In this context; the aim of the research is to examine the effect of education thematic films on classroom teacher candidates' motivation to teach and attitudes towards teaching profession. An explanatory design model has been used in the research that one of the mixed method designs. Explanatory design; requires qualitative data for the purpose of supporting, explaining and interpreting quantitative data (Patton, 2002). Research was conducted with 3rd year students; In the spring semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, Mersin University Faculty of Education Classroom Teacher Education Department. The "Motivation to Teach Scale" developed by Kauffman, Yilmaz-Soylu and Duke (2011) and adapted to Turkish by Ayık, Ataş Akdemir, Seçer (2015) and "Attitude Scale for Teaching Profession" developed by Üstüner (2006) were used for data collection tools in this research. As a result of the analysis, it is possible to say that the films watched during the implementation process have positive effects on teacher motivation and attitudes towards the teaching profession. In order to develop the teachers' motivation to teach and their attitudes towards the teaching profession, it is possible to make all students in the faculty watch the education thematic films on certain days and establish a qualified film archive within the faculty for reaching more teacher cadidates. INTRODUCTION In today's world of rapidly improving knowledge and technology, information-generating societies are one step ahead of societies in the world that consume knowledge in order to create both economic development, wealth and prosperity. Therefore, the education of the individuals who will shape the future and produce information and technology gains more importance every day (Yavuz and Coşgun, 2008). Teachers are the first factor in ensuring that individuals get a good education. The fact that the teachers are qualified also ensures the qualified education of the individuals they train. In this respect, our primary goal should be to train qualified teachers. Teachers with such power to influence on the people are expected to have good motivations and attitudes towards this profession as well as cognitive field competences such as knowledge and skills. Because it is very important to make this profession fondly and willingly in order to be successful in the teaching profession, which requires patience, dedication and continuous work (Akşar and Erden, 1987).

Survey model was used in the study in which quantitative and qualitative data were collected, aiming to describe any situation as either are in the past or present. The study group of the research consists of 420 teacher candidates trained in Pedagogical Formation at Mersin University Faculty of Education in 2016-2017 academic year. In the research "Personal Information Form" which aims to reveal the personal characteristics of the teacher candidates developed by the researchers and "Motivations For Teaching Scale" developed by Watt & Richardson (2007) and adapted to Turkish by Eren & Tezel (2010) has been used as a quantitative data collection tool. The open-ended questionnaire developed by the researchers was used as a qualitative data collection tool. The general results of the study show that the teaching profession is preferred because of intrinsic, extrinsic and altruistic motivational reasons. Some situations in which internal causes are more effective, such as the reasonable workload, the duration of a vacation, satisfactory fees; gender is not a significant variable; the variation of age group and department make a difference in the individuals' motivation to teach are the main findings of the research. From this point forth, it can be referred that the reason for choosing the teaching profession is multidimensional. The results of the study reveal that pedagogical formation trainees have similar reasons for career choice as teacher candidates in teacher training institutions. In this sense, it is considered that there is a need to determine the implementations that can be made for the teaching profession choices of pedagogical formation trainees and to examine the effectiveness of these implementations.

To reach this aim concept cartoons involving students' preconceptions and alternative conceptions about the concepts in the unit were developed. The data of the research was collected via the Structure and Properties of Matter's Concept Test (SPMCT) and semi-structured interviews. The sample of the research consisted of 49 grade 7 students in total, 24 students in experimental group and 25 students in control group. SPMCT prepared by considering the alternative conceptions obtained via the outcome of literature analysis was applied as a pre-test. And then, the unit of "the structure and properties of matter" with prepared concept cartoons was studied. At the end of the study, SPMCT was applied to the students as a post-test. At the end of the research, it was ascertained that students had varied alternative conceptions about studied concept, some of them learned the concepts of the structure and properties of matter at a level of knowledge, but were inadequate in applying them. In addition, the students chosen from the experimental group were interviewed with the intent of promoting the test results. As a result of analyzing the test and interview, it was ascertained that the application decreased the alternative conceptions on the structure and properties of the matter existing in students, did not reveal new alternative conceptions and got the students comprehend the subjects better.

Either directly or indirectly, both intramaturally and extramaturally, education is a process of assisting individuals edify and acquire knowledge, skill and understanding essential for having a part in community life. School is an educational organisation in which students are made obtain terminal behaviours, knowledge and skill in accordance with fundamentals and general and special purposes of the education system through scientific methods (Demirtas and Gunes,2003,s.109). Attendance of students must be implemented in order that the school can carry out its functions. Active participation principle is carried out thorugh the implemention of students' attendance. Education oriented motivation level of students attending classes increases when active participation is used as a base. Academic achievement is defined as students' achievement level of the intended behaviours in school life(Silah, 2003, s. 103). Academic achievement in higher education is used as a criterion in determining whether the students obtained the terminal behaviours or not. Besides, higher education is a significant criterion in job and academic career applications later on. In brief, ensuring the students' attendance increases the academic achievements and the increase in students' achievements can insure their getting a good job, having an academic career and leading a comfortable life. It is observed in literature that limited study has been done related to attendance and absenteeism. These studies can be summarized like the followings; Kadı(2000) searched the constant absenteeism reasons of secondary school students in Adana.
