However, antidiabetic drugs can cause side effects in long-term use. Traditional medicine derived from natural sources such as mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana Linn.) is potential as one of the solutions as an antidiabetic drug. α-mangostin has an antidiabetic activity where this compound lowers blood glucose levels and normalize hyperglycemic conditions. This review summarized the antidiabetic activity of G. mangostana and α-mangostin compound in the mangosteen (G.mangostana Linn) plant. Method: We reviewed and compiled published articles search through several sites such as Google Scholar, NCBI, Pubmed, Research Gate, and Science Direct within the last ten years. Cancer is a disease that is causing an increase in mortality all over the world. Cancer treatment... more Cancer is a disease that is causing an increase in mortality all over the world. Cancer treatment is expensive and has a variety of side effects. Natural compound treatment is an attempt to reduce the side effects of cancer therapy. Mangiferin is a natural compound with anticancer and immunomodulatory activity. The immunomodulatory activity of mangiferin from mango (Mangifera indica L.) in cancer was discussed in this article. The literature used in this review was obtained from several databases, including the Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, PubMed, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and the Wiley Online Library, for articles published over the last ten years. Mangiferin influenced anticancer activity by inhibiting NF-κB, affects the regulation of -catenin, EMT, MMP2, MMP9, LDH, NO, ROS, and inhibits classical macrophages activation. Mangiferin has an immunomodulatory effect that can be developed as a candidate drug for anticancer therapy.

Traditional medicinal plants have been developed to treat diabetes mellitus. One of them is Tetracera scandens (L.) Merr.This study aimed to determine the antidiabetic activity of the ethanol extract of T.scandens stems on blood glucose levels, insulin levels, and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in mice induced by alloxan. Animals were grouped into five groups: normal group, negative control, and extract doses of 175, 350, and 700 mg/kg BW. Animals were induced with an alloxandose of 175 mg/kg BW. The extract was given orally for 21 days.The results showed that the administration of ethanol extract ofT.scandens stemscould significantly reduce blood glucose levels, increase insulin levels and reduce insulin resistance (p<0.05).It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of T.scandens potential to develop as herbal medicine in diabetes mellitus therapy. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk memvalidasi metode analisis penetapan kadar α-mangostin ... more Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk memvalidasi metode analisis penetapan kadar α-mangostin dalam plasma darah manusia secara in vitro dengan metode KLT-densitometri. α-Mangostin diekstraksi dari plasma yang sebelumnya ditambahkan dengan larutan α-mangostin dengan metode pengendapan protein menggunakan metanol sehingga diperoleh supernatannya. Pemisahan dilakukan dengan KLT dengan fase diam silika gel 60 F254 dan fase gerak kloroform : etil asetat (9 : 1), kemudian dilakukan scanner dengan densitometri. Validasi metode analisis menunjukkan bahwa metode ini memenuhi persyaratan parameter validasi. Akurasi diperoleh rata-rata persen perolehan kembali yaitu 96,0591%, presisi intraday dari konsentrasi 50 ppm, 100 ppm dan 150 ppm diperoleh rata-rata persen RSD yaitu 1,6440%, 2,1993% dan 1,6389%, presisi interday yaitu 2,8533%, 1,4208%, 3,0985%, linearitas yaitu 0,9922, batas deteksi yaitu 37,8323 ppm dan batas kuantitasi yaitu 110,8014 ppm. Hasil penetapan kadar α-mangostin dalam plasma darah manusia yang sebelumnya ditambahkan dengan larutan α-mangostin secara invitro dari kadar sampel 120 ppm yaitu 115,2709 ± 3,7990 ppm.

Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah gangguan metabolisme yang secara genetis dan klinis dengan manifesta... more Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah gangguan metabolisme yang secara genetis dan klinis dengan manifestasi berupa hilangnya toleransi karbohidrat. Diabetes melitus ditandai dengan hiperglikemia puasa dan postprandial. Peningkatan glukosa darah yang berhubungan dengan diabetes melitus dihasilkan dari sekresi insulin pankreas yang tidak ada atau tanpa penurunan bersama dari aksi insulin. Tidak adanya insulin dihubungkan dengan defisiensi aktivitas lipoprotein lipase (LPL), karena enzim ini diinduksi oleh insulin.Trigliserida Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) dihidrolisis oleh enzim LPL sehingga penurunan LPL dapat meningkatkan trigliserida VLDL dan memiliki potensi aterogenik yang tinggi. Penilitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian daun kemuning (Murraya paniculata (L.) Jack) terhadap kadar glukosa darah dan indeks aterogenik pada tikus putih jantan. Hewan percobaan dikelompokkan menjadi 6 kelompok yang terdiri dari kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, pembanding (metformin 45 mg/kg BB), fraksi n-heksan, etil asetat, dan air ekstrak etanol daun kemuning dosis 100 mg/kg BB. Hewan diinduksi aloksan dosis 125 mg/kg BB secara intraperitoneal. Tiap kelompok diberikan perlakuan selama 27 hari kemudian dilakukan pengukuran kadar glukosa darah, kolesterol total dan HDL tikus putih jantan pada hari ke-14 dan hari ke-28 dengan alat fotometer klinikal 5010. Hasil uji analisis menunjukkan bahwa pemberian fraksi ekstrak etanol daun kemuning (Murraya paniculata (L.) The determination level of vitamin B1 was measured by spectrophotometry visible method. The result is level of vitamin B1 in soy bean higher than level of vitamin B1 in tempeh. Which level of vitamin B1 in soy bean and tempeh is about 1.0213 % ±0.0188% and 0.2960 % ±0.0095%. It show that the proces manufacturing, like washing, bathing, boiling can affect the level of vitamin B1. Statistic analyze anova one way by using SPSS 17 program shows there are significant different (p<0.05) in the level from each sample.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol biji melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) terhadap diare pada mencit putih jantan yang diinduksi dengan minyak jarak (Oleum ricini). Metode yang digunakan untuk pengujian antidiare adalah pola defekasi dan metode transit intestinal. Parameter yang diamati meliputi frekuensi defekasi, konsistensi feses, berat feses setiap 30 menit selama 4 jam, dan panjang marker norit pada usus mencit. Ekstrak diberikan secara oral dengan dosis 150 mg/kBB, 300 mg/kg BB dan 600 mg/kg BB,sebagai pembanding digunakan loperamid HCl dosis 2 mg/kgBB. Dari hasil penelitian didapat bahwa ekstrak etanol biji Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) pada dosis 600 mg/kgBB memberikan pengaruh antidiare lebih baik dibandingkan dengan dosis 300 mg/kgBB dan dosis 150 mg/kg BB. Peningkatan aktivitas antidiare terlihat seiring dengan peningkatan dosis pemberian ekstrak etanol biji Melinjo (Gnetum gnemon L.) (P < 0,05).

Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is one of the agricultural commodities as source of carbohy... more Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is one of the agricultural commodities as source of carbohydrates and energy which is included in the family of Convolvulaceae. It is also a good source of vitamins and minerals which is good for nutrition and health. One of the compounds contained in purple sweet potato is beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A. It is useful as an antioxidant, boosts the immune system and treats other diseases. Beta-carotene is unstable, especially at high temperature. This study aims at answering the question as to how the processing of purple sweet potato can effect to beta-carotene level by using Visible spectrophotometry method. This study is conducted by performing three treatments to purple sweet potato i.e. raw, fried and boiled sample. Weight of raw sample is 10 grams, fried and boiled sample is 15 grams. The sample were extracted by liquid-liquid extraction and it is measured by Visibel spectrophotometer at maximum wavelength of 452.5 nm. The results obtained show that the average level of beta-carotene is 75.91 ±1.92 ppm for raw samples, 63.05 ± 3.45 ppm for fried, and 45.66 ± 0.82 ppm for boiled. The result is statistically calculated by one-way ANOVA statistical analysis. It shows that sig 0.000 (P < 0.05), and it indicates that there is an effect of processing to the average level of beta-carotene contained in purple sweet potato.

Analyses were performed with a flow rate of 1 ml/min using Phenomenal C18 column (150 × 4.6 mm) detector used was a UV detector at a wavelength of 240.5 nm. The mobile phase used was acetonitrile: 0.1% phosphoric acid in the ratio (85: 15) v/v. The regression equation of the calibration curve with the concentration of 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 mg/ml, y=66474x-4456 validation of methods of analysis have been qualified parameter validation analysis, the value of accuracy of 98.62%, 97.90%, 95, 75% precision with 1.27%, 0.7%, 0.3% linearity with correlation Toe Fien 0.9998, the Limit of Detection (LOD) and Limit of Quantification (LOQ) limits respectively 0.22 mg/ml and 0.73 mg/ml. Levels of acid α-mangosteen in lands gained 0.05%.

Daun belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) digunakan secara tradisional oleh masyarakat untuk mengobati hiperurisemia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antihiperurisemia fraksi ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh yang terdiri dari fraksi air, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi n-heksan pada mencit hiperurisemia. Mencit terdiri dari 6 kelompok (normal, kontrol negatif, kontrol positif (allopurinol), fraksi n-heksan, fraksi air, dan fraksi etil asetat dosis 100 mg/kgBB). Mencit diinduksi hiperurisemia dengan makanan diet purin tinggi (MDPT). Fraksi diberikan secara peroral satu kali sehari selama 14 hari. Kadar asam urat diukur pada hari ke-15 dengan fotometer klinik.
