Polymer is one material that can be used as a fixation to repair fractured or broken bones. Howev... more Polymer is one material that can be used as a fixation to repair fractured or broken bones. However, polymers are soft and ductile, so modifying them by adding hydroxyapatite as a filler is necessary. Polyethylene is a high-density polymer with more potent material properties to be utilized as a matrix. The PE-HAp composites were synthesized by compacting and heating the composition percentage of Hap 25%, 35% and 45%. Based on the characterization results using XRD, FTIR, and hardness test instruments, it is concluded that the addition of HAp composition results in better composite mechanical properties. The material properties are improving, increasing the hardness value (shore A) by 63 shore A. The hardness value increases because the composite properties are more compact, and the PE matrix physically binds the HAp filler. This is reinforced by XRD and FTIR characterization results, with no new compounds formed and no new molecular vibrational patterns in the FTIR spectrum.

In synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles using the green synthesis method by adding FeCl3.6H2O and pin... more In synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles using the green synthesis method by adding FeCl3.6H2O and pineapple leaf extract. Pineapple leaf extract is used as a natural reducing agent which contains hydroxyl and carbonyl, which acts as a reducing agent for the synthesized FeCl3.6H2O. Then after the precipitate is obtained, calcination will be carried out, where the calcination temperature in the synthesis becomes a factor in forming Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Different calcination temperatures of 400°C, 450°C, and 500°C were given to prepare Fe3O4 nanoparticles, with the XRD test results confirming that Fe3O4 nanoparticles were formed. In the SEM-EDX test, the optimum variation is 400°C because the average particle size is 150.23 nm with irregular particle shapes. Then proceed with the SAA results with a surface area of 60.125 m ²/g. Nanomagnetite produced by green synthesis of pineapple leaf extract can be used as a removal dyes.

Kelelahan merupakan suatu kondisi yang dialami oleh seseorang setelah melakukan suatu pekerjaan y... more Kelelahan merupakan suatu kondisi yang dialami oleh seseorang setelah melakukan suatu pekerjaan yang berupa perasaan letih, mengantuk, bosan, dan haus. Gejala yang muncul akibat keleahan antara lain penurunan motivasi, kegiatan, dan aktivitas fisik. Salah satu cara untuk mencegah kelelahan adalah dengan mengukur kelelahan yang dialami pekerja dalam melakukan pekerjaan, selanjutnya dapat diatur kembali beban kerja agar sesuai dengan kapasitas fisik maupun mental tenaga kerja. Pelatihan pembuatan alat deteksi kelelahan ini dapat diberikan kepada siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Salah satunya adalah siswa dari SMA Negeri 1 Kampak Kabupaten Trenggalek. Para siswa SMA ini memerlukan peningkatan kemampuan yang dapat menjadi bekal memasuki dunia industri ataupun untuk melanjutkan studi ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Mereka pun masih memerlukan beberapa kemampuan yang dapat menunjang karir mereka nanti. Salah satu solusi yang bisa diberikan adah dengan memberikan pelatihan elektronika dasar dan mikrokontroler yang dapat menjadi nilai tambah bagi mereka jika akan mencari kerja ke industri. Dasar keahlian mengenai sistem komputer dan multimedia dan hasil pelatihan ini akan mnejadikan lulusan SMA ini memiliki daya saing yang lebih tinggi untuk memasuki dunia industri atau melanjutkan studi. Selain itu, kegiatan ini nantinya dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan entrepreneurship siswa SMA dalam membuat alat deteksi kelelahan berdasarkan respon refleks berbasis audiovisual. Wirausaha di bidang alat-alat kesehatan seperti alat deteksi kelelahan ini, dalam arti memproduksi secara mandiri dan memasarkan alat-alat kesehatan di dalam negeri masih sangat sedikit. Para siswa SMA diharapkan nantinya setelah lulus mampu mengembangkan produksi dan pengadaan alat kesehatan secara mandiri di Indonesia dalam menghadapi Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA).

