCO 3), Citric Acid (C 6 H 8 O 7), and Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4). The results showed that the use of Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant gave a darker color and produced better color fastness on eco-printed leather to dry and wet rubbing with a value of 5 (very good), to washing with a value of 4-5 (good), and to sweat with a value of 5 (very good). The use of Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant improved the tensile strength (p= 0.078), decreased the elongation (p= 0.008), increased the elasticity (p= 0.000), and increased the cracking resistance (p= 0.013) of the ecoprinted leather as well as produced more stable stitch-tear strength of the eco-printed leather. It is concluded that using Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant gives a brownish yellow color, increases color fastness to wet rubbing, dry rubbing, washing, sweating, improves crust qualities especially tensile strength and cracking resistance, and decreases the elongation of eco-printed leather.

The aim of this study is to know the effect of root-up size and concentration on root potato grow... more The aim of this study is to know the effect of root-up size and concentration on root potato growth on the number of different leaf stem leaves. This research was conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design at 3 factors and 3 replicates. The first factor was the Root-up Types [RT], consisting of RA, RB, RC, and Rotten-F (as a comparison); the second factor was Root Up Concentration [RC] consisting of C5%, C10%, C15%, C20%, and C25%); and the third factor was the Number of Leaf on the Cuttings [NL] consisting of NL-1, NL-2, and NL-3. The contrasting orthogonal test shows Root-Up vs Control treatment was highly significant in all observed variables, except in stem diameter was increased. Based on data analysis, the Root-up vs Control treatment had a very real effect on all variables, except in stem diameter increase. In Root-up treatment: RT-RC-NL, there were no significant interaction in all observed variables. In RT-RC, there were an interaction between shoot height increase, number of leaves, and root length. RTC with concentrations of 10-25% showed higher growth, better leaf count and root length. In RT-NL, interaction occurs on number of leaves, RTC with the number of leaves 1, 2, and 3 on the shoot cuttings showed a better number of leave. RC-NL occurred in the interaction of the increase in shoot height and number of leaves. RC of 20% with NL 1, 2, and 3 on shoot cuttings show highest increase and highest leaf number. Based on this study, the use of Root-up C with 10-20% concentration could be used as a reference for shoot cuttings multiplication.

Kemudian perlakuan tersebut dikombinasikan dengan kultivar Granola Lembang dan Kultivar Desire Merah, masing kultivar menjadi 8 kombinasi perlakuan dan di ulang sebanyak 4 kali dengan sampel tanaman masing-masing perlakuan sebanyak 3 sampel, Variabel yang diamati ; hari saat muncul tunas, saat muncul akar, jumlah nodus, jumlah daun, ketegaran planlet, Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Terjadi Interaksi antara Kultivar dan media pada pertumbuhan saat muncul tunas, jumlah buku dan jumlah daun, adapun kombinasi yang lebih baik adalah Kultivar Granola lembang dan Kultivar dengan Media MS + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l maupun dengan Media MS + ZPT BA 0,5 ppm/l. Media MS + ZPT BAP 1 ppm/l berpengaruh terhadap persentase pembentukan kalus pada planlet. Potensi Persentase scoring ketegaran planlet tertinggi didapat pada kultivar Desire Merah.

The PGPB consortium should provide more benefits than single or dual inoculation. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a PGPB consortium on improving maize growth and yield. The field experiment used a split-plot design. The main plot consisted of three maize varieties (Talenta, Pertiwi-3, and Bisma), and the subplot consisted of three formulations of PGPB consortia [endophytic bacteria isolates, Acetobacter sp., cellulolytic, and ligninolytic (F1); endophytic bacteria isolates, Azospirillum sp., cellulolytic, and ligninolytic (F2); and endophytic bacteria isolates, cellulolytic, ligninolytic, Acetobacter sp., and Azospirillum sp. (F3)] and one control. PGPB consortia formulation did not influence maize growth significantly, but maize varieties did. Pertiwi-3 showed the highest value in all growth variables, followed by Bisma and Talenta, respectively. The effect of PGPB consortia formulation upon ear fresh and dry weight depends upon the maize variety, and Pertiwi-3 showed the highest value in yield variables. PGPB consortia formulation 2 was the most effective to apply for Pertiwi-3 cultivation, while PGPB consortia formulation 3 produced higher yields for Talenta and Bisma. These findings indicated that specific PGPB formula could improve the yield for specific maize varieties.

