Šios vietovės istoriškumo bruožai, jos daugiapakopės ervinės struktūros problematika ir natūralios gamtinės aplinkos fragmentiškumas, ypatingo ne tik Kauno miesto, bet ir Respublikos objekto statusas įpareigoja priimti itin atsakingus sprendimus, kaip toliau vystyti šį sodą. 2012 m.

Despite widespread awareness of the beneficial effects of such spaces, the natural tissue in cities is still being significantly limited by the priority given to functionality and the economy. The aim of this article is to assess the potential of using a hybrid infrastructure in the grey–green–blue system (GGB) on a public site. In order to assess the efficiency of the implemented solutions, a multi-criteria method was developed, thereby recognising this research aspect as necessary in the process of designing urban built-up spaces. The assessment compared indicators of biological activity in the area using the biotope area factor and green space factor scales. The rainwater retention potential was estimated using a quantitative method. The change in the site’s thermal conditions was analysed by conducting numerous experiments with the use of micrometeorogical compu...

As passive methods of space organisation, they are tools for mitigating, alleviating the effects of pollution and improving the comfort of space utilisation. The shaping of such objects is a process which requires taking into consideration numerous factors including the recognition of mechanisms and processes that occur between the barriers and the stream of pollutants, as well as meteorological and geometric conditions of the location. The method of organising vegetative barriers proposed in the present article has allowed for the inclusion of many aspects of the design process. This approach has provided a design procedure regime in a clear layout of individual stages. Based on the conducted implementation, a scenario of interactions of the vegetative barriers with the stream of pollutants was modelled, supplementing the canon of parameterisation of structures and employed qualities, relevant for the effectiveness of the composed plant assemblies in the process of cleaning the urban atmosphere of dust pollution.

The innate qualities of the area’s historical value, multidimensional spatial structure and natural resources, and above all, the importance for the city and for Lithuania in general, make the decisions about the Garden’s further development responsible and difficult. The agreement between Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas and Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, established in 2012, provides a basis for reflection on the subject. On the basis of the considerations made the programme that distinguished a coherent system of dealing with the garden existing values and give direction for new investments. The concept is based on two assumptions: on the one hand, the holistic recognition of qualities and resources of the present KBG, on the other, the introduction of contemporary landscape architecture. Such a combination introduces new aspects that have a chance to save and improve the quality...
