The first section of the essay summarises different approaches that scholars have adopted on the topic, suggesting a more holistic analysis is needed. In light of this, the second section combines anthropological, sociological and political arguments to discuss the role of women in six different jihadist organisations-al-Qaeda, al-Shabaab, Hezbollah, Hamas, Boko Haram and the ISIL. The third part of the essay presents a comparative analysis of the results of the precedent section, and engages in a dialogue with the literature. It points out similarities and differences between the organisations and identifies patterns to provide possible explanations to the employment of women in jihad, such as opportunism. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that religious arguments do not sufficiently explain jihadism. There are a multitude of concurrent causes.

Even if the systemic political opposition is silent, the society is evolving and we chose to report as an example the demand for change within young people, the so-called first post-Soviet unimplicated generation (definition of the publicist Dmitry Oreshkin). The first part of the paper presents how the regime has created a complex and centralized system of power, in which the opposition could not fit. The second part analyzes the systemic opposition parties in the frame of the 2018 presidential elections. The third part is dedicated to young people, who represent one of the sources (and hope) for future political evolution. Due to the unfair system implemented by the hegemonic party, the political arena is still blocked on past schemes; opposition does not represent today an alternative to the regime. Anyway, new forces are rising in Russian society, a sign that in the future we can probably expect more and more bottom-up dynamics that will foster the renewal of the political panorama.

The growing importance of climate change in the political arena generates tension between the global dimension of the problem and the nationalist approach of the three parties. Indeed, this tension, together with the striking success obtained by nationalist parties at the last European election in May 2019, revealed the interest of research about the peculiarities in climate change responses of right-wing nationalist parties. This research produced an insight into the way environmentalism is translated into nationalism and, therefore, of how right-wing nationalist parties shape their climate-change politics. Key findings include the connection to the romantic, holistic philosophical framework, a peculiar concept of time, and the attempt to create an alternative to the traditional green parties while dealing with an essential issue of the contemporary political arena.

of a new consortium of producers. The consortium is managing to boost the quality of the production, stabilize profitable prices, encourage the creation of new firms. This recent development is generating social benefits and reshaping the territory: abandoned lands become orchards and the typical dry-weather vegetation is substituted by evergreen trees.

It will start with a short historical summary of the Sudanese migration to Israel and a description of the political context. Afterward, it will examine the relationship between genocide, identity, and securitization and set the theoretical constructivist basis for the analysis of the corpus of articles according to the securitization theory.

My analysis will start taking into consideration political and economic factors fostering short-termism. As a second point, I will try to assess the ethical consequences of short-termism through the idea of generational justice. In the final paragraphs, I will introduce the idea that the combined actions of international organisations and social activism could help to face the long-term challenge posed by climate change.

The understanding of recent tendencies in Turkish cultural policy is not favored by the absence of official governmental written documents. During the past decades, the Turkish government has implemented an extreme neo-liberal agenda, together with authoritarian measures and the promotion of a new national identity that has deepened existing social cleavages. Cultural studies, economics, sociology, international relations tend to use their classical approaches to explain it, failing to get a more nuanced understanding of how the combination of different factors affects and shapes instrumental, ad hoc measures. A more holistic approach is required to get a deeper understanding.
