Thus, there exist many studies focused on analyzing the credibility of the shared information. Most proposals use either Twitter API or web scraping to extract the data to perform such analysis. Both extraction techniques have advantages and disadvantages. In this work, we present a study to evaluate their performance and behavior. The motivation for this research comes from the necessity to know ways to extract online information in order to analyze in real-time the credibility of the content posted on the Web. To do so, we develop a framework which offers both alternatives of data extraction and implements a previously proposed credibility model. Our framework is implemented as a Google Chrome extension able to analyze tweets in real-time. Results report that both methods produce identical credibility values, when a robust normalization process is applied to the text (i.e., tweet). Moreover, concerning the time performance, web scraping is faster than Twitter API, and it is more flexible in terms of obtaining data; however, web scraping is very sensitive to website changes.

Temporary solutions are renal replacement therapies such as peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration. These therapies as they are applied today are just partial measures and have many drawbacks and complications such as high mortality rates and high costs due to the use of supplemental drugs and emergency room visits. Many enhancements to the therapies have been published, but they are not applied consistently in real world practice. Our work presents the results from the systematic application of several techniques to provide individualized therapies that can minimize the drawbacks and improve patient outcomes. This approach is based on the use of exercise, analysis of cardiovascular parameters, such as heart-rate variability, body composition and dry weight measurements through the use of bioimpedance and real-time monitoring of energy expenditure and nutrition intradialytically in order to provide individualized and dynamically variable therapies. Results show that patients can lead long, productive lives while maintaining a quality of life equivalent to that of a renal transplant.

Thus, there is clear evidence of the need of having different options to extract different data for this purpose. Nevertheless, none of these studies perform a comparative evaluation of both extraction techniques. Moreover, the authors extend a previous comparison, which uses a recent developed framework that offers both alternates of data extraction and implements a previously proposed credibility model, by adding a qualitative evaluation and a Twitter-Application Programming Interface (API) performance analysis from different locations. Design/methodology/approach As one of the most popular social platforms, Twitter has been the focus of recent research aimed at analyzing the credibility of the shared information. To do so, several proposals use either Twitter API or Web scraping to extrac...

FRANCE Abstract: This study looks at how combinations of two French nouns (”Incendie Brˆ ulure”/”Fire Burn” ; ”Voiture Tortue”/”Turtle Car”) are interpreted. The order of occurrence of the constituents of two types of conceptual combinations, Relation and Property, was manipulated in view of determining how property-based and relation- based interpretations evolve with age. Three groups of French-speaking children (ages 6, 8, and 10) and a group of adults performed an interpretation-selection task. The results for the children indicated that while property-based interpretations increased with age, relation-based interpretations wer...

Abstract: Techniques for the visualization of highdimensional data are common in exploratory data analysis and can be very useful for gaining an intuition into the structure of a data set. The classical method of principal component analysis is the one most often employed, however in recent years a number of other nonlinear techniques have been introduced. In the present paper, principal component analysis, and two newer methods, are applied to a set of speech data and their results are compared.

They have been used in the areas of text classification and bioinformatics, where notable results have been obtained. In the present paper string kernels are applied to a Spanish digit recognition task and their performance is compared to that of discrete hidden markov models (dhmm). It is found that string kernels produce comparable results and may offer an alternative discriminative approach for certain speech recognition tasks.

We propose a new approach to this problem of growing breadth of the responsibilities of the clinical engineer that is similar to the interconsults that are regularly done in the clinical practice. We present two case studies where the tasks of the clinical engineer overlap some tasks better suited for other experts and present the conclusions that the technological demands that are presently being encountered are better handled by a collaboration between experts in the field where the biomedical or clinical engineer can work as a coordinator and the rest of the experts can provide important insight in order to come up with a better solution to the problems being solved.

The method starts by computing a dense optical flow, providing instantaneous velocity information for every pixel. The obtained flow is then characterized by a per-frameorientation histogram, weighted by the norm, with orientations quantized to 32 principal directions. Finally, a set of global characteristics is determined from the temporal series obtained from each histogram bin, forming a descriptor vector. The method was evaluated using a 192-dimensional descriptor with the classical Weizmann action dataset, obtaining an average accuracy of 95 %. For more complex surveillance scenarios, the method was assessed with the VISOR dataset, achieving a 96.7 % of accuracy in a classification task performed using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier.

The multiplicity of the information to be acquired is plumping. Many students learn the new information in a certain mechanical way without comprehending the actual meaning of it. Therefore it is necessary to look for a solution of the problem by choosing such methodical aids which would stimulate the students to understand the information, as well as to link it with the previously acquired knowledge and experience. The student will be able to use only fully understood information for successful learning of the following themes. A simple possible solution for the mentioned problem is originated by a group of teachers from Riga English Grammar School (Latvia) in 2011. It is an alternative approach to the teaching process of science and mathematics. An equalization of complex science systems with processes or phenomena one can observe in everyday life lies in the foundation of this approach. It becomes possible to connect elementary knowledge about the order of the world with the more complicated science information to be acquired just using associations with daily processes. An association created in the framework of the above mentioned approach is called a perception model or just a model. The model can be formed as a drawing, animation, scheme, etc. The models are usually made by the students, the teacher acting as the organizer and guide of the exercise. The mentioned teaching/learning method has been used for teaching chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics in the Riga English Grammar School during already 3 school years. Several methodical approaches have been tested and improved, and very preliminary assessments of their efficiency have been made during this time. Methodical recommendations for teachers, the assessment criteria for the students' models as well as work sheets for students were originated as the result of these activities. Our experience has confirmed that the origination of the associative images (models) stimulate students for better understanding the essence of ideas, processes and phenomena of science and mathematics. The exploitation of associative images in the teaching/learning process of science and mathematics is discussed in the present communication with an objective to acquaint interested people with the method and to stimulate the dissemination of it in grammar schools. The very first positive results are shown in it about the application of the discussed method in the mastering of science concepts. The communication is trying to answer the question about an easy possibility to stimulate the penetration of students in the essence of a subject to be acquired by the assistance of associative images (models) and the translation of the text of models into a foreign language. The communication can be deemed as a methodological recommendation to teachers. The introduction of the discussed simple method into the everyday practice of grammar schools might allow to achieve the mastering of students' thorough knowledges and skills in a shorter time.

One of the pillars of the fight against this phenomenon is the mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, CO2 in particular. Although many achievements have already been made in CO2 capture and storage technologies, promising methods to convert waste streams concentrated in this gas into valuable products are currently under way. This chapter intends to describe one of them, the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to fuel products, that is, the reaction to produce fuel between the CO2 molecules and a reducing agent (usually water), in the presence of a semiconductor material that provides electrons (e−) and holes (h+) when it is illuminated by light of appropriate energy. Moreover, if solar energy were employed as light source, this type of energy difficult to store could be transformed into liquid or gaseous fuels, useful in conventional power production systems. In this chapter, firstly, a wide review about photocatalysis fundamentals, photocatalysts, synthesis of particles in supercritical fluids, characterization techniques, photocatalytic reactors, etc., is carried out. Subsequently, previous results from the authors’ research on this subject are shown. More specifically, the characteristics of photocatalysts synthesized in a supercritical medium to convert CO2 into fuels are presented and discussed.
