Sleep disorder is one of the factors which can influence the quality of life. This study has been conducted in order to investigate the relation between quality of life and sleep quality in the Kurdish elderly of Saqqez County. Methods & Materials: This correlational study was conducted in 2016 on 292 elderly people in Saqqez County. Data were gathered using, the SF-36 questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Data analysis was performed by SPSS version 18 and descriptive statistics tests, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Spearman's correlation coefficient and Mann-Whitney U test. The statistical significance level was determined as less than 0.05. Results: The average quality of life score and elderly sleep quality were 48.39± 16 and 11±3.6, respectively. Quality of life had a significant correlation with all domains of sleep quality. The educated elderly had hig...

One of the factors that could prevent the occurrence of depression is tea consumption. Considering the controversial results of previous studies, the aim of this systematic and meta-analysis review study was to answer this question that whether tea consumption could decrease the risk of depression. Methods & Materials: By searching the keywords of tea, depressive disorder, depression caffeine, theanine and polyphenols in national and international databases such as SID, MagIran, Google Scholar, IranMedex, Science Direct, Pubmed, ProQuest and Scopus from 2000 to 2016, 12 descriptive and cross-sectional studies about the relation between tea and depression were extracted. Data of the selected studies were analyzed by meta-analysis method and random model effect. Heterogeneity of the studies was evaluated using I2 index. Data were analyzed using STATA 11.2 software. One of the aspects that could affect aspects of life is mental distress. The aim of this study was to study the relation between quality of life and mental distresses Kurd seniors living in Saghez city, Iran. Methods & Materials: This research was a correlation study conducted in 2015. Samples were 300 seniors who lived in Saghez and were selected through multi-stage sampling. Data were collected using 36-Item Short Form Health Survey and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21. Data were analyzed using PASW software and through descriptive statistics, independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The results showed a negative significant correlation between the quality of life and depression (r = 0.681), anxiety (r = 0.690), stress (r = 0.586), and age (r = 0.296) (P = 0.001). Results of step-wise regression analysis for predicting seniors' quality of life based on their mental distresses showed that depression, anxiety, stress, and age, all together, determined 74.5% of changes in quality of life in seniors. Anxiety by predicting 69% of the variance of seniors' quality of life was the most powerful predictor. Conclusion: Results of the present study showed a relation between quality of life and depression, anxiety, and stress. Appropriate diagnosis and management of mental distresses not only could reduce the time of suffering from these problems, but also could improve the quality of life in seniors.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the mean score of QoL in Iranian elderly citizens. Methods: Twenty-one articles that were indexed in Iranian (MagIran and Iran Medex) and international (Scientific Information Database, Google Scholars, Science Direct, PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus) databases were selected. The articles have used the Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) to measure QoL in Iranian elderly. The collected data were analyzed using a random effects model, while heterogeneity of the studies was measured by I 2 index. The data analysis was performed by STATA. Results: The sample size of the 21 articles was 5318 and the mean score of QoL in the healthy and sick elderly citizens was 53.8 (CI 95%: 49.4-58.2) and 50.6 (CI 95%: 38.4-62.9) respectively. Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a kind of blood cancer, which produces abnormal white blood... more Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a kind of blood cancer, which produces abnormal white blood cells uncontrollably. Modeling of this type of disease can help for treatment of it to physicians. In this paper we proposed an efficient method for CML treatment. In this method, a nonlinear multivariable system is considered as the plant of the CML treatment. Then an efficient centralized multi-input multi-output proportional and integral (CMIMOPI) controller is proposed for this system. Results show that proposed CMIMOPI controller can control CML disease well, by using low dosage of drugs. Although the real plant is nonlinear, however the controller has good robustness and can stabilize the system for various conditions. Simulation results show that the steady state population of cancer cells at the end of treatment period is highly reduced and the rate of cancer improvement is independent from reproduction of cancer cells.

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is one of the possible risk factors for depression. This study aimed to investigate association between RLS and depression in elderly. Method: From April to May in 2014, a total of 350 home residential elderly were included to this case-control study using cluster sampling method. All cases were divided into two groups (depressed and nondepressed) using Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and they were matched in age, gender, education and body mass index (BMI). Screening questionnaire to identify intensity of RLS was used. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18 software, descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney u, Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test when appropriate. P value <0.05 was considered as statically significant. Results: 37 cases (21.1%) of depressed people and 13 (7.4%) of not-depressed people had RLS. There was a significant association between RLS and depression in eld...

The aim of the present review was to determine the total score of quality of life in Iranian war veterans. Methods: In current systematic review and meta-analysis, searches were conducted in national and international databases using keywords “war veteran” and “quality of life” and their combinations. Data were analyzed using meta-analysis and random effects model methods. Heterogeneity between the studies was evaluated using the I test. Data were analyzed using STATA software version 12. Results: Analyzing 19 selected studies with a total sample size of 2575 participants showed that the mean scores of the physical and mental aspects of quality of life in Iranian war veterans were 41.6 (confidence interval of 95%: 37.69-47.02) and 42.22 (confidence interval of 95%: 37.04-47.40), respectively. The lowest scores of physical ...