This study aimed to determine the potential of Rhizophora mucronata, Maclura cochinchinensis, and... more This study aimed to determine the potential of Rhizophora mucronata, Maclura cochinchinensis, and Ceriops tagal extracts as a dye for ecoprinting leather. The parameters evaluated were color values (L * , a * , and b *), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, and ecoprinting leather color fastness. The results showed that R. mucronata extract produced a brownish-red color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 17.53, 36.27, and 30.19, respectively. M. cochinchinensis extract produced a brownish-yellow color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 34.59, 31.87, and 58.61, while C. tagal extract produced a reddish-brown color with the L * , a * , and b * values of 32.36, 36.80, and 34.06. The results of FTIR analysis of the three mangrove extracts identified several functional groups such as O-H stretch, C=O stretch, C=C aromatic, CO -C stretch, and C-N stretch. The color fastness of wet rubbing showed that R. mucronata and C. tagal extracts have a value of 4, indicating a good category. In contrast, M. cochinchinensis extract has a value of 5, with an excellent category. It showed that the extracts of R. mucronata, M. cochinchinensis, and C. tagal could be used for leather coloring with the ecoprinting method.

The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the good concentration of PGPR for the ... more The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the good concentration of PGPR for the growth and yield of reciprocal crosses of purple waxy corn and sweet corn (Zea mays L.), the effect of PGPR on the character of a reciprocal cross between purple waxy corn and sweet corn (Zea mays L.) and the effect of reciprocal crosses of purple waxy corn with sweet corn (Zea mays L.) on the character of maize yield. The research was conducted in Tegalgondo Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. The study was arranged in a Split-Plot Design consisting of 4 main plots (PGPR Concentration) V0 (Without PGPR), V15 (15 ml PGPR / l water), V30 (30 ml PGPR / l water), V45 (45 ml of PGPR/ l of water) and consisted of 4 subplots (crosses) PW (Purple Waxy Maize), PWSC (Purple Waxy Corn♂ x Sweet Corn♀), SC (Sweet Corn) and SCPW (Sweet Corn♂ x Purple Pulut Corn).). The data obtained were analyzed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level. If there is a significant effect between treatments, it is continued with a comparison test with a 5% LSD test using Costad software and Microsoft Excel. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is an interaction between the administration of PGPR and the reciprocal cross of purple waxy corn x sweet corn on the observation of sugar content characters. PGPR treatment with PGPR concentration of 45 ml/l water (V45) can increase growth and yield characteristics. The results of the reciprocal crosses (PWSC) of Purple Waxy Maize x Sweet Corn and (SCPW) Sweet Corn x Purple Waxy Maize showed that the female parents were more dominant than the male parents.

This study evaluated the color fastness and crust quality of eco-printed leather using various ty... more This study evaluated the color fastness and crust quality of eco-printed leather using various types of mordant in the natural dye of mangrove extract. This study used 20 sheepskin crusts and mangrove bark extract. This experimental study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with different mordant types as the treatments. The types of mordant used were Aluminum Sulfate (Al 2 (SO 4) 3), Calcium Carbonate (CaCO 3), Citric Acid (C 6 H 8 O 7), and Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4). The results showed that the use of Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant gave a darker color and produced better color fastness on eco-printed leather to dry and wet rubbing with a value of 5 (very good), to washing with a value of 4-5 (good), and to sweat with a value of 5 (very good). The use of Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant improved the tensile strength (p= 0.078), decreased the elongation (p= 0.008), increased the elasticity (p= 0.000), and increased the cracking resistance (p= 0.013) of the ecoprinted leather as well as produced more stable stitch-tear strength of the eco-printed leather. It is concluded that using Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO 4) as a mordant gives a brownish yellow color, increases color fastness to wet rubbing, dry rubbing, washing, sweating, improves crust qualities especially tensile strength and cracking resistance, and decreases the elongation of eco-printed leather.

The aim of this study is to know the effect of root-up size and concentration on root potato grow... more The aim of this study is to know the effect of root-up size and concentration on root potato growth on the number of different leaf stem leaves. This research was conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design at 3 factors and 3 replicates. The first factor was the Root-up Types [RT], consisting of RA, RB, RC, and Rotten-F (as a comparison); the second factor was Root Up Concentration [RC] consisting of C5%, C10%, C15%, C20%, and C25%); and the third factor was the Number of Leaf on the Cuttings [NL] consisting of NL-1, NL-2, and NL-3. The contrasting orthogonal test shows Root-Up vs Control treatment was highly significant in all observed variables, except in stem diameter was increased. Based on data analysis, the Root-up vs Control treatment had a very real effect on all variables, except in stem diameter increase. In Root-up treatment: RT-RC-NL, there were no significant interaction in all observed variables. In RT-RC, there were an interaction between shoot height increase, number of leaves, and root length. RTC with concentrations of 10-25% showed higher growth, better leaf count and root length. In RT-NL, interaction occurs on number of leaves, RTC with the number of leaves 1, 2, and 3 on the shoot cuttings showed a better number of leave. RC-NL occurred in the interaction of the increase in shoot height and number of leaves. RC of 20% with NL 1, 2, and 3 on shoot cuttings show highest increase and highest leaf number. Based on this study, the use of Root-up C with 10-20% concentration could be used as a reference for shoot cuttings multiplication.
