Marital readiness has been regarded as a significant factor in a person’s decision-making process... more Marital readiness has been regarded as a significant factor in a person’s decision-making process about marriage. Researchers have analyzed several psychosocial factors that play a role in increasing or decreasing marital readiness. However, the big five personality traits and psychosocial health were not studied earlier in relation to marital readiness. The current study was the first ever that analyzed the predictive role of the five big personality traits and psychosocial health in marital readiness. The study involved 1466 unmarried adult male and female participants. ‘Sukoon Marital Readiness Scale,’ ‘Psychosocial Health Evaluator,’ and Big-Five Inventory were administered along with a demographic sheet. Extraversion, agreeableness, openness, and psychosocial health were revealed as strong predictors of marital readiness. Men had significantly higher levels of marital readiness as compared to women. The well-being of professionals in mental health settings has attracted considerable interest rec... more The well-being of professionals in mental health settings has attracted considerable interest recently. Professional quality of life as a matter of subject has also gained a lot of importance in different work settings due to its connection with the personal characteristics of people working in the organizations and their repetitive exposure to challenging situations at their workplace [3]. Caring for patients by professional mental health staff in psychiatric settings can be traumatic. In present study, mental health professionals were studied to explore their psychological wellbe ing (PWB) and professional quality of life (ProQOL), and how they manage to maintain these two by regulating their emotions.

The current study intended to analyze the levels of joy in religious festivals. It involved 387 P... more The current study intended to analyze the levels of joy in religious festivals. It involved 387 Pakistani Muslims including men (n=143) and women (n=282). Data was collected through a specifically developed questionnaire in Urdu. The findings revealed that Pakistani Muslims enjoy their festivals at a very low degree and the levels of joy in Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha remains significantly lower than the levels of joy in weddings. The level of joy for Pakistanis during different festivals could not exceed 31 percent. The findings further revealed that, instead of being joyous, a little minority of the respondents felt sadness and tiredness while celebrating different festivals. Men had significantly higher levels of joy on Eid-Ul-Fitr and Eid-Ul-Adha as compared to women. Women had significantly higher levels of joy on close-relative’s wedding as compared to men.