Chitosan is considered as one of the best biopolymers for bone tissue engineering application due... more Chitosan is considered as one of the best biopolymers for bone tissue engineering application due to its appealing properties such as biocompatible, non-toxic, nonimmunogenic, able to accelerate growth rate of bone tissue, possess antibacterial activity and able to form porous structure. Herein, polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) prepared by simple mixing of chitosan solution and poly-2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (PAMPS) solution were investigated. In this study, chitosan concentration were varied from 1.0 to 2.0% (w/v), while concentration of AMPS was fixed at 0.1% (w/v) to know the influence of chitosan concentration on swelling capacity and mechanical properties of obtained PECs. Swelling test and compressive test results showed that the most stable PECs in aqueous environment with highest ultimate compressive strength was PECs obtained from chitosan 2.0% (w/v)-PAMPS 0.1% (w/v) with swelling capacity 3,326% for 2 hours and ultimate compressive strength 1.22 kPa.

Pulmonary drug delivery system is one of potential way to effectively treat lung-based disease, s... more Pulmonary drug delivery system is one of potential way to effectively treat lung-based disease, such as tuberculosis, because this route offers a possibility to reduce systemic toxicity and achieving higher drug concentration at the main site of infection. One of potential drug carrier for this purpose is chitosan based polyelectrolytes complexes (PECs) because micronsized particles with good biocompatibility, non-toxic and antibacterial properties, that was inherited from chitosan, could be achieved. In this research, PECs were prepared by simple mixing method between chitosan solution and poly-2-acrylamido-2-methylprophane sulfonic acid (PAMPS) solution. The influence of chitosan concentration on obtained PECs were studied by varying chitosan concentration from 0.1 to 2.0% w/v. Based on dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zetasizer results, increasing chitosan concentration lead to increase the particle size from 1.1 µm to 10.7 µm and their net surface charge of particles were changed from-4,2 mV to 32.8 mV. Considering that particle size of pulmonary drug carrier should be around 1-3 µm and preferable possesses positive net surface charge, PECs prepared from chitosan solution 0.5% w/v might be potentially useful as drug carrier for pulmonary drug delivery system.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are fascinating materials for biomedical applications thanks to thei... more Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are fascinating materials for biomedical applications thanks to their strong antibacterial activity and biocompatibility. This study applied the green synthesis method using 0.5 wt.% Seminyak leaf extract and assisted with one min microwave irradiation to enhance AgNPs formation. Extremely small sizes AgNPs with an average particle size of 9.1 ± 4.1 nm and spherical shapes were obtained. The synthesized AgNPs displayed potent antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a zone of inhibition of 12.3 ± 0.1 and 13.7 ± 0.7 mm, respectively. The MTT assay results demonstrated that the cells’ viability of the obtained AgNPs was 88.5 ± 7.0 %, implying biocompatibility for biomedical applications.

