Moreover, the paper attempts to review how relevant the dividend policy is in the context of these theories. Due to the opposing nature of the theories and debatable nature of dividend policy, this paper reaches a conclusion that the quote on dividend policy by economist Fischer Black, “the harder we look at the dividends picture, the more it seems like a puzzle, with pieces that just do not fit together” is still irrefutable.

Retailers are increasingly monitoring the movements and behaviour of consumers by following the Wi-Fi signals of smartphones, video surveillance and sensors. The data on consumers obtained through tracking can prove crucial in changing store layouts, offering customized promotions, and overall improving the shopping experience.

The need of the research generates from the well-known fact that our planet has a limited supply of resources. Collaborative consumption is quintessential to the well-being of the society as a whole.
Our main focus is to identify whether the Sharing Economy model has the potential of becoming an alternative to the traditional model of consumption. We aim to comprehend the perceptions of the residents of Dubai towards sharing economy and its various platforms. This shall be achieved by conducting primary research.
We also analyse the reasons and thought process behind these perceptions. Going forth with the assumption that the perception will be mostly of a negative nature. Hence, we intend to propose solutions in order to change this perception, and engage the community into collaborative consumption on a larger scale.

Research paper thumbnail of Social Entrepreneurship: Focus on the Middle East

Social problems of income inequality, environmental degradation, inadequate healthcare and poor n... more Social problems of income inequality, environmental degradation, inadequate healthcare and poor nutrition are increasing day by day, threatening the exclusion of the most vulnerable from the society. This paper focused on the emergence of social entrepreneurship as the means to solve these problems.
A social entrepreneur applies business expertise and skills in the non-profit sector. The combination of income-generating activities with the creation of social benefit ensures that the solution remains sustainable and has more impact than the activities of the public sector or a traditional NGO.
Despite being an innovative method to bring about social benefits, the progress of social entrepreneurship has been slow. Therefore, this study mainly identifies the various challenges being faced by social entrepreneurs.
On the other hand, the ecosystem required for social businesses to flourish has been discussed and a 3-Tier scalability model has been proposed based on the seminal research carried out by Zahra et al (2009).
Lastly, this paper has highlighted the opportunities and challenges of social entrepreneurship present in the Middle East region, particularly in the United Arab Emirates.
