Failure to complete projects on time has become a major problem in the last few decades. Construction delays are a common and serious problem that needs to be investigated further. This issue has implications for the construction industry and the economy’s growth, as well as the long-term development of countries. Many studies have not highlighted the strategies implemented by organisations to lessen the impact of project delays. As such, a systematic literature analysis (SLR) was performed in this study by selecting publications of articles from indexed journals on the Web of Science and Scopus to identify the efficacy of strategies utilised when mitigating problems that postpone the overall construction. The method applied for this SLR is using the Reporting Standards for Systematic Evidence Syntheses (ROSES) analysis protocol. Through this protocol, several steps need to be followed accordingly to acquire an accurate number o...

Blockchain has the potential to resolve some of these problems. It has shown that blockchain and BIM can potentially work together in bringing various benefits to all project stakeholders. However, there is a lack of research and knowledge in relation to blockchain-based BIM. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to close this gap by looking into the potential functionality and workability of blockchain within a BIM environment. Design/methodology/approach A four-stage preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses systematic literature review technique has been used to review the blockchain- and BIM-related information sources published. Meeting the dateline to complete a project will be an added advantage for both the developer and the owner. As project management is a core capability in the construction industry, high-quality project planning processes are necessary for project success. Poor up-front definition and planning is the common cause of project failure which causes serious problems in many areas later in the project and also affecting building performance. Therefore, this paper aims to identify the key risks in planning stage. This paper provides a theoretical framework showing the relationship between eleven key risks in planning stage and four building performance indicators in operation stage which gained through literature study.

BIM could open up a broad range of benefits in the construction industry. However, rate of implementation does not match its benefits. Why BIM has not been fully adopted in construction industry? The underlying problem to the above-mentioned issue were arisen due to the barriers, challenges and risks. These can be a potential factor to jeopardise the successfulness of the construction project by affecting the cost, time and quality. The said factors can be an actual risk which later on bringing construction project to failure. Thus, it crucial to identify the potential risk as a basis for risk assessment and risk response process. Moreover, risk identification relatively important since the risk assessment and risk response process are applied only to the regornised risk factors. The questionnaire was designed, and its validity was confirmed by eight experts. Then, it was sent to 400 experts and 381 completed questionnaires were collected. Using structural equation modeling with Smart PLS software, data extracted from the questionnaire were analyzed. The remarkable results of this study include: The results indicate a positive relationship between the initial activities and the success of the project and considering that the four stakeholder engagement management activities had a positive moderating effect. The initial activities without applying the activities of stakeholder engagement management, 38.4%, and after applying them as a moderator, 40.70%, explain the success of the project. The innovative aspect of this research is that so far not enough attention has been paid to measure the impact of initial project activities on the success of construction projects in Iran and effectiveness of stakeholder engagement management as a moderator in the relationship between them.

However, the skilled labour shortage is one factor that affects the success of projects in the construction industry. Therefore, this paper aims to study the effects of skilled labour shortages on construction project performance. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 42 construction practitioners. The hypotheses were tested by using a Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results indicate that project-related factors and human capital factors affecting skilled labour shortages in construction projects and skilled labour shortages have affected construction projects’ performance. This finding’s implication is useful for construction industry players by better understanding successfully managing construction projects.

Consequently, the development of technics to detoxify the pesticide residues to reduce at least areas and contaminated matrix is needed. In the present work, a comparative study was performed on the chemical oxidation of an organophosphorus compound, the dimethoate (DIM), with sulfate radicals and hydroxyl radicals. Both oxidants are generated in situ, the sulfate radicals were produced by heat-activation of persulfate (PS) and hydroxyl radicals were generated by water electrooxidation using a boron doped diamond anode (BDD). For both cases, the target molecule has disappeared but the selective reaction of sulfate radicals with organics led to the production of intermediates which are less biodegradable than DIM since the ratio between the biological oxygen demand (BOD 5) and the chemical oxygen demand (COD) has been divided by 2 within the first hour of the process. Whereas the BOD 5 /COD ratio during the electrochemical oxidation of DIM via hydroxyl radicals showed that it was possible to render the solution biodegradable without reaching a complete mineralization. However, it has been shown that the presence of chlorides in the solution must be avoided because of the formation of undesired organochlorides during the process.

No or minimal data exist for the prevalence of TRT-induced polycythaemia in lateonset hypogonadism (LOH) patients from South Africa. Polycythaemia is the side effect most frequently associated with parental TRT formulations. Design: This was a quantitative, observational, descriptive, retrospective study. Setting: The study setting was a private practice male clinic in Emalahleni. Subject: An all-inclusive sampling method was used. Outcome measures: The main outcome measure for polycythaemia was haematocrit (Hct). An Hct percentage of > 50% at month 3 (post-treatment initiation) constituted a positive diagnosis for polycythaemia. For the rise in total testosterone (TT) and Hct, the variance was used as documented between pre-and post-treatment initiation. Results: The prevalence of polycythaemia was 34%. A statistically significant increase in both TT and Hct was observed. The Cohen's d effect size was 0.68 and 0.73, respectively, for TT and Hct. Conclusion: Depot-testosterone undecanoate parenteral formulation induces polycythaemia in LOH patients, where the rise in TT demonstrates the effectiveness of therapy.

This research is carried out by interviewing nine respondents which consist of registered Quantity Surveyors. Litigation and arbitration has been widely applied in Malaysia for dispute settlement. Both methods, however, do become more tedious and arduous processes to go through to resolve disputes. Mediation, on the other hand, has been a new alternative for dispute settlement in the Malaysian construction industry. Nevertheless, arbitration and mediation have not yet made a big impact in the numbers of disputes arising in the Malaysian construction industry. Therefore, this paper unveils the viability of implementing Dispute Board as a better and more efficient method of ADR that is determined in the outset of the project. Dispute Board is able to reduce the amount of disputes arising in the Malaysian construction industry.

In construction industry, the adoption and implementation of e-purchasing system offers many benefits such as reducing material cost and enhancing productivity. Although e-purchasing provides a wealth of new opportunities and ways of doing business, the implementation presents a series of challenges particularly in the construction industry. One of the challenges that has been identified was system adoption failure. Studies have reported that between 75-85% of all e-purchasing system failed to achieve the promised results. The high percentage of epurchasing failure reported has led researchers to investigate the reasons particularly in area of critical success factors (CSFs). Unfortunately, little work has been done to investigate the CSFs on e-purchasing implementation, especially in the construction industry. This has contributed to the limited available list of CSFs in the context of organizational aspect. This paper is set out to fill the gap and to provide a framework of organizational CSFs in e-purchasing implementation in construction organization through an exploratory study. Based on the literature review, 26 factors were identified. Interviews were conducted using open-ended questionnaire with 10 experts from different background in the construction industry. Qualitative analyses were used to validate the existence of these factors. The result of the study will provide a framework for the development instrument for future empirical study.
