Materials and methods: From June 1992 through September 1995, 11 Dynaflex (American Medical Systems) prostheses were implanted in 9 patients. These patients were followed up for a period of 33 to 72 months, with a mean of 59 months. All patients suffered organic erectile dysfunction. Results: Out of the 11 implants, 7 presented mechanical failures (63.6%). Prostheses worked for 24 to 65 months (mean. 29 months). There were no infectious complications. Patients whose prostheses presented no mechanical failure are satisfied with the implanted prostheses. Conclusions: Given the high ratio of mechanical failures, we do not recommend the use of this type of prostheses. In the event of a prosthesis replacement, we recommend implanting controlled expansion prostheses in order to prevent aneurysmatic dilatations from building in the new cylinders. In the absence of mechanical dysfunctions, patients ar...

Though PCNL comes with higher morbidity, its efficacy is unbeaten by other minimally invasive modalities. However, potential complications, such as bleeding, occur. Improved skills and modifications of the procedure may reduce the probability of adverse outcomes. This article discusses the current trends and standards in PCNL technique with special focus on all important steps as positioning, access, instruments, dilation, disintegration, and exit, including outcomes, complication management, and training modalities.

We conducted a bibliographic search about MUO in Spanish and English languages in PubMed and Google Scholar. We examined the most relevant reviews, original manuscripts and their respective citations. Last search was on April 2016. Polymeric double J stent is the cheapest and most accessible internal urinary diversion, but has also the shortest duration. Early and late failure rates were 0-35% and 14-49% respectively. Mean time to late failure was 3-12 months. Percutaneous nephrostomy is the safest alternative in terms of failure rates, though it has frequent complications such as tube dislodgement, and may have a negative effect on quality of life. The only metallic double J stent with enough bibliographic background is the Resonance® stent. Early failure was 0-15% and late failure 4-41%, with a mean time to late failure of 2.6-13 months.

In particular, reference lines for the renal puncture and correct patient positioning in order to prevent pressure damages are described, as well as sterile draping and preparation of the surgical field. The operating room (OR) is very crowded and therefore it is relevant to define the right place for any operator and device. This aspect may appear time-consuming but is essential in order to optimize the cooperation of all the working team and to avoid both intraoperative problems and postoperative complications.

When taking into consideration the retroperitoneal position of the kidney, its relationship with other organs, and its own particular vascular distribution, the safest access to the urinary tract appears to be through a posterior calyx papilla, and the approach will always be through the lumbar area of the patient. Therefore, traditionally, the patient has been placed in the prone position. Nevertheless, other decubitus positions have been used for patients (supine, Valdivia-Galdakao, and intermediate supine).

MATERIAL AND METHOD Seventy three renal transplants were made between August 1988 and December 1995 in Italian Hospital in Buenos Aires. The mean follow up period was 35 months. The incidence of ureterovesical stenosis and its outcomes in the renal allograft were evaluated. Seven cases of ureterovesical stenosis were found. Clinic diagnosis was made in all cases (decreased filtration, diuresis rythm diminished, pain over the implant) confirmed with ecography that showed hydronefrosis and pielography percutaneous anterograde to check the cause of obstruction. Time elapsed between transplant and diagnosis of stenosis varied from 2 to 23 months. Inicial treatment was percutaneous derivation and then in all cases where renal function was recovered ureterovesical reimplant was made out, but ureterotomy in one of them. RESULTS Incidence of ureterovesical ste...

Methods: Twenty-two patients with posterior urethra stricture solved by perineal approach with a follow up between 12 and 101 months (mean 48.2 months). Forty per cent of the subjects had undergone an accute surgery. Their control was made by endoscopic, urethrography and flowmetry during the first year, after that period it was made only flowmetry and endoscopic. Results: The surgery was successful in 21 patients (95.4%). None of the patients needed another procedures, except for two (9%), who needed an endoscopic urethrotomy 13 and 20 months after the surgery. There was only one failure that underwent 2 nd reconstruction with favorable evolution. The sexual function was lost in one patient and recovered in two others after the surgery. Conclusions: According to our experience the perineal approach and the bulboprostatic anasthomos...
