Using image processing algorithms, each one of the tanks is classified within the video sequence as well as each one of the depth measurements is averaged regarding the cross sectional area of the surface of the tanks. This information is used to control the filling level for each tank using a proportional fuzzy controller and a proportional-derivative fuzzy controller. The measured levels by the Kinect were compared to those obtained with an industrial level sensor, concluding that Kinect offers a good measurement precision besides some others inherent advantages like price and multi-sensing.

Colombia introduced massive vaccination with PCV10 in 2012. Methods Pneumococcal pneumonia cases from 10 hospitals part of an active surveillance network for invasive pneumococcal disease were included. Two periods were compared, pre-PCV10: 2008-2012 and post-PCV10: 2014-2019. The objective was to compare characteristics and outcomes before and after PCV10. Results 370 cases were included. Serotype 1(15, 11.2%) and 14 (33, 24.6%) were the most frequent in Pre-PCV10, with only 4(3%) 19A and 1(0.7%) serotype 3. Post-PCV10, serotype 1 decreased to 6(3.1%), 14 to 15(7.8%), while 19A increased to 58(30.2%), serotype 3 to 32(16.7%) and 6A to 7(3.6%) (p = < 0.001), (Graph 1). Complicated pneumonia (CN) also increased (13.4% to 31,8%) (p< 0,001). Pre-PVC10, 44% of CN were due to PCV10 serotypes; with no PCV13 serotypes cases. Post-vaccine period, PCV10 explained only 8.2% and PCV13 60.6%(p < 0.00...

The controller is able to automatically manage the traffic flow in a set of intersections, giving priority to the traffic lights of roads where there are emergency vehicles waiting. The system uses a classification algorithm, which is trained in order to detect any vehicle the scene and an image processing algorithm that identifies emergency vehicles within the previously detected vehicles. Using the information of video sequences acquired with CCD cameras installed on the intersections, the system choose the sequence of actions that improves the traffic flow, so as to increase the mobility in the road where the emergency vehicle is detected. Results show that the system is able to detect vehicles in real time. Also, the system adapts in an efficient and fast way to the changes in traffic flow in order to establish a priorit...

Given that the robot has a vision system, this is capable of increase or decreases its speed when it faces a mobile obstacle or simply changes its movement direction when facing a static obstacle.

The system obtains information from a network of cameras and through machine vision algorithms can detect the number of vehicles in each of the roads. Using this information, the fuzzy system selects the sequence of phases that optimize traffic flow globally. To evaluate the performance of the controller, a scenario was developed where it was possible to simulate through artificially created videos two adjacent intersections. System performance was compared versus fixed time controllers as they are currently the most used in the city of Bogota. As a control variable it was used the average waiting time of each vehicle. The results show that the system performance increases by about 20% over situations with heavy traffic conditions and that the controller is able to adapt smoothly to different flow changes.

In this paper, we describe a practical application, where Augmented Reality glasses are used not only for assembly assistance, but also as a means of communication to enable the orchestration of a hybrid team consisting of a human worker and two mobile robotic systems. The task of the hybrid team is to rivet so-called stringers onto an aircraft hull. While the two robots do the physically demanding, unergonomic and possibly hazardous tasks (squeezing and sealing rivets), the human takes over those responsibilities that need experience, multi-sensory sensitiveness and specialist knowledge. We describe the working scenario, the overall architecture and give design and implementation details on the AR application.
