Synthetic databases, which are used to benchmark performance of algorithms, tend to have distributions far different from those observed in real datasets. In this paper we focus on the problem of synthetic database generation and propose algorithms to effectively embed within the database, any given set of maximal pattern collections, and make the following contributions: 1. A database generation technique is presented which takes k maximal itemset collections as input, and constructs a database which produces these maximal collections as output, when mined at k levels of support. To analyze the efficiency of the procedure, upper bounds are provided on the number of transactions output in the generated database. 2. A compression method is used and extended to reduce the size of the output database. An optimization to the generation procedure is provided which could potentially reduce the number of transactions generated. 3. Preliminary experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of using the generation technique.

The resource requirements of all extant algorithms for both problems depend on the distribution of frequent patterns, a topic that has not been formally investigated. In this paper, we study properties of length distributions of frequent and maximal frequent itemset collections and provide novel solutions for computing tight lower bounds for feasible distributions. We show how these bounding distributions can help in generating realistic synthetic datasets, which can be used for algorithm benchmarking.

Previous research in integrating ARM with databases mainly looked at exploiting language (SQL) as a tool for implementing mining algorithms. In this paper we explore an alternative approach, using various data access methods and systems programming techniques to study the efficiency of mining data.

It is customary to rehabilitate these patients by surgical or prosthetic means. Studies have been done to assess mastication and other functions after rehabilitation. A review of these studies for assessing masticatory function has been done under separate sections for maxillary and mandibular defects. Different masticatory tests are mentioned. Further scope for research has been highlighted.

Imported alloys used now a days in processing them are not economical. So this study was conducted to evaluate and compare the bond strength of ceramic material to nickel based cost effective Nonferrous Materials Technology Development Center (NFTDC), Hyderabad and Heraenium S, Heraeus Kulzer alloy. An Instron testing machine, which has three-point loading system for the application of load onto the specimen was utilized for analyzing bond strength of both alloys. Student t test was conducted and t value obtained was 0.644, and the mean value of flexural bond strength of indigenous alloy is 81.75 with standard deviation of 12.25 and of imported alloy is 84.42 with standard deviation of 10.35, indicating that there was no significant difference between the two alloys. Due to ever increasing cost of imported non-precious alloy the need for a cost-effective replacement was fulfilled...

We focus on degree-based attacks, wherein the adversary knows the degrees of particular target vertices and we aim to protect the anonymity of participants through k-anonymization, which ensures that every participant is equivalent to at least k− 1 other participants with respect to degree. We introduce a natural and novel approach of ...

Coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertension and diabetes mellitus are more common in Indians comp... more Coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertension and diabetes mellitus are more common in Indians compared to their incidence in the Western population. The exact reason for this is not known. One of the risk factors for the development of and complications due to CAD, hypertension and diabetes mellitus could be hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance and low plasma levels of arachidonic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid, metabolites of dietary essential fatty acids (EFAs), cis-linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids. Fatty acid analysis of the plasma phospholipid (PL) fraction of normal Indians showed that they have low concentrations of arachidonic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid in comparison to those seen in Canadian and Minnesota (USA) normals. Since insulin can activate EFA metabolism, this alteration in the EFA metabolism may, at least, in part explain the high incidence of CAD, hypertension and diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia that are common in Indians. _____ -

Numerous companies have been manufacturing and marketing base metal alloys. Gold was a major component of casting alloys. But alloys with less than 65% gold tarnished easily and the increase in cost of gold post-1970s lead to the revival of base metal alloys such as nickel-chromium and cobalt-chromium alloys which were in use since 1930s. Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the castability between an indigenous alloy and an imported alloy, as imported base metal alloys are considered to be expensive for fabrication of crowns and bridges. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the castability (for the accurate fabrication of crowns and bridges) between an indigenous base metal alloy-Non-ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC), Hyderabad (Alloy A) -and an imported base metal alloys (Alloy B). Methods: Forty-one consecutive children and adolescents 16 years of age or younger (mean, 7.2 years), with benign esophageal strictures were evaluated in a prospective manner over a 7-year period. The most frequent causes of esophageal strictures were caustic ingestion and complications of endoscopic sclerotherapy of esophageal varices. Dilation was done on a weekly basis using bougies and was considered adequate if the esophageal lumen could be dilated to 15 mm diameter (11 mm in children less than 5 years old) with complete relief of dysphagia. Results: Of the 30 patients who could be adequately followed after initial dilation, 16 had corrosive strictures and 14 had strictures due to other causes. Patients with corrosive strictures required a significantly higher number of sessions for adequate initial dilation (7.8 _+ 2.5 sessions vs 1.86 ± 0.48 sessions; p< 0.01). Patients with corrosive strictures had a higher number of mean symptomatic recurrences per patient month as compared to the noncorrosive stricture group (0.15 _ 0.01 vs 0.087 ± 0.03, p < 0.01). Six esophageal perforations occurred during a total of 327 dilation sessions (1.8%); there was one fatality. Conclusions: From our experience, we conclude that benign esophageal strictures in young patients can be treated effectively and with acceptable safety by means of endoscopic dilation.
