Mixed method research design was employed, and survey questionnaire and in-depth interviews were used in gathering responses. Fifty-three farmers served as survey respondents in the study while selected individuals from the agriculture sector served as key informants. The four climate stresses identified were: frost, strong typhoons, drought and hail. All of the adaptation strategies for the four climate stresses were categorized based on water management, nutrient management, and pest and diseases management for specific crops. Descriptive statistics and UCINET software were used to analyze knowledge sharing flow. Results showed that knowledge sharing dynamics of farmers were limited to the people they know and trust, and dependent on expected reciprocal exchanges. The results reveal the need for strategies to enhance knowledge dissemination ...

Here, we considered mangroves to be dynamic socio-ecological systems, subject to increasing anthropogenic pressures that present complex challenges for the design of effective coastal governance. Analysing these systems through a participatory approach, we consulted a community who lives in close relationship with mangroves, the Alitas farmers of Infanta, Quezon Province, Philippines. This community has improved decision-making processes for the development of adaptation strategies to climate change. In turn, a sustainably managed and conserved mangrove forest promotes human well-being and resilience, particularly for those households whose livelihoods are dependent on the resources that mangroves provide. This paper examined the importance of mangrove land management that addresses climate change hazards. We synthes...

However, the recent flooding in the community revealed that this flooding is not a new occurrence. The study sought to determine the history of flooding in the area, extent of its effect on the households and the community as well as the coping strategies employed. Participatory tools and techniques such as village walk, historical timeline, participatory mapping, Venn diagram, livelihood analysis, and SWOT were used to gather data. The participatory mapping revealed that the most recent flooding affected 472 households and reached as high as 5 feet in some areas. The historical analysis showed that typhoons from 2006-2012 resulted in the longest the worst flooding affecting the village. The study documented how the local communities responded to the series of flooding with the hope that it will raise awareness in the provincial governm...