The aim of research is to synthesize chitosan with variation of Degrees of Deacetylation (DD) and characterize the DD influence on mechanical properties and biocompatibility. Research design is prospective observational. The development of conducting polymers such as polyaniline enables the fabrication of conductive polymeric composite scaffolds. In this study, we report on the initial development of a polycaprolactone scaffold incorporating different weight loadings of a polyaniline microparticle filler. The scaffolds are fabricated using screw-assisted extrusion-based 3D printing and are characterised for their morphological, mechanical, conductivity, and preliminary biological properties. The conductivity of the polycaprolactone scaffolds increases with the inclusion of polyaniline. The in vitro cytocompatibility of the scaffolds was assessed using human adipose-derived stem cells to determine cell viability and proliferation up to 21 days. The distance between axons, which is more than 1-2 cm, needs graft in the form of nerve connecting pipe in order to repair the defects. A synthesis of hollowfiber polyurethane-collagen coated by chitosan was carried out to identify its potential as treatment accelerator for peripheral nerve injury. The result of Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis showed multiple links between chitosan and glutaraldehyde, which can be seen in wavenumber shift from 1080-1100 cm-1 to 1002 cm-1. The degradation test result revealed that the sample displayed mass loss after it was soaked in simulated body fluid(SBF) for seven days. Polyurethanecan be degraded in the body after 30 days. Pelatihan pembuatan alat deteksi kelelahan ini dapat diberikan kepada siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Salah satunya adalah siswa dari SMA Negeri 1 Kampak Kabupaten Trenggalek. Para siswa SMA ini memerlukan peningkatan kemampuan yang dapat menjadi bekal memasuki dunia industri ataupun untuk melanjutkan studi ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Mereka pun masih memerlukan beberapa kemampuan yang dapat menunjang karir mereka nanti. Salah satu solusi yang bisa diberikan adah dengan memberikan pelatihan elektronika dasar dan mikrokontroler yang dapat menjadi nilai tambah bagi mereka jika akan mencari kerja ke industri. Dasar keahlian mengenai sistem komputer dan multimedia dan hasil pelatihan ini akan mnejadikan lulusan SMA ini memiliki daya saing yang lebih tinggi untuk memasuki dunia industri atau melanjutkan studi. Selain itu, kegiatan ini nantinya dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan entrepreneurship siswa SMA dalam membuat alat deteksi kelelahan berdasarkan respon refleks berbasis audiovisual. Wirausaha di bidang alat-alat kesehatan seperti alat deteksi kelelahan ini, dalam arti memproduksi secara mandiri dan memasarkan alat-alat kesehatan di dalam negeri masih sangat sedikit. Para siswa SMA diharapkan nantinya setelah lulus mampu mengembangkan produksi dan pengadaan alat kesehatan secara mandiri di Indonesia dalam menghadapi Masyarakat Ekonomi Asean (MEA).

Herein, polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) prepared by simple mixing of chitosan solution and poly-2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (PAMPS) solution were investigated. In this study, chitosan concentration were varied from 1.0 to 2.0% (w/v), while concentration of AMPS was fixed at 0.1% (w/v) to know the influence of chitosan concentration on swelling capacity and mechanical properties of obtained PECs. Swelling test and compressive test results showed that the most stable PECs in aqueous environment with highest ultimate compressive strength was PECs obtained from chitosan 2.0% (w/v)-PAMPS 0.1% (w/v) with swelling capacity 3,326% for 2 hours and ultimate compressive strength 1.22 kPa.

One of potential drug carrier for this purpose is chitosan based polyelectrolytes complexes (PECs) because micronsized particles with good biocompatibility, non-toxic and antibacterial properties, that was inherited from chitosan, could be achieved. In this research, PECs were prepared by simple mixing method between chitosan solution and poly-2-acrylamido-2-methylprophane sulfonic acid (PAMPS) solution. The influence of chitosan concentration on obtained PECs were studied by varying chitosan concentration from 0.1 to 2.0% w/v. Based on dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zetasizer results, increasing chitosan concentration lead to increase the particle size from 1.1 µm to 10.7 µm and their net surface charge of particles were changed from-4,2 mV to 32.8 mV. Considering that particle size of pulmonary drug carrier should be around 1-3 µm and preferable possesses positive net surface charge, PECs prepared from chitosan solution 0.5% w/v might be potentially useful as drug carrier for pulmonary drug delivery system.

This study applied the green synthesis method using 0.5 wt.% Seminyak leaf extract and assisted with one min microwave irradiation to enhance AgNPs formation. Extremely small sizes AgNPs with an average particle size of 9.1 ± 4.1 nm and spherical shapes were obtained. The synthesized AgNPs displayed potent antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with a zone of inhibition of 12.3 ± 0.1 and 13.7 ± 0.7 mm, respectively. The MTT assay results demonstrated that the cells’ viability of the obtained AgNPs was 88.5 ± 7.0 %, implying biocompatibility for biomedical applications.

In this study, we report on the initial development of a polycaprolactone scaffold incorporating different weight loadings of a polyaniline microparticle filler. The scaffolds are fabricated using screw-assisted extrusion-based 3D printing and are characterised for their morphological, mechanical, conductivity, and preliminary biological properties. A synthesis of hollowfiber polyurethane-collagen coated by chitosan was carried out to identify its potential as treatment accelerator for peripheral nerve injury. The result of Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis showed multiple links between chitosan and glutaraldehyde, which can be seen in wavenumber shift from 1080-1100 cm-1 to 1002 cm-1.
