The governing partial differential equations have been transformed in to ordinary differential form by using similarity transformations. The resulting equations have been solved numerically, using SOR method and Simpson’s (1/3) rule. The results have been improved by using Richardson’s extrapolation. The velocity, micro rotation and pressure distributions have been obtained for various values of disk rotation parameter s for the range. Comparison of Newtonian and micropolar fluids flow is presented in tabular and graphical forms.

The low IQ group showed more evidence of childhood temperamental disturbance, and a later pattern of internal problems rather than external factors expressing themselves as fire-setting. This study highlights the likelihood of lifelong, temperamental problems being apparent in childhood, and being predictive and possibly causative of fire setting in people with a low IQ. Better understanding of the distinct characteristics of lower IQ arsonists is essential for improved prevention, treatment and management.

A new retrospective study highlighting gender differences could help to confirm or refute the current state of knowledge. The aim of the current study was to examine gender differences amongst a sample of 167 adult arsonists (129 males and 38 females). Information was collected from clinical records on socio-demographic, family background and childhood factors; adult adjustment; fire setting history; motives; features of pyromania and other offending, from the case notes of a group of arsonists referred to the West Midlands Psychiatry Service over a 24-year period. Female arsonists were older than males and more likely to have a psychiatric diagnosis. Women more frequently had a history of sexual abuse, while men had a more varied criminal background and more substance abuse problems. Our findings largely support previous research, and are d...

In Europe, mycovirus-mediated biocontrol is the most efficient method to control the disease but can be impeded by the lack of information about the population structure of the fungus within a region. In particular, sexual reproduction and the new introduction of the pathogen can complicate biocontrol strategies. For this reason, this study aimed to determine the population structure of C. parasitica, which causes chestnut blight, in the northern Italian region of South Tyrol, using eleven multilocus microsatellite markers. Fifty-one haplotypes were found across South Tyrol, belonging to three divergent clusters. Recombinant genotypes demonstrated that sexual reproduction occurs across the different clusters. The most dominant genotypes in the region were also the most dominant in neighboring areas, such as Switzerland, northern Italy and France. All of the clusters from S...

We prove that the methods for multiple zeros as well as for distinct zeros have fourth order convergence. The methods calculate the multiple as well as distinct zeros with high accuracy. The numerical tests show their better performance in case of algebraic as well as non-algebraic equations.

The question of existence and uniqueness of solutions is studied using Banach contraction principle. Furthermore, the question of existence of at least one solution is discussed. At the end, an illustrative example is given in details.

A numerical study based on finite difference approximation is attempted to analyze the bulk flow,... more A numerical study based on finite difference approximation is attempted to analyze the bulk flow, micro spin flow and heat transfer phenomenon for micropolar fluids dynamics through Darcy porous medium. The fluid flow mechanism is considered over a moving permeable sheet. The heat transfer is associated with two different sets of boundary conditions, the isothermal wall and isoflux boundary. On the basis of porosity of medium, similarity functions are utilized to avail a set of ordinary differential equations. The non-linear coupled ODE’s have been solved with a very stable and reliable numerical scheme that involves Simpson’s Rule and Successive over Relaxation method. The accuracy of the results is improved by making iterations on three different grid sizes and higher order accuracy in the results is achieved by Richardson extrapolation. This study provides realistic and differentiated results with due considerations of micropolar fluid theory. The micropolar material parameters d...

Two hundred and fifteen local/ vernacular names were noted of total plants. The inhabitants of the park have for a long time been dependent on surrounding plant resources for their food, health care, fodder, fuel wood and other cultural purposes. A list of plant species along with their local name, plant part/s used, popular uses (or troubles treated) are given. The pastoral nomads of the area make use of 159 (64.89%) as native medicine, 79 (32.24%) as fodder for their livestock, 47(19.18%) as fuelwood, 33 (13.46%) as food (fruits), 18 (7.34%) as vegetables, 14 (5.71%) as timber, 6 (2.44%) as industrial, 4 (1.63%) as tannin, 3 (1.22%) as gum and 2 (0.81%) as fiber. Medicinal uses of the 126 plant species have also been described. This information will serve as reference for the benefit of pharmacists, researchers, Hakims (herbalist), veterinarians and public at large.
